Brief Summary NIZAMPATNAM FISHERY HARBOUR Dist. Guntur Department of Fisheries Government of AnDhra Pradesh The Fisheries Department, one of the important line agencies of Government of Andhra Pradesh accords top priority to f isheries development through interventions principally aimed at addressing the welfare of fishermen community and revenue generation for the State. The Department intends to undertake Stage-II development and extension of the existing fishery harbour at Nizampatnam in Guntur district with required harbour infrastructure/ facilities. The project envisages providing necessary infrastructure for facilitating and augmenting fishing activities in an environmentally responsible manner. This will help generate more employment opportunities and improve the quality of life of the local population. Nizampatnam fishery harbour geographically corresponds to latitude 15o 52'58" N, longitude 80o 38'18" E and is located in the confluence of Thunga Bhadra Channel and Nizampatnam creek along the coast of Bay of Bengal. Nizampatnam Mandal is under Tenali Revenue Division in district Guntur. The proposed project is categorized under 7 (e) – ‘B’, which attracts CRZ Notification of 2011 and EIA Notification of 2006 for which it is mandated for CRZ Clearance and also Environmental Clearance from SEIAA/ SEAC or any other extant Govt. Order/Policy relevant/ relating to the site thereof. The project is envisaged as a standalone coastal infrastructure. The proposed fish landing capacity is 62,000 TPA. The fishing harbour facilities have been designed to accommodate 1600 nos. of 10 M Motorized boats is 1000 nos ,and 500 nos 15M Trawler cum Gill Netter and 100 nos 24 M Tuna long liner Dredging of approach channel and extending / repairing and strengthening of Training Walls are included as project component. Harbour facilities have been proposed to be made in the inter-tidal area and on shore. There will be reclamation of about 0.915 lakh cu.m using borrowed good earth and dredge spoil. The Budgetary e stimate for establishing the proposed Fishery Harbour (Stage- II) is Rs. 34100 lakh. .
