2020 has been full of challenges and uncertainty, but our need for foster carers remains as critical and urgent as ever - and we’re recruiting right now. There are over 550 children in Somerset in need of foster homes, and with roughly 200 in-house foster carers, there’s just not enough foster carers to meet that demand. Fostering In Somerset are currently looking for a diverse range of individuals, couples and families to provide care for some of our county’s most vulnerable children. You’ll need to be aged 21 or over (with no upper age limit) and have a spare room in your home, plus the patience, compassion and time to support a young person who may have experienced trauma. Your gender, ethnicity, marital status or who you love are not important – we recognise that it’s what you can offer a child that matters. In return our foster carers receive a weekly fee and allowance, plus excellent ongoing training and support, along with a dedicated Supervising Social Worker who will work with you to provide additional support and guidance.
