Buddha-Bar Restaurant London Boasts a Great Value, Innovative Wine List Buddha-Bar Restaurant London boasts a great value, innovative wine list. Rich in choice the cellar contains labels from classic European as well as New World vineyards. Champagne An elegant selection of champagnes of varying vintages opens the wine list and features the best grand marques as well as some intriguing gems from the most exciting small growers of the region. White Wines A comprehensive selection of diverse aromatic whites marries beautifully with Buddha-Bar London’s Pan-Asian dishes. The white wines on the list range from the fresh, crisp mineral to those with a zingy acidity and citrus fruit characteristics, all of which have been chosen to balance confidently and harmoniously with the delicious spices that the kitchen skilfully applies. Red Wines The red wines featured are all pure expressions of the different regions in France, Italy and Spain. The selection of lightly oaked, round and fruit driven New World wines have been created by some of the world’s best winemakers. The wine list brings together the ultimate to pairings to the exciting dishes on the menu. Its liquid contents are a key part of the jigsaw that makes up the buzzy and fashionable atmosphere of Buddha-Bar Restaurant London. Wine Australia worked with esteemed sommeliers Amanda Yallop (Quay), Banjo Harris Plane (Attica) and Sebastian Crowther (Rockpool) to develop a wine list that will complement the menu full of fresh, local produce and prepared by their three-hat restaurant’s chefs, Peter Gilmore, Ben Shewry and Neil Perry AM respectively. THE LAY OF THE LAND Founded in 1981, Grosset has a long and decorated history. In more recent years, the estate has won Winery of the Year in Australia, and it holds a place in the world’s top 100 wineries. Not bad for a relatively small producer in Clare Valley, which speaks volumes about the winery, as well as the tremendous region. The Owner and Winemaker, Jeffrey Grosset, has also earned numerous awards and accolades, including a place among the world’s top 10 winemakers for white wines and a distinguished place among the 50 most influential winemakers on the planet. He has also been a pioneer in the industry. Among other things, he’s known for having been one of the earliest proponents of screw cap closures.

    GROSSETGROSSET SPRING RELEASES 2012 2012: A Truly Exceptional Year The 2012 vintage has turned out to be one of the best experienced at Grosset. Weather conditions were ideal. Hand tending of our organically managed vineyards once again included fruit thinning early in the season. This ensured that the crops of riesling and semillon were at the ideal levels. Warm sunny conditions and the absence of rain late in the season meant the vintage was very compacted and quite early. Eighty percent of the harvest occurred within a nine day period. Vintage was therefore the most intense ever, yet nothing was compromised. Alea The most recent addition to the Grosset portfolio, the Off-dry Riesling will now be known as Alea (pronounced Ah-lee-uh), the name of the vineyard from which it is sourced. In 2000, we conducted a detailed geological survey of the Grosset property at Watervale's highest point. On the eastern side, it highlighted a narrow (300 metre by 22 metre / 15 rows wide) corridor of hard red rock (a bit like slate) with a poor orangey red loam for topsoil which I believed would be suitable for riesling. This became the 'Alea' vineyard, after the Greek goddess of wisdom, courage and agriculture, Athena Alea (Athena the Exalted). Six years later, I noticed that the flavour in the first grapes produced reminded me of some of the great European rieslings which were not completely dry. Inspired by this and unfazed by the low Grosset Alea Vineyard acceptance of this style in Australia at the time, I decided to make the wine that I thought best suited the vineyard.
