National League Game Summaries January 14, 2020 The National League Spring Session got off to a rip-roaring start today with most of the games going down to the last at bat to decide a winner. There were lots of walks-26 to be exact and with the new scoring system in place the walks are counted as a time at bat and a hit. Hopefully, this will give a more accurate accounting of the On-Base percentage. The hitters must have eaten their Wheaties this morning since there were 40 extra base hits (18 doubles, 12 triples and 10 home runs. ABC Business Alliance 12 Hole N One 7 ABC, one of the new teams in the league got off to a good start, scoring 4 runs in the first inning and never relinquished the lead. Hitters of note for ABC were Phil Souza, 3/3, Paul Moye, 2/3, RIch McKinney, 3/3, MGR Bob Schneeberg, 3/3, with a home run and 5 RBI's, Wes Horen, 3/3, with a triple and 4 RBI's, Bo Boinski, 2/3, and Russ Fagering, 2/3. The leaders for Hole N One were MGR Bev Burger, 2/4, Don Patton, 2/4, Ron Phipps, 2/4 with a home run and 4 RBI's, Larry Ott, 3/3, Pat Hogan, 2/3, and Rachel Ott, 2/3. Royal Oaks – 6 Brenda's Kitchen - 8 Brenda's cooked up a 6 to 0 lead after two innings, but Royal Oaks fought back to tie the game in the 5th inning. BK then put 2 more runs on the board in their half of the inning and then held the Oaks scoreless in the top of the 6th to preserve their victory. Royal Oaks was led by Tom Conway, 3/3 with a home run and a couple of RBI's, Jack Berginz, 3/3 with a triple, Sub John Fried, with a double, Scott Sive, 3/3, Myrl Wagenknect, 3/3 and MGR Emile Calleja, 2/3. Marie Youngs, 3/3, Jim Slager, 3/3, with a double, Ken Doyle, 3/3, with a double, Mel Freund, 2/3, with a double, Ken Kauffman, 2/3, Fred Mingo, 2/3, and Larry Cannon, 2/2 with a double. Slager, Doyle and Freud each had 2 RBIs to drive in 6 of the 8 runs for BK. Larry Ott Realty 14 Grandview Terrace 15 Every hitter for Larry Ott had a hit with 10 of 11 with multiple hits as they forged to a 14 to 9 lead, scoring 4 times in the top of the 6th. Grandview was not to be denied, however, and pushed across 6 runs in their half of the inning for the 15 to 14 victory. Not to be outdone, every one of Grandview's hitters had multiple hits. For the Ott's, the leaders were Phl Martin, 4/4, Jim Patrick, 3/4, Ken Coplen, 4/4, Dale Wilderspin, 3/4 with a triple and 3 RBIs, John Dewey, 3/3 with 3 RBIs, Brent Hall, 4/4, with a double, MGR Leo Zinn, 3/4, Jerry Eckert, 3/4, Gary Beymer, 4/4, and Deborah Scales, 2/4. Leading the hit parade for GT were Gary Edwards, 3/5, MGR Ron Mysel, 2/4, Fred Trautman, 4/4, with a triple, Tom Cullaro, 3/4, with a triple and three RBIs, Bob Cantonwine, 2/4, with a double and three RBIs, Sub Jim Sunberg, 4/4, with a double, Cindy Gilbert, 2/4, wit a triple, RIch Collings, 3/4, with a double, Mike Leese, 3/4, Ken Larson, 2/4 and Sub Bill Steil, 2/4. AZ Center for Cancer Care 14 Tempus West Valley Realty – 11 Lots of hits in this back and forth game - 48 to be exact, with AZCC scoring 6 runs in their unlimited 6th inning, holding Tempus to 3 runs to preserve their victory. Solving the mystery of Tempus's pitching, the big hitters for AZCCC were Tina Prosenick, 3/4, Randy Allen, 4/4, Dan Mercer, 4/4, with a double, home run and 5 RBIs, Dennis Konieczsny, 3/4 with 4 RBIs, Chuck Wittreich, 3/4, Jack Fisher, 2/4, Brad Schreiber, 2/4, John Pfaff, 3/4 and Bil Steil, 2/4. Tempus was led by Jim Hardin, 2/4, Scott Rich, 4/4, with a triple and a double, and 3 RBIs, MGR Dick LeMoine, 2/4, Mel Adema, 3/4, with a triple, Chcuk Schwendeman, 3/4, with a home run and 4 RBIs, Sub Jack Gilbert, 2/3 and Jim Raftis, 2/3 with a double. Sun Cities Tire and Auto 12 Big Daddy 12 Continuing the barrage of base hits, every hitter on both teams had at least one hit. Big Daddy took an early 6 to 3 lead, built it to 8 to 4, but lost the lead after Sun Cities Tire had a couple of 4 run innings to jump ahead 12 to 9. Big Daddy managed 3 runs after the flip to salvage a tie. Sun Cities Tires was led by Keith Britton, 2/4, Pete Childers, 3/4, Tom Adamack, 2/3, Steve Hill, 2/3, Robert Bergstresser, 2/3, with a home run and3 RBIs, Sharon Staeb, 2/3, Stan Czysz, 2/3, with a home run and 3 RBIs, Chuck Davelis,2/3, and Gregg Griffith, 2/3. Bob Emerson, 3/4, Tom Balfe, 3/4, with a triple, Dan Mercer, 4/4 with 4 RBIs, Joe Emmons, 3/4, with a triple, Terrel Bear, 2/3, Ron Blackwell, 2/3, and Bob Luebben, 2/3, had the hot bats for Big Daddy. Sun City Collectibles – 12 Desert Sun Embroidery 13 The Desert Sun Embroidery built up a 12 to 4 lead over the first 6 innings only to watch the Collectibles score 8 times in their unlimited 7th inning, but it was all for naught as Sylvia Conley slugged the winning hit in the bottom of the 7th inning to ice the win for the crafters. The leaders for SCC were Sharon Amer, 3/4, Jim Zielinski, 3/4, with 3 RBIs (Sharon and Jim hit back to back home runs to start the game!), Joh Doherty, 2/4, Jim Porter, 2/4, John DeVries, 2/4, Tex Wells, with a triple and 3 RBIs, MGR Tom Garrett, 2/4, Ray Haus, 3/4, and Bill Holmesley, 2/3. Wendy Geiwitz, 5/5, Sylvia COnley, 4/5, Joe Colonna, 2/4, Kip Stumbough, 4/4, with 2 double, and 4 RBIs, Dexter Yard, 3/4, wiht a home run and 4 RBIs, Lee Howard, 3/4, John Morgan, 3/4, and Bob Weiss, 3/4 stitched the win together for DSE. .
