In his novel Zhenit' ba Kevongov (Moscow: Sovetskii pisatel', 1975) Sangi explores the historical genealogy of his people and theirnotions of what constitutes biography. Sangi has been among the most ardent defenders of the peoples of the north and has voiced his concern overtheiriiterary fate now that the All-Union Writers' Union no longer exists.
