Students can arrange regular, individual meetings to track progress, address time management, test anxiety, study skills, and general college adjustment. We offer an optional early orientation program for students with disabilities that allows students to move in 2 days early, learn about the accommodation process and their rights and responsibilities, and meet upper class student mentors who also use accommodations. Our students may be on the Autism spectrum, twice exceptional, struggle with severe anxiety, have ADD or Dyslexia, or maybe do not have a diagnosis but clearly struggle even if exceptionally intelligent. We also help our community by providing presentations on topics like executive function and the transition from high school to college or career. Project EXCEL began in 1982 and has supported hundreds of students over the years. We offer an array of services including executive function support professional tutoring and mentoring. They also provide summer orientation assistance, early move-in and more individual support. Their office also offers testing, housing, parking, note-taking and other accommodations based on the disability. Also, Project Mentor is a service of individualized mentoring. There is a fee for this service. We train individuals with disabilities on how to do the jobs at UPS. Our classes are small which gives a lot of individual attention. We are on the quarter system which helps students focus on a class for a shorter time frame. For those students who might require more customized learning strategies and personalized attention we have the Institute for Learning Differences (ILD). Services include executive function skills development, educational assistive technology, and social skills development in additional to intensive academic coaching. The ILD is an additional cost service which is contingent upon enrollment into the program.
