  • Workplace Clusters Record Highest Covid-19 Cases, Says Minister
Workplace clusters record highest Covid-19 cases, says Minister KUALA LUMPUR, July 27 — Covid-19 clusters involving the workplace which stood at 735 clusters, have recorded the highest number of cases at 60,000 cases from June 1 to July 23, said National Recovery Plan (NRP) Coordinating Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz. The finance minister said of the total clusters, 373 or 50.7 per cent involved the manufacturing sub-category with 35,642 cases reported. “This is higher than the number of clusters in other categories throughout the same period,” he said in reply to questions raised regarding the NRP in Dewan Rakyat here yesterday. Tengku Zafrul said cluster categories were used to identify locations or localities so that targeted actions to control and prevent the spread of Covid-19 infection could be implemented effectively by the Health Ministry (MOH) in collaboration with the relevant authorities. Shah Alam MP Khalid Abd Samad raised questions regarding International Trade and Industry Ministry’s action that allowed factories to open without control, which he claimed had led to the rise in Covid-19 cases in the country. Its Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali responded to the allegations saying the decision to allow factories to operate was made collectively in the National Security Council (NSC) meeting, adding that the ministry’s role was only to coordinate so that authorised parties could operate in compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set. Mohamed Azmin also showed a placard of data from the National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) and the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) that indicated only 8.8 per cent of new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the manufacturing sector out of 408,134 cases nationwide between June 1 and July 23.

  • Crisis Committee Issue: Transition of Power in Malaysia Student Officer
Shanghai Model United Nations XX 2018 | Research Reports Forum: Crisis Committee Issue: Transition of Power in Malaysia Student Officer: Wesley Chiu Position: Crisis Chair Mohamad Sabu (Minister of Defense) From a culinary graduate to the Minister of Defense, Mat Sabu’s rise in Malaysian politics is widely considered as one of the most bizarre journey. Sabu, unlike many other military personnel, is a charismatic and holistic leader who constantly speaks out racial and religious tensions in Malaysia. Despite not being a typical military officer, Sabu has a grand vision for the Malaysian military. With the deteriorating state of most equipments and the rapidly advancing military technology, Sabu intents to implement a whole scale change in the military by brining in drone aircrafts and introducing the use of Artificial Intelligence into the military. However, understanding that the government is currently on a tight budget, Subu recognizes that his vision might take a certain level of patience before becoming a reality. Mohamed Azmin Ali (Minister of Economic Affairs) While it is true that the Malaysian people has just elected a new Prime Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali has been tipped to become the long-term solution to Malaysian leadership. A relatively reserved and quiet politician, Azmin has been involved in Malaysian politics for 30 years. Like many other progressive politicians in the current administration, Azmin shares the same worry about religion and racial devision. However, as the head of the Minister of Economic Affairs (a newly created ministry in the current administration), Azmin is more troubled by the economic aftermaths of failed programs such as the BR1M.
