Six characters come together and Nocturnes run away from each other, exploring space and launching them- selves into suspension and freefall. ANCE D Passes available starting January 8 Thursday, January 27, 8 p.m. A blend of contemporary jazz, musique actuelle and Jewish traditional music from Eastern Europe, the music of no Zen is Damien Nisenson both rich and spontaneous. For this concert, Nisenson invites painter Poli Wilhelm to translate the highly emotional content no Zen of his compositions into images. The apparently harmonious lives of the family members are first upset by a death, and then further disturbed Forasters (Strangers) by the arrival of new foreign neighbours. FILM No pass required February Tuesday, February 1, 8 p.m. Évidence is a tribute group that plays the music of Thelonious Monk, a pianist and composer and be-bop pioneer who helped shape the face of modern jazz. The group’s repertoire includes famous and less Évidence well-known pieces that reveal the composer’s rigorous approach and his own special brand of humour. Accompanied by tambourine, accordion and Gruppo Musicale Assurd castanets, they perform lullabies, pizziche from Salento and Neapolitan serenades, all set to lively, festive rhythms. U M Passes available starting January 26 Thursday, February 10, 8 p.m. This performance/show recounts the journey of Prince Ahmed Al Kamel, or the Pilgrim of Love, in Myriame El Yamani the days when Islam, Judaism and Catholicism were all practised peacefully in Andalusia (711-1492). Their repertoire, made up of Jean Derome originals, invites improvisation by the four seasoned Jean Derome et les Dangereux Zhoms members. This unique ensemble is Dangereux Zhoms a true delight to see and hear.
