About Me: Dr. Sreya Maitra completed her B.A Honours (First Class) in Political Science and M.A (awarded the University Gold Medal) in International Relations, Department of International Relations, Jadavpur University, . She was awarded the PhD by the Faculty of Arts, Jadavpur University in 2016. She has served as UGC-NET Junior and Senior Research Fellow from 2010-15. She has been twice awarded the Sasakawa Young Leaders’ Fellowship Fund (SYLFF), Tokyo Foundation, Japan, at the Master’s Level (2008) and PhD level (2012). She has served as Research Fellow Global Foundation, Kolkata, supported by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India (2008- 2010). Her teaching experience began as a Research Fellow at the Department of International Relations, Jadavpur University, where she taught Extra Departmental Courses on Political Theory and Select Foreign Constitutions at the Undergraduate level. She also worked as a part-time Lecturer at Bhawanipore Education Society College, . She has published (authored and co- authored) research articles in international and national peer-reviewed Journals (notably Cambridge University Press and Sage) and edited volumes. She has also contributed editorial articles and book reviews to The Statesman on issues of contemporary politics.

o Experience / Expertise: Dr. Maitra has been associated with teaching Political Science (Extra Departmental Courses, Jadavpur University) since 2010 and has been involved in teaching Honours courses as a full –time Faculty of the Education Service since 2015. She has gathered expertise in Political Theory, Foreign Constitutions, International Relations, Indian Government and Politics and Public Administration. o Specialisation & Area of Interests: As a researcher, Dr. Maitra specialises in International Relations theory, internal conflicts in India and Sri Lanka and Indian foreign policy. Her PhD dissertation was titled “Democracy and Securitization: A Comparative Study of Select Internal Conflicts in India and Sri Lanka.”

Current Teaching: Dr. Maitra has been associated with teaching Political Science (Extra Departmental Courses, Jadavpur University) since 2010 and has been involved in teaching Honours courses as a full –time Faculty of the West Bengal Education Service since 2015. She has gathered expertise in Political Theory, Foreign Constitutions, International Relations, Indian Government and Politics and Public Administration.

Research Interests: o As a researcher, Dr. Maitra specialises in International Relations theory, internal conflicts in India and Sri Lanka and Indian foreign policy. Her PhD dissertation was titled “Democracy and Securitization: A Comparative Study of Select Internal Conflicts in India and Sri Lanka.” She completed her thesis as a UGC-NET JRF/SRF and was additionally awarded the Sasakawa Young Leaders’ Fellowship Fund (SYLFF) Research Abroad Award for ethnographic study and field work in Sri Lanka.

Enterprise and Commercial Activities: o Inivited Lecture in UGC-HRDC Participated in a Project by the Trehan Foundation, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Singapore, Department of International Relations, Jadavpur University, Kolkata and the International Studies Association, for upgrading international studies in India in 2009.

o Participated in a Project by the Indian Council of Social Research, New Delhi, as a part of the Sixth Round of Research Surveys on the development of scholarship in India, in the field of International Relations and Political Science, by the Indian Council of Social Research, under the title “Surveys and Explorations” in 2011.

o Chaired as Moderator in Annual Scholastic Conclaves organized by the Department of International Relations, Jadavpur University on various subjects of international politics, from 2011 to 2014. o Served as Principal Organizer (administrative post, non-remunerative), Association of Fellows, Sasakawa Young Leaders’ Fellowship Fund, Jadavpur University, Kolkata from 2008- 2011. o Organized and coordinated Panel Discussion on Foreign Policy Challenges in India’s Near East, organized by Global India Foundation, in collaboration with the Institute of Foreign Policy Studies, University of Calcutta, at the Centre for Social Sciences and Humanities Auditorium, Alipore Campus, University of Calcutta, on 9th October 2012. o Organized and coordinated International Conference on India Vietnam Ties: Retrospect and Prospect, organized by Global India Foundation, in collaboration with MAKAIAS, Kolkata and IFPS, University of Calcutta at the India International Centre (Annexe), New Delhi, India on 14th February 2012.
