Churches of Moldavia - Church of the Assumption of 19/03/2010 Criterion (i): The external paintings of the churches of the Virgin of the former Monastery of Humor Northern Moldavia cover all the facades. They embody a Churches of Moldavia - Church of the Annunciation of 19/03/2010 unique and homogeneous artistic phenomenon, directly the Monastery of Moldovita inspired by Byzantine art. They present cycles of events taken from the Bible and the Holy Scriptures, in the Orthodox Christian tradition. Criterion (iv): The idea of completely covering the external facades of churches by paintings is an eminent example of a type of church construction and decoration adopted in Moldavia, which illustrates the cultural and religious context of the Balkans from the late 15th century to the late 16th century. Integrity and authenticity The monastic church of Suceviţa has undergone no significant alteration in the course of its history. It preserves with total integrity its original late 15th century architectural structure, and its set of mural paintings, both internal and external. The monastery which surrounds it has conserved its initial appearance, and in particular its historic enclosure. The surrounding countryside, rural and forested, has undergone few transformations and changes up to the present day. The mural paintings are authentic, as they have undergone only minimal interventions. They are in a good state of conservation. The restorations undertaken since the 1970s have been carefully carried out, with great emphasis being placed on respecting authenticity in respect of motifs and pigments, and on conservation conditions. The restorations to the roof have resulted in the church regaining its original appearance, as documented by ancient iconographic sources. Protection and management requirements The protection of the property is satisfactory, both for the serial property as a whole and for Suceviţa, where the property is a place of worship inside a functioning monastery. The protection is completed by the municipality of Suceviţa’s general town plan for this zone, which was recently promulgated (January 2010). The plan should enable active control of building and other works inside the buffer zone and in the landscape environment of the church and monastery. The management plan has been drawn up, including the part pertaining to the extension. Its slightly laxative and diuretic effect, for which the dog rose is used in folk medicine, is supposed to be due to its content rich in pectin and organic acids. The investigated material were the fruits of Rosa canina L collected from 42 biotypes marked on the route: Suceava – Pătrăuţi – Lunca Sucevei (Dărmăneşti) - Costâna - Părhăuţi - Todireşti - Cajvana - Arbore - Solca - Clit - Marginea -Rădăuţi – Suceviţa – Palma during 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 years. The quantitative values of rainfalls influenced the content in vitamin C and the humidity of the fruits. The studied area includes the Plateau of Suceava and Obcina Mare, where the lowest elevation is in the floodplain area of Suceava (292 m) and in Dărmănești station and the highest research point is Palma with an altitude of 1080 m. The field gradient is between 0.1 ° and 13.4 °, the dominant slopes have values of 0.8 ° and 2.6 ° and they are characteristic to the plateau of Suceava. The assessment of geodeclivity was obtained based on grid information using GIS software. The obtained results led to the classification of the studied soils based on fertility; statistical interpretation has been made in terms of influence of soil fertility on the fructification of Rosa canina L. By using statistical PCA and MCA programs we were able to classify soils by chemical constituents. The correlation index determined by Pearson matrix showed a significant correlation level between the chemical characteristics of soil and the productivity of rosehip bushes.

Monuments have a significant universal, national, and local value, contributing tothe Romania touristic development of the area. The most important processes that can affect the integrity of the monuments are the deforestations and the anthropogenic environmental changes. Significant changes took place around Probota, Humor, Patrauti and Arbore churches, while Sucevita, Voronet and Moldovita churches still preserve the natural landscape specific to the Bukovina historical area; Suceava church is part of a strongly urbanised landscape.
