1 I'm using the Arches Text Wove paper that came with my Passport Journal. It works fine, a little tooth to it, and I've tested it with all types of pens. Ballpoint pens do not work so well, but fountain pens and rollerball pens will work just fine with it.

1 Banditapple Stepforward wheat paper HP laserjet 24lb and staples lined paper (but only the one made in Brazil.)

1 I have a handful of favorites depending on the purpose of my writing: Tomoe River for correspondence and/or specialty writing because of the paper's sheening and shading properties Black n Red for professional note-taking DIY printed paper on HP 32lb laser copy paper for my personal notes/writing

1 Clairefontaine Triomphe, white 90 gsm; Rhodia Premium, cream 90 gsm; Tomoe River, cream 52 gsm; Crane & Co 100% cotton paper, ecruswhite kid finish, (no gsm listed); Crown Mill, cream 100 gsm.

1 Tomoe River, Clairfontaine French Rule, Bienfang Graphics 360 Cotton Rag, Connect A4 White bank paper, Canson Pro Layout Marker Paper

1 so far, midori writing papers and my work notebook. i don't know what kind of paper that is tho.

1 I have found that thicker/high weight papers work best with fountain pens. Generally I use Levenger pads.

1 Midori MD, a Japanese paper, is my probably my favorite. It stands up to even my wettest flex nibs with no bleeding or feathering. The paper allows beautiful color and line variation throughout a pen stroke. Ghosting on the back of the page occurs some with very wet nibs (such as my flex nibs), but not enough to be distracting. No ghosting at all with normal to dry nibs. Midori paper is very smooth and pleasant to touch, but not slick like Clairefontaine. Ink dry time is longer that with typical copy paper, since the the paper absorbs less ink. I use blotter paper between the pages when I turn them if I don't want to wait. My main complaint with Midori paper is the limited number of formats it is available in. Fortunately, it is available in A6 notebooks, which is my favorite size. My favorite European paper is Rhodia. It performs almost as well as Midori and it is much more readily available and in numerous formats. It shows nice color and line variation, very little ghosting, and little to no feathering with most wet nibs. I have used Many kinds of paper and notebooks over the years, and I'm still searching for the perfect paper/notebook combination. I've tested many (Apica CD, Apica Premium, Banditapple, Clairefontaine, exacompta, Field Notes, Filofax, Leuchtturm, Levenger, Midori, moleskine, Quo Vadis, Rhodia, Tomoe River), and they all have strong and weak areas of performance. Picking a favorite is difficult.

1 Right now I use either custom journaling papers, as well as the Allan Journals, Rhodia journal, and Filofax A5.

1 pointed pen: rhodia, clairfontaine, 90# HP watercolor, tomoe river italic: arches text wove, rives bfk, 90# HP watercolor

1 I don't know about 'favorite', but most frequent are Moleskine and drugstore mini composition notebooks.

18 Count Response

1 I love smooth papers, but am sometimes drawn to linen or textures papers as well. Rhodia is a standard along with stuff from Neenah Paper.

1 rhodia, and really anything that can handle ink, and doesn't slip easily due to texture or is too absorbent.

1 Rhodia dotPad, Baron Fig Confidant, Clairfontaine notebook (90 gsm), Furrow Books notebook, Tomoe River paper

1 Really anything cheap, I have plenty of Rhodia or Clairefontaine paper but it is the fountain pen friendly cheap paper that I use the most. Current favorite: The TOPS notebooks Target sells during Back to School.

1 Still looking for a favorite. The paper in your passport journals is definitely in the running. Another is the paper used by 's Press for the PaperStax project (trying to find out what they used).

1 Rhodia, leuchtturm and moleskine (those are hit and miss, but when you got a good one it's an incredible value), but mostly regular copier paper

1 Rhodia, Ampad Gold Fibre, Staples Bagasse, the stuff you put in the notebooks you gave away (Thank you for that.), and the stuff used by Gallery Leather in their pocket journal (a checkbook sized notebook that is my favorite size. You should check it out.)

1 Varies depending on pen, nib size, and ink. Clairefontaine/Rhodia, G. Lalo, Original Crown Mill, Crane, some old 9lb onion skin I have that you can't get any more, the heavy paper you use in your journals... it's all good, but some calls for a different pen than others. Moleskine, though I like their notebooks, is not always the best paper...

1 B&R #234 Paper for Pens 108# Bee Paper Pen Sketchers 70# 110# Plate Finished Bristol 100% Rag Drafting Vellum Arches Text (in Renaissance Art journals

1 Any paper that doesn't cause most to feather or bleed. Also, the smoother the nib glides across the page, the better.

1 I have used some paper with a high cotton percentage, I don't know the name brand but it made writing on regular paper seem like a sin, the pen seemed to slide over the paper without being glossy.

1 Currently I am using the Notabilia notebooks from Levenger. I like the weight of the paper and way ink flows on to the page.

1 I prefer paper that has the ability to absorb the ink properly. There is nothing worse than writing with fountain pen ink only to find that it either beads on the surface or turns into smeared letters from over-absorption.

1 G Lalo is my favorite paper for italic script and wetter , my second favorite is Clair Fontaine, I also like to write on Field Notes a lot.

1 I need to broaden my horizons :) I love heavy/textured/rustic paper, but until now have never pursued a particular source.

1 On a daily basis I use the "high-end" Staples reams and their yellow pads; for serious writing I use Moleskin notebooks and specialty papers from reliable retailers (primarily Origami Ink in Asheville, North Carolina, an hour's drive from my home).

1 none, but I am now using Leuchtturm notebooks over Moleskine, because I think the Leuchtturm has less bleed through.

1 Used to like sugarcane, but now that's so variable some of it is like writing on paper towels. ClaireFontaine, Rhodia R, Tsubame. Haven't fallen in love with Tomoe River like so many other people have, but it's good.

1 Lately I've been enjoying Tomo River paper. There have been some Fabriano papers I liked, but they are not easy to find.

1 Since I bought the A5 refillable journal from Renaissance Art I am a big fan of the Arche paper! Prior to that I had local handmade paper to write on.

1 Renaissance Passport Refillable notebook Any kind of bagasse (sugarcane) paper Midori notebooks A pad Gold Fiber legal pads And I write a great deal i quadrille lined composition books.

19 Count Response

1 I have three - the paper you use as standard, Clairefontaine, and Tomoe River. Depends on my mood.

1 24 lb laser paper, some composition books, but most of my writing is done on legal pads and the best are sugar cane.

1 Right now, it's vintage Watermans with flexible nibs on Rhodia dot Pad. Clairefontaine is also good for wet flexible writing.

1 I've tried Tomoe River and it's really nice though I'd like to try out Rhodia and Clairfontaine paper since my Montblanc 144 is quite susceptible to bleedthrough...

1 Various Exacompta papers for writing, and their calendar notebook as well. Also Scout Books and Rhodia pocket notebooks, and Ampad legal pads and grid paper pads.

1 Clairefontaine/various generic papers I've stumbled upon that happen to be better than most other generic paper.

1 I like a wide range of papers, for different reasons. Tomoe River and Leuchtturm are probably the ones I use most often.

1 I frequently use Rhodia paper to make notes at work. I also like Levenger pads and use those frequently.

1 Zerkall, Frankfurt Cream, Watermark Bindery, Leuchtturm (in their larger journals), Rhodia, Midori, Two Rivers (?) etc.

1 Heavy card stock, notebook paper, rite in rain and moleskine journals (don't know the type of paper but has a great feel).

1 Not Moleskine. I switched from legal pads to journals recently, but maintained what I've discovered is called a "Bullet Journal". My current is a Eccolo World Traveler Journal, which is cheap but not horribly sucky. I have a Vela lab notebook and three Rhodias waiting in the wings. I wrote a little on both, and I believe I've found a favorite with the Rhodia Webgrid, but can't seem to part with my Eccolo -- yet -- as it seems wasteful.

1 Something that is smooth, but does not bleed. There should be some tooth to it,that both my fine nib pens and my broad nibs would feel at home on.

1 Zerkall Book is really good. Original Crown Mill and G. Lalo are very good papers for fountain pens also.

1 I use Canson 90lb drawing paper (1557 Classic Cream Drawing Pad) which I insert as sheets into my journals.

1 Crane Paper is my go-to but I'm open to others. I do like what Renaissance Art uses in their journals more and more.

1 Rhodia, Clairefontaine, G. Lalo.(the texture can be troublesome its a live/hate thing, 30lb. LaserJet paper. Clairefontaine Triomphe with matching envelopes. I really like Clairefontaine French ruled notebooks too. I have a few journals that have unknown fountain pen friendly paper in them. They feel like 100g paper and maybe a slight coating but not as much as Clairefontaine.

1 Rhodia (typically dotpads), lined Clairfontaine, Tomoe River, and composition books made in or India (any brand; some are carried at CVS, some at dollar stores). I tend to like papers that have no tooth, low absorbency, and a slight slickness -- it takes longer for most inks to dry, but the shading and sheen of the inks make it more than worth it.

1 Tomoe River, certain laser copy paper, Rhodia, Clairfontaine. Basildon Bond(UK only. I have it shipped by a friend.)

1 Clairfontaine is great because it's the right amount of thickness without being heavy. Rhodia is great too, though it's a bit thinner - not sure how I feel about it yet.

1 Whatever I'm writing on at the time. Since I use it most often to take notes as I'm talking to my patients, maybe it's a legal pad. Although I also enjoy writing in my journals.

1 For sketching: Stillman and Birn Delta Series For writing at work: Levenger Circa Next Level For notetaking: i am still trying to find a great paper/ notebook for my small RA leather Cahier holder

1 G. Lalo Verge de France Clairefontaine Triomphe Crane & Crown Mill Correspondence Cards various journals

20 Count Response

1 Craines has a lovely writting papper, it does not come in pads just in a box. It is a treat to write on. I use various strathmore Sketch books to jot ideas on, as well as a Moleskine pad.

1 usually a high clay content for smoothness and no runs. Find that an artist sketch book like a moleskin works well.

1 Levenger Circa Folio paper is what I use Daily, however, my favorite is the refill i purchased through you. It is hand bound in a 4x6 format. Holds ink well and doesn't smear for a leftie like me.

1 I am currently using Moleskine and it bleeds. Other paper or notebook does not have the finish of a Moleskine.

1 I will list some notebooks. I don't know the papers by name. Apica CD series, Rhodia pads, Balck 'n Red notebooks, Etranger do Costarica memo book.

1 - Tomoe - Rhodia Premium - Quo Vadis notebook - ivory (Clairfontaine paper but seems to be a higher grade) - Rhodia Regular lined and blank - Apica (not recently)

1 I like a lot of different papers: Crane Bond, Tomoe River, Black-n-Red, and Paperblanks are my top choices at the moment.

1 Tomoe River paper is my top paper right now. I've used Mohawk Superfine and that is wonderful. Clairefontaine is a stand-by.

1 Clairefontaine - clean, smooth - all pens write well on it, but no tooth, little pen feedback Midori (various) - nice high quality - most pens work well, but more porous so little ink shading/sheen Leuchterm (journal) - nice paper but has some bleedthrough or show through with darker, wetter inks Arches (various) - lovely high quality paper but a lot of tooth and pen feedback for fountain pens - not a "daily" paper

1 Rhodia Clairfontain Vintage(60-70 year old high rag content) paper my father got from office supply co. He managed

2 Clairefontain, the paper in your journals (really!), the really thin Japanese paper whose name I've just forgotten. The paper in Leuchst (dam, there goes my brain cell again) journals

1 Rhodia, Rhodia, and Rhodia. ;) Also Clairfontaine, whatever Leuchtterm uses, and a lot of the Japanese papers. Have some Tomoe River, haven't tried it yet.

1 I appreciate good papers and have a source in a nearby town where I can get the finest French and other European papers such as Italian. There is nothing comparing to the writing with a fountain pen - first of all it does not end up in the trash because such notes are exceptional - the better the paper, the nicer the writing experience along with a good pen and good ink - all are important!

1 I like your Frankfort cream paper. Also, Rhodesia tends to not bleed through as much as some others.

1 I use a Notability notebook from Levenger for my daily journal , Moleskine and Field Notes notebooks for other tasks, such as work and meetings

1 Rhodia, Clairefontaine, Midori, TWSBI, Cavallini, Crane Airmail (out of production), APICA, Miquelrius, Moleskine, Letts

1 For daily use, such as journaling..I like Cranes. For thank you notes, it can vary depending on whether for business..(cranes) or for personal..I use a variety of handmade notes often from .

1 Leuchtterm. I also like your paper (Renaissance Art) but it's hard to write on with most of my pens. I can only use a medium point on your paper. My fine point and stub nib take extra effort.

1 Rhodia and Clairfontaine are certainly my favorite papers, whether for fountain pen or calligraphy work. Levenger's are good for fountain pen, but I've been "meh" on using it for calligraphy. After that, Canson surpisingly puts out a lot of decent paper for calligraphy work from what I've found.

1 I prefer moleskine notebooks generally. However I waste a lot of paper, because of the ink seeping into the backside of the page.

21 Count Response

1 Most used paper is 24lb laser paper, as I write quite a bit every day, however, I also enjoy sustainable earth sugercane paper, some of the Muji notebooks, Pentalic sketch books, and One other random notebook with grid. The Pentalic and other notebook get a lot of writing in the form of notes in different meetings each week (I have notebooks dedicated to notes from specific meetings). I also have Rhodia notepads that can be used for comparison.

1 1. Arches (the type you use in the leather sketchbooks you make.) 2. Cachet recycled (tan) paper. 3. Moleskin's thick paper.

1 Frankfurt - for most nibs and inks Arches - for wider nibs or snubs, otherwise the paper fibers are a bit too rough Tomoe River - for fast inks Clairfontaine - most nibs and inks Lechtturm Other Japanese papers I tend to prefer smoother papers, unless doing or artwork or calligraphy.

1 Tomoe River, no contest. It's just a pleasure write, and another fulfilling experience to look for something in the notebook, flicking through some 150 pages of lightweight, almost see-through paper. The pages glide very nicely, and both the feel of it, and sound of it is just right. To top it off, there's still about 300 blank pages left to fill - in one no thicker than normal A5 notebook. For any normal notebook purpose, look no further. Don't let the cost fool you, because you get a page count to match.

1 Clairefontaine, Rhodia, Levenger for notebooks I bind my own art journals - love, love the smooth Fabriano Artistico paper. I've also used an 80lb smooth Mohawk printmaking paper that was very nice for writing. Experimenting with Raffine ArtSketch paper. It's a heavier paper and more textured-but still a good surface to use with a fountain pen.

1 Tomoe River - clean, smooth, no feathering, minimal showthrough and bleed (unless I'm being deliberately heavy with the ink). Moleskine notebooks are decent performers, and pretty easily available. I have one Leuchtturm, which seems better, but is less available and a little more expensive. Rhodia pads also seem superior to Moleskines, but also a little harder to get and a little more expensive.

1 Smythson featherweight, Tomoe River, Rhodia. I also use Fabriano Pergamenta a lot for calligraphy and various hot press watercolour papers.

1 Claire Fontaine has been my favorite so far. I love Rhodia pads and paper, which use Claire Fontaine paper. I have moleskin notebooks of lined and sketch quality, which aren't the best for fountain pens. I also ordered one of your passport journals for my wife and she LOVES it. She writes with four fountain pens regularly and absolutely loves the paper and the handmade journal. I have two Midori journals and the paper quality depends on the inserts chosen, from rice paper thinness to sketch pad thick.

1 Super smooth paper. Although, I enjoy having a wide variety of different paper to enjoy and learn. I could always find a new favorite.

1 Rhodia is nice, and I have Clarefontaine . I have a couple of different weights of watercolor paper and the way fountain pen ink reacts to each brand/type is interesting.

1 I enjoy writing on Filofax paper and I recently purchased a calendar via crowd funding that focuses on goal setting and dreaming that is quite lovely to write on.

1 For daily use I prefer 24# office max inkjet paper. It is the most readily available reasonably price paper in my area.

1 Rhodia ICE dot pad (for and daily use) Midori Passport refills (for on the go quick jotting) G.Lalo Verge de France 'Chapagne' (for letter writing)

1 I have not found favorite papers but prefer to have papers that ink does not show the other side of paper too much. I am very interested in tasting different types of paper.

1 Tomoe River, Vergé de France, Crown Mill Coton Laid, Vergé Atelier du Papier, some recycled papers from Maki-e

1 I like most of the paper that Levenger makes, because they are cognizant of the way the ink flows on various qualities of paper and the ease of pen use for both fountain pens and rollerball pens.

1 ***** Edison Collier with "Binderized" full flex nib! Great for writing and calligraphy. - Pilot Justus (adjustable nib for hard/soft) - Pilot Custom Heritage 92, fine nib. - Pilot Custom 74, extra-fine nib. I love Pilot pens and have owned/used many. I prefer the Japanese "fine" nibs. - Sailor 1911 with Zoom nib. Fascinating! - Platinum Century 3776 with soft/fine nib. - Kaweco AL Sport (Denim) cool, little pen! - Bic ----- kidding! Even hurt to type it.

1 I have: Noodlers Konrad flex pen 70s Scheaffer, silver and black Early 30s Parker blue diamond Vaccumatic A 20s Scheaffer petite pen with a gold flex nib. Not at home, so I don't have all the specs written here!

1 Pilot Namiki vanishing point click top fountain pen and another thinner pen I think is also by Pilot that I bought years ago for my husband and reclaimed it when he wasn't using it.

1 Lamy's Al-Star and Safari models have been my workhorses, but the Parker Urban is probably my favorite to write with.

1 For usual writing...Aurora optima, Pelican, Parker 51 For journaling or writing stories - I have two custom made pens from Ryan Krusac..Gorgeous and personable..great nibs..happy to send a photo..he is very talented. For signatures or notes: I use a variety of limited edition pens that I have collected to add that personal memory to what I am writing.

1 Pilot Custom Heritage 92 with FM nib. Great weight, capacity, and design (I like demonstrators), with a glassy smooth, springy nib. The answer to the next question (nib size) is variable. I really, really like small (.6-.8) stubs, and I also like pens with flex. The pen I mentioned above is technically a fine point, unless I use more pressure, hence the following answer.

1 I am fond of my Lamy pens. They aren't expensive but they feel good in my hand. I also love my two antique fountain pens.

1 German and French made pens and mechanical . Montblanc, Waterman, Rotring (pre-), sheaffer and cross.

1 Montegrappa, Pelikan with Mottishaw flex nibs, Nimiki for fine nibs. My best pen is a tsuru to kame maki-e lacquer beauty by Nimiki. It never leaves the house though.

1 1930 Parker Duofold Deluxe Jr because it was my first 'Grail' pen and when I finally acquired it it felt it was just built for me. Pelikan M200 Classic because the BB nib really brings out the depth of tone in some of my inks.

1 I have some custom made wood pens that are stunning to look at, and I love to carry around. I have a LAMY Dialog 3, that is a treat to write with, and my 3rd most used pen is a Levenger L-tech.

1 Pilot Vanishing Point Namiki Falcon Symphony semi-flex Various Pilot pens Various Platinum pens

1 Well nibs more than pens. As long as the pen is of pretty good weight, I like to use a 1.1 stub from Goulet, and a Bock titan F. The Goulet stub nib is in an X750 now, and the titan in a Namisu Nexus Ti. For extended periods of writing, I go with lightweight pilot metro, saves ink too...

1 Waterman 52/52v (I have several all with flex nibs), my great grandfather 's Mabie Todd Swan 1500 (it survived the horrors of the Somme with him), I always have 2 twsbi pens inked (ef and 1.1mm stub) and I keep a Faber Castell Loom (f) inked in my at all times. I have over 200 pens and could go on and on!

1 TWSBI Micarta V2, Nussbaum Jon Ross, Kaweco Dia2, Bookworm 675/Yiren 601, Edison Pearlette, TWSBI Mini Classic, Pilot Namiki Custom Heritage 92

1 Namiki Falcon XF with added flex :) this is by far my favorite writing pen. i can get such a beautiful and elegant line from it.

1 I don't base it on manufacturer, it's more a question of balance and ink flow down the nib but I prefer a heavier pen.

1 I mainly use commodity roller ink pens like Pilot M class pens. Cheap. I am looking into using more fountain pens. I am also a woodturner, so I soon hope to be able to make my own pens as well.

1 I love Japanese fountain pens, especially Sailor, Pilot, and Nakaya. I like finer nibs with some degree of flex, and for my italics, i like a bit of flex in the nib and a 1.1 or 1.9 width. I use each pretty equally, if I am in a hurry I use finer nibs for cursive writting

1 Hmm.. this is tough. Pound for pound, I'd have to say that the Pilot 823 and Parker 51 are the two best pens to own overall for a variety of reasons. However, I love Stipula Etruria's and many Visconti pens as well.

1 Nakamichi vanishing point, both old and new versions, preferring the original (extra fine point), Pilot fine point (18kt) pens, ancient Parker pens like the pen my father used in his accounting work.

1 My current favorite pens are vintage Sheaffer vac fillers and touchdowns with both open nibs and triumph nibs. I carry and use 2 vac fillers and one touchdown daily (gold nibs). Second favorite daily carry right now is a vintage Parker 45 with gold nib. Finally, I have a collection of other pens inked up for use daily, including a collection of Pilot Metropolitans with EF, F, M, and Stub nibs installed. Did I mention I love pens and inks and the process of writing :)

1 I like my TWSBI Mini with an XF nib. Its small but hold a lot of ink. The XF nib is a good responsive writer but drys fast and have very little feathering of most inks I have tried.

1 Pelikan 800, several with different nibs, but usual use stubbed, italic and cursive italic nibs. I also have a small collection of Mont Blanc pens. I wrote the review of your 8.5x11 refillable journal on FPN a couple years ago.

1 I am very fond of vintage esterbrook pens and have at least 2 in different colors ( typically green and red for the notes I take). I rotate others I have a modern TWSBI and several vintage Sheaffers in regular rotation.

I use a Noodler's Konrad which I heat set a #6 1.1mm stub Goulet nib into the Noodler's ebonite feed which is nice, but I don't recommend Noodler's to newbies because of all the tinkering you can/have to do with them.

1 Visconti, Delta, Pelikan and Lamy. I have a dozen or so Mont Blancs that I drag out once a month or so and also rely on several hand-makers of specialty pens which would be too pretentious to list here.

1 TWSBI 580RG or what I believe is a waterman hemisphere with the orchid on the end of the cap.

1 My Lamy Al-Star is a go-to as it always performs. However, I received a Cross ATX fountain pen as gift, not thinking I would like it. I'll admit, I was being a bit of a snob. Although I have a Cross rollerball I love, I was skeptical. This Cross pen lays down a wonder wet line of ink and really shows off any ink I put in it. My Pelikan m200 cafe creme is a new addition that I love because it reminds me how much I enjoy a great cup of coffee in the morning as I go through my morning ritual. My Nooder's Ahab, can't be beat for the price and flexible fun. I guess I love all my pens!

1 Namanya Fountain Pen, they are Japan made by a company called Platinum. For daily writing I am using a Medium - Fine nib (Japanese size) which is slightly thinner than fa Fine European nib.

I have many Noodler's fountain pens with various nib sizes. I have several Lamy Safari pens with lots of nib sizes. Three Pilot Prera and many Jinhao pens. 1 While I have two expensive Sterling Silver Parker 75 pens with solid gold nibs, I actually enjoy writing most with my $15 Pilot Metropolitan with a steel nib. Beautiful - smooth as the inside of a toasted marshmallow.

1 I have a few, each with their own attributes. Sailor Magellan(s) for fine and incredibly smooth writing and size. Nettuno Skippers for size and plush feeling while writing with them. Several vintage pens of different make. Montblanc, Wahl Eversharp, Waterman pens from different years with flex nibs.

1 Pilot Iroshizuku line, Rohrer & Klingner, some Diamine, De Atramentis, Private Reserve/Noodler's are so-so

1 J. Herbin Bleu Pervenche, PW Akkerman Zuiderpark Blauw-Groen, PW Akkerman Resedentieblauw, Diamine Sherwood Green

1 Noodler's, Private Reserve, Waterman, Parker, J. Herbin, probably a couple of others, in a wide range of colors.

61 Count Response

1 Quite a few, but favorites are probably Waterman, Skrip and Diamine. I have some J. Herbin, Montblanc and Noodler's as well.

1 There are several brands I use Private Reserve, Noodlers, Diamine, Iroshizuku and a bottle of Akerman I recently bought but haven't tried yet

1 I currently have over 50 samples of ink and am trying to use all of them. Blues are my current favorite with Kon-Peki being number 1.

1 I have various colors of J. Herbin, Pilot Iroshizuku, De Atramentis (samples only), Waterman, Rohrer & Klingner, Faber Castell (samples only), Lamy, Caran d'Ache (samples only), and Noodlers (samples only)

1 Diamine, Noodler's, and Levenger inks regularly flow through my pens, although I tend to keep, er, a lot of samples on hand from Goulet.

1 Aurora Blue, Aurora Black, Diamine Syrah, Diamine Sherwood Green, Lamy Blue-Black, J. Herbin Lie de The, Montblanc Toffee Brown

1 Pelikan Edelstein Amethyst, Diamine Oxblood, Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-Budo, Diamine Midnight, Noodler's Black Swan in Australian Roses, Concord Grape, etc.

1 Iroshizuku, Montblanc, Graf von Faber-Castell, Pelikan Edelstein, Sailor (Kobe & Bung box), & Organics Studios (I'm a notable snob about keeping my pens inked with well behaved&lubricating inks!)

1 All of them? I have ink from several manufacturers.. diamine, j. herbin, akkerman, stipula, noodlers, others also either bottles or samples.

1 Usually blues and blue-blacks, but sometimes purples or greens. My favorites: Pilot Iroshizuku Kon-Peki, Sailor Yama-Dori, Sailor Shigure, Diamine Asa Blue

1 Pilot Iroshizuku, Diamine, J. Herbin, Noodler's, Stipulo, De Atramentis, Roher & Klingner, Private Reserve

1 Pilot iroshizuku is my new favorite but Waterman is a close second because I can mix them for the color I want

1 Kaweco, Diamine, De Atramentis, Noodler's, Kaweco, Akkerman, Pilot Iroshizuku, Private Reserve, Sailor Jentle, Monteverde

1 Pilot Iroshizuku, Caran d'Ache, Diamine, Noodlers, Private Reserve, Sailor, Waterman, Pelikan, Aurora, De Atrimentis, Lamy, J. Herbin

1 Typically Noodler's 41 Brown, and the Rohrer Klingner iron gall inks. Getting into carbon and Japanese inks now.

1 My favorite inks are Noodler's inks, but I have 60 odd bottles of ink, so I'm a pretty equal opportunity inker.

1 All kinds. Noodler's (none of the wilder ones), Pelikan, Waterman, Montblanc, basically anything well behaved with a pleasant color.

1 It varies. I think I own about 30 full-size inks (mostly Diamine, Chesterfield, and Pilot Iroshizuku), and maybe 80 or so samples of various brands. They all have different properties (flow, shading, water resistance, a specific desired color, etc.), so it really depends. I always have something inked with Noodler's Black Eel, for work. I always have something inked with Diamine Ancient Copper, for journaling. The rest are wildcards. This box should have been much larger, haha.

1 Bungbox, Diamine, Noodler's, Kaweco, Lamy, Sailor, Montblanc, Kobe, J. Herbin, Iroshizuku, Chesterfield

1 Montblanc, DeAtramentis, Noodler's, Diamine, Private Reserve, Levenger, Sheaffer, Waterman, Rohrer & Klingner

1 Too many to list. Mainly Iroshizuku, Noodler's, Diamine, and Private Reserve, but many others, too.

1 Diamine Syrah, Noodles HoD, MB 90th Permanent Grey and some other samples of PR/Diamine/Noodlers inks

62 Count Response

1 Depends on the pen..but mostly pelican and aurora black; private reserve Sherwood green or ebony purple; pilot ink's yama- budo and visconti brown

1 Iroshizuku Tsuki Yo, Iroshizuku Shin Kai, Noodler's Bad Blue Heron, Noodler's Blue Upon the Plains of Abraham

1 Private Reserve - Avacado, American Blue, Midnight Blues; Diamine - Chocolate Brown, Grey, Marine; Lamy - Turquoise

1 I tend to stick to the "old" pen manufacturers (Waterman, Parker, Sheaffer...), but I also use some Herbin, Diamine or Monteverde here and there.

1 Right now I'm using Pelikan Brilliant Black, Pelikan Turquoise, and Mont Blanc Anniversary Permanent Grey.

1 Diamine, Noodlers, Iroshizuku, Montblanc, Private Reserve, Waterman, Pelikan, Visconti, and a few others.

1 Iroshizuku, MB, Akkerman, Sailor, Pelikan, Noodler's, Diamine, Rohrer and Klingerer, DeAtramentis,Private Reserve and others

1 ESSRI, Iroshizuku Shin Kai, Sailor Sei Boku, Diamine Oxblood, Noodler's FPN Galileo Manuscript Brown

1 I have well over 15 inks. Noodles, J. Herbin, Pilot Iroshizuku, Rohrer and Klingner, Private Reserve, Diamine and more.....

1 usually cartridge, although I do have converters and have Levenger, Parker and Cross inks in several colors

1 Noodler's Bad Blue Heron, J. Herbin Orange Indien, Private Reserve DC Supershow Blue, Private Reserve Ebony Purple

63 12. Is there anything else you would like to share about your fountain pen use?

Count Response

1 Would like a blue ink recommendation!

1 A good pen will get me writing even if I don't feel like writing.

1 Actually 19 years old but that wasn't an option.

1 Also lile the "music" nib

1 Been at it for 15 years

1 Been writing with a fountain pen for 20 years. Love them.

1 Daily obsession.

1 Different ones for different moods.

1 Enjoyed the survey. Thank you!

1 Finding good paper is hard! Buying it off the shelf is always a gamble.

1 Fountain pens are my favorite writing instrument. Nothing else like it.

1 Fountain pens are the biggest pain and the greatest joy.

1 Hopefully, it's obvious that I love fountain pens.

1 For me it is an elegant way to write, and I enjoy going to fountain pens shows, and seeing friends.Through pens I have met many wonderful people.

1 I became a full-time fountain pen user about 3 years ago. I love sampling different inks, different papers and different pens all the time.

1 I work in a shop that sells some fountain pens. At first I had no idea why anyone would want to use a fountain pen over a rollerball or ballpen. Then I bought myself a Lamy Safari and fell in love; not long after I'd bought myself some cool ink colours and ever since then I've been writing with fountain pens every single day.

1 I flip pens occasionally to make money, but mainly as a hobby, and to afford other pens! I started quite recently, but have quickly started amassing pens thanks to the generous community! I also, very quickly, developed an affinity for vintage pens, as well.

1 There is nothing like using a fountain pen! I have to use non gel ballpoint at work (lab tech) so it is a relief to write with a fountain pen!

1 I write a lot. I usually use multiple pens (4-5) for any set of notes, as I like to separate notes and emphasize with color. I also love ink, and have a huge collection of ink, from premium inks to very budget oriented inks, and haven't taken notes with a pen other than a fountain pen in ages. Further, I am always experimenting with papers to see how they behave with different inks. For example, one of the papers I have been using works wonderfully with Sailor Shigure, and Noodler's Lexington grey, but feathers really badly with Levenger's Greystoke (the worst feathering I have seen from an ink) or Noodler's Baystate Blue, however the Levenger's Greystoke behaves really well in the Pentalic sketchbook. I believe I can help you, and at the same time benefit myself, since I am always looking for good paper. I have pens inked from EF to Broad, with stubs and architect grinds thrown in. I believe I have 20+ pens inked today, with 18 different inks.

1 a. Ink collection is now just over 250 different shades. b. Awaiting my Sailor nib collection to getting to now the ultimate Sailor nib. c. used to love F and XF nibs, now switching to broads and stubs. At work B-nibs are better during meetings, and there are at least three different colors used in a meeting.

1 I tend to use the pens mostly for work note taking and diarising, and for journaling when I travel.

1 I love using fountain pens because they are all different, and have something about each one that I love. I get asked by my co- workers all the time about them and love sharing, usually handing my pen right to them (with a bit of trepidation I must admin) because I want them to experience something new they may fall in love with.

1 I have emotional memory for some of my pens. They represent gifts from loved ones or mark significant events.

1 While I can appreciate the aesthetics of the pens, I'm more about practicality. I don't collect them for the sake of collecting.

1 As opposed to using a ballpoint, writing with a fountain pen forces me to slow down and focus on what is actually being set down on paper.

1 I am an equal opportunity pen, ink and paper user. I love anything that makes a mark and anything I can make more colourful.

1 I'd be lost without Fountain pens, they make writing so much more enjoyable, I've even convinced some of my work colleagues to use them and they great presents for children, gets them interested in a great skill and art.

1 I love to journal and have tried a number of papers and bound journals. I have a wide range of nibs I can test out to show shading/feathering.

1 Writing with a fountain pen is a commitment--a lot of people don't have the patience for it. You have to take care of your pens. Gel pens and ballpoints are nice and handy (I love the Japanese rollerballs and gels). But for serious journaling, poem-crafting, essay-crafting, and letter-writing, I use a fountain pen. These kinds of activities are fountain pen worthy.

1 I would like to venture into a MontBlanc would love to know the difference a custom nib would make for the experience

1 I'm a fountain pen nut. I restore old pens and save like mad to buy new ones. My grandad taught me how to look after and repair pens (starting with that MTS 1500 of his father's) and I have never looked back using what he taught me. It started a lifelong love of writing, pens and penmanship.

1 I use a FP daily. I typically use a fine nib for writing and a stub nib for signature. Love your products and would love to review papers.

1 I am glad my husband has decided this is an "endearing quirk" rather than having me diagnosed with OCD

1 I write block script and cursive, depending on how the mood strikes me. Some of my pens have custom nib work done by nibmeisters. My writing is a combination of technical writing for work, and writing for pleasure.

1 Good paper makes a big difference. Good paper doesn't have to be great to be good, meaning it shouldn't cost an arm and a leg to show off ink properly. Black N Red succeeds well here. Having a page perforation option is always awesome. Someone out there really needs to make pen cases more suitable to 5" pens and smaller. Every pen case out there is built for pens the length of small missiles. An adjustable flap case could cleverly accommodate larger and smaller pens if done right.

1 I have always been interested in pens and paper. I actually used to frown upon fountain pens, but then I actually picked one up and used it! Now it's a very slippery slope!

1 I am really just breaking into fountain pens I've got two more that I'm repairing. I'm focused more on budget friendly pens like esterbrook and sheaffer so I can give a college kid on a budget perspective if you'd like!

1 Most of my pens are from China, I am fairly new to the fountain pen world, you can get a lot of information on preferred papers and inks at the Fountain Pen Network (www.fountainpennetwork.com) and I'm sure they would be delighted to contribute to your survey! Quite a few of us have been happily extolling the virtues of the Journal you have been giving away (myself included!)

1 I love penmanship and fountain pens. The physical craft of writing is immensely important to me as a writer.

1 I use fountain pens for everyday tasks. I am a teacher, and I almost always do my grading with a fountain pen (though poor paper quality sometimes makes this impossible)

1 I have been writing with fountain pens exclusively (I do use pencil but no ball point pens) for about forty years.

1 I don't know if I'm the only one, but I use it for the practicality. Before, I hated writing; now, I try to find excuses to write.

1 I am relatively new to fountain pens, but am really enjoying my new hobby. I have a variety of pens with different nib sizes.

1 Have found need for broader nib w/greater ink flow for more porous papers - so will use M or Italic Med as needed.

1 My pens tend toward less expensive, and frequently used. I prefer stubs, but use XF, F, at least weekly, and my M 51 daily.

1 I use my fountain pens every day. Signed my first business contracts in 1970 with the same fountain pen I used last week to purchase a new home in Arizona. 70 Count Response

1 Everything I write with a fountain pen is more considered, somehow more meaningful to me. That sounds a little strange and is purely my thought but I seem to take more care writing with a fountain pen. The paper that is written upon would be just as important.

1 Have been a fountain pen user since a child. I still have a Parker 51 that was a graduation present in 1951. That pen is still occasionally used.

1 I have been using FPs since high school and my fingers are close to permantly stained from filling my pens (the only time I use cartridges is on travel in my Parker Duofold- with Aurora cartridges).

1 About the review question below: My collection has about 100 pens. I could use ones that you wanted to exercise — say, Japanese pens, or expensive pens, or Italians, or a cross-section. I can send you an inventory if that would make it easier.

1 I write at least half page nightly, trying to keep in practice. Will be trying different inks soon, and looking to try a stub - wanting some variety.

1 I love the feel & flow of a fountain pen. Additionally, I like to see people's reaction when they ask to "borrow my pen" only to learn that it is a fountain pen.

1 i LOVE LOVE drawing with them! i wish i were better at drawing with them. but mostly i love writing.

1 I feel like a lot of the fountain pen bloggers actually start off grounded and become snobs. It's a wonderful hobby and I feel like its been ran down by the idea that we need to own so many pens and paper... I feel like they easily forget where they came from. I use my pens mostly in business, but keep a couple of personal journals.

1 I am a high school English teacher, most of my writing is done on terrible copy paper...it makes me sad...

1 I have over 60 inks, that after selling 40 or so, but between my girlfriend and I, we have at least 150. Stopped counting. - I prefer Iroshizuku inks for their consistency, color range, and most of all smoothness, but I also have favorites in other brands (Noodler's Black Swan in Australian Roses! The original formula only, which just became available again.) - Some of the new Sailor inks are gorgeous with great shading. - Diamine has some fine new colors. - Platinum Carbon Black! Great permanent ink for writing and artwork. Plays well with watercolor! - Both Joan (my partner) and I are fountain pen (and ink) addicts. We are also artists. - I also use and enjoy natural hair brush pens. - I tune my own pens unless there is a problem beyond my amateur scope.

1 Good paper in crucial. Good ink is crucial. But one doesn't always work with the other in every combo.

1 I have been using my fountain pens and writing in general to cope with my current depression. I have since created a journal for daily writing and I have also been keeping track of certain aspects of my life within another journal.

1 I write for the sake of writing. I do ink art too (I'm not any good but I like to do it). I always have lots of pens on the go. I have a huge collection of inks and pens old and new

1 Geez, I love fountain pens, the ink, writing with them, cleaning them, and getting instant "henna" hands, especially when refilling with Noodler's Bay State Blue!

1 I use my pens daily, or whenever I write, and have owned and used a fountain pen since I was in Jr. High School (the cheap, leaky Sheaffer cartridge pen with the washable blue ink). I also collect and occasionally use antique dip pens and nibs. I often give fountain pens as gifts to younger family and friends.

1 I love trying new pens and ink and papers. I have modern and vintage pens and an embarassing amount of ink

1 I find that a broad, very free-flowing nib works best on Renaissance Art journal paper. I enjoy the texture of the paper but fine nibs sink in readily, and it seems to absorb ink like a sponge.

1 Before I went to the Pilot gel, I used a Rapidograph Drafting pen with different points (interchangeable, based on desired line width) - now most mechanical drawing is CAD generated.

1 Not actually about my fountain pen use but age! I'm soon to be 18 so I don't actually fit in the age brackets you have set up.

1 I have been collecting both vintage and contemporary fountain pens for over 20 years since I was about 10. As my collection has grown, I have learned how beautifully complicated fountain pens can be; as well as if you take the time to master the use of the pen with the right ink and paper for that pen, one can create a beautiful work of art and have an amazing experience doing it.

1 I love colors, I love ink, I love pens.. and yes, I also love paper. The best part of my day is choosing the pens/inks and paper I will be taking to the office. I wished I had more time to play with ink/pens/paper. Claudia

1 I've only been collecting for about 4 years. I often try them and sell ones that I don't enjoy. For me a pen is more of a tactile experience than a visual one, but I do enjoy a beautifully crafted pen as long as it has get up and go. Japanese ebonite pens, especially with eyedropper fillers are my favorite.

1 I like optimizing the nibs on my old pens for a better ink flow or writing style. That and mixing inks to get a good ink colour and flow.

1 My job requires me to handwrite on lowest common denominator paper everyday, so I tend to stick to "well behaved inks". That's why I like to mix it up when I get home and I can write at my own leisure.

1 I usually carry a mix of modern and vintage pens--the moderns for quick note taking in meetings and the vintage for less harried writing. The nibs vary in size and flexibility.

1 I use fountain pens for their elegant simplicity. I'm not a "snob", I just love that feel of scratching out notes or laying down a journal entry.

1 If I am invited to eat at someone's home, I always hand write a Thank You card, with my fountain pen, and send it snail mail. For something so normal to me, the recipients are often flabbergasted to receive such a thing.

1 I have 2 fountain pens. My edc and a backup. I have been using each for 5 or 6 years. In the other pen I use the same ink and a fine nib.

1 Fountain pens are my preferred pen unless I have to write through nine carbons... most of my writing is correspondence, with a little journalling here and there. I have both vintage and modern pens, but nothing "uninked" or collector-only; in my view, my pens are to be used.

1 Got me interested in improving my handwriting and correspondence with friends. I end up lending out my pens to several friends and enjoy posting ink/pen pictures to social media too.

1 I have contributed and reviewed fountain pens, inks, and paper for years on The Fountain Pen Network, while assisting others with their collections and in the use of the Fountain Pen. My 1st choice of your papers is Zerkall Book, 145gsm white/smooth (best nibs M-B & stub italic), however the paper is too thick for daily use; 2nd choice is Frankfurt 120gsm, white (too much tooth); 3rd choice Frankfurt 120gsm creme (difficult to read and too much tooth); 4th choice Arches Text Wove 120gsm creme (difficult to write on with any nib and too toothy); All above papers are far too absorbent for good daily writing paper.

1 I have found that I use fountain pens depending on my mood of the time. If I need to have a decision, I use Mont Blanc on a thicker paper than usual.

1 (This is in regard to the 13th question. I live in , though I'm an American citizen. I would love to try your paper, but I don't think it would be easy for us).

1 Can't live without them & can't wait to try a Conklin "bladder" pen - Mark Twain edition of course.

1 The paper you have given in the smal passport size journals isn't bad I like it but for the finer tipped pens it causes the fountain pen to catch a bit because its rougher paper.

1 I cannot imagine life without a fountain pen. I was brought up with them and have always used them. I'm way past the experience stage.

72 Count Response

1 I use pens for a little bit of everything, if they are suited to the work (some inking and sketching requires different tools). For journaling or general writing, however, I'm convinced that nothing is better. If you get a pen at a suitable weight and diameter, there is very little impact on the hand/wrist -- makes long writing sessions very enjoyable. Aside from viewing the pens as useful tools, I think the thing that stands out most about this hobby is how kind, mature, and helpful the community is. Just great people.

1 In the last six months, I have delved deep into the fountain pen world, and would be interested in expanding my interests into papers as well.

1 The art of handwriting is dying, so I like to use a fountain pen to help preserve the elegance of personality expressed through written word

1 I use my fountain pens for letter writing and journal entries. Paper is real important especially when I write with a Stub nice.

1 I have been using a Parker Vector for over 30 years. (Not the same one! A succession of them.) They're inexpensive. I prefer writing with a fountain pen because my penmanship is not too good, and it's worse with a ball-point, because there's not enough resistance. The steel nib of the Vector gives good resistance.

1 Combination of writing. Notes letters etc. (F-> m nib) And math (which is what I use the xf nib for).

1 Have only been into fountain pens for about a year now and having so many different inks available it amazing

1 I use three pocket notebooks constantly, so reasonably quick drying paper is important. I do some journaling in larger notebooks. I prefer white paper for my notebooks. I like lined, dotted, or gridded pages. Lines should be unobtrusive in color. I don't like perforated pages in a notebook. Numbered pages is a big plus, but is uncommon.

1 I am addicted! I make random lists just so I can use my pens. I could live with one pen at work, but I currently have 6 inked and ready to go

1 The majority of my pen collection is modern, but I do have a few vintage and NOS pens: Parker Vacumatic from c. 1936 Parker 51 c. 1960s Pilot L-150MS c. 1960s Sheaffer Imperial 330 c. late 1970s - early 1980s Pilot Elite c. 1990s Platinum PE- 500 c. 1990s

1 Most of my pens are modern, but I'm beginning to acquire and restore some easy-to-fix vintage pens.

1 For me, the physical act of writing is as important as what I am writing. I enjoy the feel of ink on paper, and I have definite preferences as to what I like. When everything is right for me, my journaling is a form of meditation. I have tried a number of different papers to find ones I like, but I also like paper in general so I always enjoy trying new ones.

1 I essentially only write with fountain pens. I use multiple nibs, but prefer medium to broad, often stubbed or ground to cursive italic. I have over 200 pens including Vintage pens and well over 300 inks.

1 I started using fountain pens early in my second or so year of college. They really helped me focus on writing and thus were valuable in learning. I am excited to continue this trend through graduate school.

1 Nothing except for the fact that I likely use my pens at work 90% of the time. I am, to say the least, in the minority, but there are at least 2-4 diehards who nod knowingly when we pass each other in the hallway.

1 Best is bottled ink and piston cartridge--Generally shy away away from ink cartridges. Use Fine tip on short correspondence....Medium in journal

1 I wish there were local resources to reach out to but fountain pens and their use, as well as decent paper and ink, have almost vanished here.

1 I try not to write with anything else, although sometimes aim have to. Didn't discover it until about 20 years ago when I was already 45, but I've never looked back.

1 I love traditional ways journaling, leather note books, good quality paper, nice quite ambience, candlelight, nice music, and a good pen to put my thoughts down.

1 As youth, in Africa, I was proud to purchase my first fountain pen from a road side trader in grade 5. As with such things, modernization and innovation replaced the fountain pen with the BIC Stick! Then the era eradicated most writing and we were left with transient messaging with little substance and much in ego! When I decided some 10 years ago, to purchase some fountain pens, I did so because I wanted the messages I send to be at least read, considered and re-considered rather than relegated to the cyber-dump via the DELETE key, never to be resurrected. I am amazed at the reactions I receive to the time involved creation of messages which are re-read, and kept as mementos. Yes, if something is worth saying, it is worth saying well and with a fountain pen!

1 Fountain pens can be frustrating to use! I have moved towards using them as dip pens. I have a whole system I've developed for that. Eliminates clogging issues entirely.

1 I am a working artist and keep extensive journals with collage and . I incorporate text into my work in addition to writing daily. I also use many types of water soluble media to create text. How paper behaves with ink and pen is often a great indicator of how it will behave with other media and adhesives. I use a variety of materials.

1 Fountain pens are love, Fountain pens are life. In all honesty, I've only been using fountain pens for a year and a half, which is surprising since I've been drawing since I was a single-digit age. Once I discovered how much of a joy they are to use, I began a collection and expanded it to including rebuilding vintage pens. I cringe every time I'm forced to use a , which is why I carry at least one with me at all times.

1 I enjoy just the feeling if using them. Often times I just pass the time by writing random words just so i enjoy fountain pen use.

1 I'm not a professional by any means, but I love my fountain pens, the various inks I use and my Rennaisance Passport Refillable Book.

1 I use them primarily for my work with the National Park Service at high altitudes and in inclement weather and they have always served me well as functional tools

1 I just love writing and like to use nice stationary in school. It helps me stay focused and makes me enjoy doing work (im an engineering student)

1 I never liked ball points, but sometime in high school or college, I switched to rollerballs. About 12 years ago, I found a couple of the cartridge pens in the back of my desk drawer and thought I'd try them again. Then I bought a "real" fountain pen and never looked back. (When I was in elementary school, I didn't realize my cartridge pens were "real" fountain pens, because "real" ones were what my parents used with ink from a bottle.)

1 I used to use only use vintage pens. I love the early Shaeffer Balances, Waterman eye droppers and early hard rubber lever fillers. But keeping all the pens in working order is time-consuming and expensive. Still love the look and feel of them though!

1 I've been writing with a fountain pen since I was 4 years old.. My grandmother taught me how to write using her Schaeffer.

1 I enjoy using a fountain pen but don't have a lot of opportunity. I also have calligraphy skill and have broad-tipped pens for that work.

1 I share your passion for writing and think the experience of writing with and caring for fountain pens adds to the experience of making penmanship a "craft" and joy, adding to the pleasure of writing. It also releases more character in my handwritten notes which I would sorely miss going back to generic pens!

1 It is my favorite passion. I write in 4-5 journals each day, pen at least 2 letters a day and love to experiment with inks and papers.

1 Great for reflection and general writing. In this digital age, it's nice to slow down and be deliberate with something. Inking the pen, writing, cleaning, and the array of colors available make it fun and relaxing for me.

1 I prefer fountain pens and paper over any other writing options. For work I mostly use fine or medium point, for correspondence and journaling I like a stub or flexible nib.

1 Personally I find writing with a fountain pen much closer to my thoughts. When I am at my keyboard the words go down faster, but I revise much more and more often.

1 Each of my pens has a different notebook/journal that it works in. Acme is for Morning Pages on Piccaddilly notebook, MB for my Desk Journal on a Plan Ahead 400 sheet notebook. The MonteVerde is my EDC. I write letters on either the Japanese Tomoe River single sheets in A5, or the Rhodia Pad(s). Yes, I still write letters...

1 just that, sketching &writing is an essential part of my everyday and that since i've started using fountain pens i find it so hard to use anything else :)

1 fountain pens are nice for travelling - prefer the dip pens for at home when I have time to reflect on what I'm writing.

1 Left-handed, recently retrained from overhook to underhook, like a right-hander was taught, and changed to Italic style. Was tired of my unreadable scratches and smearing ink on my hand as I wrote.

1 I love paper and ink and fountain pens very much. I have been using fountain pens since I was a little girl, and then stopped for awhile, until I was older and began using them again, back around 2000, so I have a fair amount of experience using fountain pens and quality papers and inks :) They make me very happy :)

1 I'm a FP fanatic and get most of my supplies from Goulet Pens. That's how I found out about your company, as a matter of fact. I belong to their Ink Drop subscription, and I have a long practice of using a different ink color each day in my journal. I am very picky about the paper I use, that's why I don't use Moleskine or Field Notes. Nice notebooks, bad paper.

1 While each of my favorite pens each have a slightly different nib I find that the paper I use has the single biggest impact on how much I like the writing experience. I'm often writing on crappy office paper so when I switch to good paper it's such a dramatic jump - the writing feel, the way the ink looks because it speeds less AND the color of the paper combined with how the ink's color appears on good paper.

1 They feel like I'm connecting to writers of classics. They feel Victorian and steampunk-y. They're just fun!

1 Writing with fountain pens has helped improve my handwriting. Using a fountain pen forces me to write more slowly and carefully.

1 I have lots of pens by different manufacturer's, and I increasingly am frustrated by papers. One of the reasons I chose to only use Noodler's inks was in an effort to find consistency in identifying good papers. Most of my use is writing in small notebooks which I use for ideas, as my lab notes, and for professional (research) notes.

1 I use my FPs everyday. I carry a RB with a gel filler, or a BP as backup. Some pens I use on days I need to go to the bank or know I will be writing on crap paper so the ink won't feather and obscure the letters. As a person who earns money writing, and taking a lot of notes on paper before typing, I am particular about my pens and papers. BTW, I use your notebook when interviewing farmers for my writing (I write about food) and it works great.

1 For me while I regularly use fountain pens for writing, I use calligraphy fountain pens far more often.

1 I don't write for business or as part of any job. I write because I enjoy the act of writing and drawing.

1 I think you would make a killing if you created a fountain pen or ink log like you do your wine log and fishing log!

1 I am still new to the FP world. I started about an year ago and love it. They are functional art. I work in the IT field, but I love the old world notebook and FP for my day to day notes, schedules and journaling.

1 I'm in technology, so I don't have a work reason to use pens, but I try every day to find reasons to write with my fountain pens!

1 At work I use XF or XXF nibs to write or a fat stub for my signature. At home I like using full flex (still learning) and dip nibs.

1 I have about 1500 fountain pens. I've just started restoring many of them. I plan on selling them to pay for my collecting habit. I can't really say how many I consider in my collection (maybe 50-100?); it depends on which I can let go.

1 There is nothing like picking up my favorite pen and writing a note to a friend. I enjoy the writing process, the finished product, and the joy of addressing the envelope. In question 10 there wasn't a category for a calligraphy flat nib, which is one of my favorites.

1 I use my pens for journaling, caligraphy, and sketching and incorporate many nib sizes for almost everything I do. I mainly use bottled ink, but on occasion use cartridges .

1 College student, use them daily for notes and correspondance. Also use dip pens a lot with stub nibs and practice calligraphy

1 Got a 1:1 macro lens for the sample photos... Looking forward to participating. Always interested in trying out new stuff.

1 I love to use fountain pens because they are beautiful and ecologically friendly as well as more economical in the long run. I write a lot as both a writer and a PhD student in literature, so saving on pens is important.

1 I write several pages a day. I keep a journal, write to pen pals, and am working on a very ambitious project - transcribing the Bible.

1 I mostly write at work rather than writing stories or journals. My to-do lists, things to remember, phone call notes, etc. I keep 4 pens inked in different colours and switch between them between notes so that it's easier to parse when I'm reading back through my notebook later on. 2 F nibs, 1 M, and 1 1.1mm stub.

1 I only started using fountain pens a year ago after I was given my Great-Grandmother's Esterbrook desk pen set. I really like the feel and style of using a vintage fountain pen, but haven't found the right paper as yet to use with the various nibs that I have for the pens.

1 I use flex pens a bit, which put down a massive amount of ink, so the paper I use has to be able to keep up. Some showthrough is forgivable, any bleedthrough is not, (unless it came from a flex pen...)

1 Started love affair with fountain pens in grade school. While my marriage did not last my affair with fountain pens is still going strong.

1 I'm not really a collector. I've had a few fountain pens over the years, and written with many more. In the end, after having passed everything else on. My daily writer/work horse is my S.T. Dupont Elysee. It writes like a dream and the nib carries wonderfully across different sheet stock and is a great nib for testing paper.

1 I just started using fountain pens about a year ago...now I use them everyday. I take a lot of notes at work and I journal also.

1 The old Parker 51 pens, areometric, not vac, are smooth, ink dries quickly. No comparison with gel pens, etc. I have been told by Court Reporters (stenographers), before stenotype machines, that they generally used violet ink because they could write fastest with that color.

1 Papers i currently use:' Tomoe River, Maruman Mnemosyne Inspiration, Crane & Co. Fabriano, Amalfi, Clairefontaine, Rhodia, Midori MD, Oblation Papers & Press, Black n' Red, ..

1 I enjoy using both vintage and modern pens. I use the for both work and keeping personal journals. Occasionally, I write letters and mail them to friends.

1 I LOVE the feel of a fountain pen, but finding paper that can manage one is tough going! I like the refillable journals that you make, although I find that I need a fine nib to control ink bleed.

1 I have to use a variety of paper styles during my workday. Mostly cheaper quality. I have had ample opportunity to see how different papers behave with fountain pen inks.

1 It's a joy to use them with different inks and papers. Sometimes I even go so far as to match up ink colors to the colors of the pen bodies. :)

1 In question 10, I chose "stubbed" because a stub nib lays down a lot of ink, similar to my flex nibs, which is what I use most often when writing on my own paper. Flex nibs are very demanding on paper. I typically use a fine nib if I have to use someone else's paper, since a fine nib lays down less ink and works acceceptably on good copy paper. I love experimenting with different paper/nib/ink combinations.

1 I love all of my pens, from the cheapest Metropolitan to my Danitrio, they have been, are now, and always will be a part of who I am.

1 I use a wide variety of nib sizes, from Pilot XF to a 1.9 mm music nib. I am really excited you're testing new papers!

1 I am also an avid journaler and paper lover, but it must be FP friendly. Also I chose stub because medium cursive italic nibs were not a choice.

1 I enjoy the flair it gives my handwriting and the feeling of writing with one as opposed to other types of pen. Even when I can't use a fountain pen I use a liquid ink roller with broad tip.

1 I try to find as many excuses as possible to write with my pen(s). I have my vanishing point with me just about everywhere except the pool. So far my favorite FP-friendly notebooks are the Quo-vadis Habana and the Apica.

1 As I said, I make and sell custom designed fountain pens. I make the pens on a metal lathe; if you are interested, visit my site: www.somethingwritepens.com. I also use Italic and F nibs as well as M; you limited me to one choice, so I listed the nib size I use most often. However, JoWo medium and Japanese medium are not equivalent, as the Japanese nibs run smaller, e.g. Japanese medium more like JoWo Fine.

1 My grandfather and father used fountain pens extensively. I loved the various colors and effects the different nibs created. I started to borrow my father's pens until one day he gave me my first one. From there, my collection has grown. I have subscribed to various subscriptions to test different inks, which I use to grade papers and write daily in my journal. It's a passion that connects me to my father.

1 I draw with my fountain pens...not write. Drawing can take a toll on a fountain pen. I also use a water brush to add tone to the drawings so the paper I use must stand up to both a sharp pen and water.

1 Started using a Fountain Pen way back in the late 1950s. Was a great way they use to teach us how to hold a Pen to help us learn how to write.

1 It's a great feeling of nib gliding on good paper. Life is too short to use bad paper. I have one of your journals, by the way...

1 I use my pens for both writing and sketching or doodling. I vary the nibs I use and pens to the tasks I will be using. Most of my nibs are F or M, but I have some in just about every nib size.

1 I enjoy the feel and line it puts down. As long as the paper is of good quality and it doesn't bleed.

1 I'm a college student; I do a lot of biology, math, and computer science, and I love using my pens as much as possible. I also journal and write short stories for fun!

1 I am a new person to FP's over the last couple of years, but have built up a collection, enjoy writing, but fancy pens does not equal fancy penmanship. I write small, and typically "print", not write, although I incorporate lots of "looping" in my print.

1 I am an active member of Fountain Pen Network and review pens, papers and inks there, as well as at Goulet Pens.

1 I picked medium on nib size, but I tend to either use fine/EF, or Broad. I use the broad nibs with inks that have better shading or otherwise "expressive" and use fine/EF for my more "run of the mill" inks.

1 Still looking for the "Grail" pen, but I think my daily writer would get jealous (the Pilot VP). I'm waiting for my family to have an intervention regarding my pen/notebook obsession.

1 Used fountain pens in grade school in the 50's. Cleaned out my '65 Sheaffer in '96 and started using them at work. Continued through the late '90's & until I retired in 2013. Brian Goulet's passion hit me in 2013 when I discovered his videos and web site. Then I discovered FPN. Now I use them almost exclusively for: daily notes, personal journal, letters to friends and family, handwriting practice, Christmas cards, or just for the fun of it. I have nibs from Pilot & Platinum EF, F, M, B and US or European EF, F, and M. Also stub nibs up to 1.5 mm.

2 There's something very personal and eloquent about using a fountain pen, and the more personal the writing is, the more I want the flow and connection - as well as the history - of a fountain pen.

1 I also use wax seals for letter and typically use Atlier Gargoyle wax If you send me paper, I will try it with many diferent pen and ink combinations

1 This would be lovely for my brother, Wm, who uses fountain pens more than I. [email protected]. He is a Rotary Fellow who is schooled at Oxford, and has been a visiting professor; attorney.

1 I have converted a few people to fountain pens over the years through careful donations of pens from my own collection. As I tend to write slower with a fountain pen, I have time to relax, think about the next sentence and really just enjoy the experience.

1 I enjoy writing and drawing with fountain pens. I love the different ink options and the variation between pens that is possible. I love writing with flex nib pens as well.

1 I have been trying to transition into using fountain pens for everything, including the journal I just bought from you!

1 I have been testing papers and pens and inks for my personal use for a number of years, including samples I received from Renaissance Art many years ago.

1 I carry a Pilot Metropolitan as a daily pen, and use two Parker Urbans and a Sonnet as my office pens for letters, manuscripts, and editing work.

1 There is just something magical about using a fountain pen. It is not like I am really writing. It is more of a process that connects me more closely to applying ink, my thoughts, to paper in an artistic .

1 I listed stubbed as my most often used as stubbed (it is my favorite type). Hovever my Esterbrooks typically have fine nibs installed and the vintage Sheaffers I use are mostly medium nibs.

1 Finding the right combination of nib/feed, ink and paper is like the search for the Holy Grail. Often times, the epiphany comes more as an accident as I stumble upon the correct combination, like a lightening bolt from the heaven's.

1 I carry two in my pocket every day and at least 4 more on my bag. I mostly use them to draw and sketch. But I write with them daily as well. This is my blog: http://wentsketching.blogspot.com/

1 I'm a technical nerd by profession (Sales Engineer) who uses a Moleskine and 3x5 cards to keep track of projects/to-do's (with fountain pens only of course)!

1 I'm an avid fountain pen user and ink nut. :) I pastor a church and so I have the privilege of writing daily. I hand write all my sermons (twice) before typing them out. This affords me the privilege of getting to experiment with multiple inks and pens. There's more I could say, but I'm working so I have to sign off.

1 I love using them and trying out crazy ink colors. It is fun to not be boring and the same as everyone else.

1 I always appreciate well-done reviews of ink and paper and would enjoy helping to create some for you.

1 I've used sketchbooks as journals. The paper I like is that does not show echo or bleed troughs with the wettest inks.

1 The paper is as important as the pen. Surely there are many of us searching for lovely papers. I'm really looking forward to your published reviews. I enjoy getting your newsletters by the way - you've got a good thing going!

1 I use fountain pens exclusively at work and home. It's slightly more trouble but it's definitely worth it in my mind. I would love the opportunity to try some fancy paper as I mostly use standard printer or note book paper throughout the day.

1 I'm passionate about fountain pens and paper. I collect different papers from different parts of the world.

1 More a collector than a user since I have arthritis in hand which makes it now easier to type than write:-)

1 I like slick types of paper that let the ink bead on the surface for a fraction of a second before being absorbed. I like white to bright-white papers that show the ink's true colour.

1 They are an addiction! there are some very interesting designs coming out that are made by individuals...tough to get a hold of though. It would be great to have one of the big fountain pen shows come to NM...

1 Rollerball pens are nice, but nothing compares with the joy and shear fun of writing with a fine fountain pen. I also enjoy to process of maintaining and filling my ink pens. All of this adds up to an experience and not just another task.

1 Use daily, would like a good pouch for carrying them so that they don't rub each other, or get damaged

1 buy pens from John Mottishaw .8-1.0 cursive italic and several XF Spencerian modification (added flex). Paper type everything. Use different pens w/ different inks on different papers.

1 Although I am technically savvy, I love the feel of a nib as it writes on paper. I also like finding the perfect combination of pen,.ink and paper.

1 I'm a staunch advocate of fountain pens at work and got a couple of coworkers "infected" with the virus.

1 You didn't list many of the nib sizes I use. OBB BB italic. Do you know you're about to recreate what already exists on FountanPenNetwork.com ?

1 $1000 spent on a fountain pen will last much, much longer that the same amount spent on a computer.

1 While slower than keyboard writing it is far more pleasurable and brings a permanence and the joy of re-reading. I especially like looking over notebook journals from the past. I enjoy the heft and feel of a quality instrument and the smooth glide of a quality nib and fine ink.

1 Please, please, please consider a paper that can be used for sketching as well as writing! My needs are very similar to needs of writers, but with two additional criteria: blank pages (unlined) and slightly heavier sheet so that there's no show-through on the back. On my personal blog, which is mostly devoted to sketching, I occasionally review papers, ink and pens (here's one example: http://tina-koyama.blogspot.com/2015/04/product-review-canson-xl-mix-media-and.html), and I would be happy to review whatever paper samples you send.

1 I'm a science teacher and love my fountain pens-- I even have a few students who have gone out to get their own disposable fountain pens!

1 I use them for sketching, both fine and medium point. I don't have any objection to testing, but checked no since my use for them isn't writing so it would not be very useful to you. But I did want to make you aware that not all FP users are using them for writing.

1 I like to use a broad point to sign checks and official documents. Generally my medium point pilot is used for everything else. Alas today, the times I actually write, even check signatures is getting less and less.

1 I am a casual user, I cannot use the fountain pens at work as they are not multi-part form friendly but I'm trying to get myself into journal writing more often so I have a reason to use my pens and ink. Fountain pens are less fatiguing than regular pens as less pressure is required to use them, so it makes for note taking in a journal more friendly. I have started taking my passport size journal to work so i can take notes.

1 It is great to hear you are looking for a more fountain pen friendly paper. Arches Text Wove is a great paper in all aspects except it absorbs the ink and stifles any shading a fountain pen ink could have.

1 I enjoy mechanical pencils as well. I'm also 16 years old (your age category doesn't have any option below 21).

1 I used a fountain pen, even (way) back when I was in High School. I am sorry to say, I won't be any help to your survey, as my pens have always been Office Depot box standard (Monteverde, etc.), and in recent years I have even let those fall by the wayside. I don't know why...a fitting pen and fresh paper have always been one of life's greatest of pleasures to me. Reading your blogs over the past several weeks have re-awakened the yearning to be diligent, and deliberate, and allow that facet of myself to be stirred to life once again. Phew! All that to say--I am very interested in the results of your survey. Please consider sharing your findings with those of us who are not--yet--collectors of fine fountain pens. I am anxious to begin the quest of assembling, and actively searching for, the tools that free my inner journey! :) Thanks! Frances

1 I wish I had the time to write more. I keep a paper planner just so that I have an excuse to write!

1 I'm not a calligrapher or even a writer. I just like to fuss with different pens, inks and letterforms :)

1 I bought a couple of journals from you recently. They are beautiful, and I get a lot of compliments on them. The problem is that the fountain pens feel scratchy on the paper, no matter if it is a fine or medium nib. Some are a little better than others.

1 I tend to write a fair amount each day sometimes in cursive sometimes in block lettering, but almost always with fountain pen.

1 I would like to say that I am currently under the age of 21 (there isn't an option for that). Also to supplement question 12, I would love to review the paper, but I would need to wait for a new Lamy nib because I broke my old one.

1 I am fairly new to the fountain pen world, because as a lefty I assumed I couldn't write with one. I have been writing happily now for about 8 months.

80 13. If I send you 4 sheets each of 4 different European writing papers would you be willing to try them out and review each of them with some of your different pens?
