brought Hout to Charlotte, NC. it was while coaching at Northside that coach Hout crossed paths with Rock Royer and the newly formed footbaii program at Lynchburg Baptist College for the first time. Hout's coaching career blossomed during the next ten years as he moved out of the high school ranks and into intercollegiate footbaii. The University of Maryland was the next and longest stop of coach Hout's career. He went to the College Park campus in July of 1974 as a graduate assistant, in 1977 he moved to a full assistant position with responsibility for the wide receivers, an assignment that he would keep for his remaining three years on Jerry Ciaiborne's' staff. During coach Hout's six seasons at the College Park campus the Maryland footbaii program enjoyed their finest years in Terrapin football history. Maryland went to five MORGAN HOUT consecutive bowl games. They were in the HEAD COACH 1974 Liberty Bowl, 1975 , 1976 Morgan Hout is beginning his second year as Cotton Bowl, 1977 Hall of Fame Bowl and In the head coach of Liberty University's 1978 Sun Bowl. Royer is the man credited by Hout with introducing him to college football and opening the door that eventually led him back to Liberty Baptist College in the summer of 1984. Hout's coaching career began in Columbia, S.C., at Harbor High School where he was head coach and athletic director for two years, in addition to these responsibilities, coach Hout also served as the head of the Department of Physical Education during his time in Columbia.
