The Worcester Music Festival was a huge success and had the whole city buzzing with excitement. Early indications are that the chosen charity, Worcester Foodbank, will be very pleased with the donations collected. The grand total will be announced at the WMF Photography Competition awards and presentation, to be held at Annie’s on the 20th October. In this issue we take a look back over the weekend at just some of the spectacular performances. Oct 2019 We also look back over Frogfest with a photographic review by Geoffrey Head. It looked like an amazing event held at the Frog and Fiddle in Cheltenham. It’s so good to see in these times of division so many people coming together to celebrate such a SLAP MAGAZINE diverse music scene and long may it continue. Some potentially bad news has reached us regarding the Upton Unit 3a, Lowesmoor Wharf, Jazz festival which, despite it’s long running success, is under Worcester WR1 2RS threat due to rising costs. 1974 Record Releases
1974 UK Record Releases by Date This is a list of all UK 45 singles and EP’s found on the 45 cat website and any new release sheets as of the 25/10/16. Generally records that don't have a full release are not included. Some spoken word only records are not listed, plus “story” ones. Records that would have had a specific week when they were first released, but which dates have not been found, but are known to have been issued on an actual month are included at the end of each weekly listing for the month in question. Numbers in red indicate ownership on 45 cat for those with 5 or more. In some cases, such as chart hits, the number of “wants” is added on. Caution should be noted with ownership figure, as the record might have only been available as a promo record that wasn’t issued to the public. These however will be popular with collectors of records. If it is known to be never issued to the public, what is called on the 45 Cat site as a “stock” record. Then that will not be included. In some cases records by well known acts were never issued as “stock” and some of these have been included, but such records are shown as “promo only”. They are included to show that the record couldn’t have made the charts in 1974. At least as a UK issue! Records that made the charts of the time are only stated where no specific week has been found or if a chart record fails to score 5 ownership indications - indicated by the term hit. -

All rights reserved Published 18 April 2006 by Soyinfo Center ISBN 1-028914-09-8 Brief Chronology of Erewhon The initial orders contained red miso (made by Sendai Miso Shoyu Co.) and natural shoyu (made by Marushima). 1966 April 9–Erewhon opens as a small (10- by 20- 1968 Nov.–On Thanksgiving day, Erewhon moves up foot) macrobiotic and natural foods retail store at 303-B and across the street to a much bigger and nicer location at Newbury Street (below street level) in Boston. Aveline and 342 Newbury St. The company now has 6 employees: Paul Michio Kushi are the founders, but Aveline is the sole Hawken, Roger Hillyard, Bruce Macdonald, Bill Tara, Jim owner. Evan Root is the first retail store manager. The Docker, and Jean Allison. Waddington 3 Clouds “The great Canadian novel.” Well, who am I to argue with curious critics, arrogant academics and innocent bystanders? I’m just the poor sap who wrote the damn thing. Like every great Canadian whipper-snapper of a cultural milestone—henceforth known as the kilometre marker—this short- winded little thing staggered its first steps in Ye Olde England. There I was, as Canadian as a Yorkshire pudding, with neither a single nor a solitary Canadian thought in my assassin’s line of sight. Of course, I’d never shoot to kill. The Canadian kneecap, a direct hit, make the bugger limp, that’s all. It was autumn and I cut through a neighbourhood park, where a few remaining roses yet bloomed, buttercups tested children’s fondness of butter, and dock-leaves cured the sting of a few remaining nettles. And then the front door: stained glass and lead twistings. Inside the hall: a tottering table piled with brown envelopes whose plastic windows warned “Last Demand,” or pleaded “Urgent,” all addressed to nomads who had moved on to another house with another table. I clambered the stairs, as sure-footed as a mountaineer on a shopping centre escalator, upwards and onwards to the attic, where Atticism ruled like a short sentence on a long page. K. MIRANDA has been approved for the Department of English and the College of Arts and Sciences by Patrick O'Keeffe Assistant Professor of English Robert Frank Dean, College of Arts and Sciences 3 ABSTRACT MIRANDA, JAMES M., Ph.D., May 2015, English Step Right Up Director of Dissertation: Patrick O'Keeffe The dissertation is divided into two sections: an essay titled “The Genuine Fake: A Look at the Long Con of American Fiction” and a book manuscript titled, Step Right Up. “The Genuine Fake: A Look at the Long Con of American Fiction” presents a historiographical survey of the phenomenon of the “confidence man” in American culture and fiction. The essay positions the confidence man as a central figure in an ongoing national identity discourse. It looks to American fiction, beginning in the antebellum period and continuing up through the modern and postmodern age, as a means of deciphering certain cultural shifts in attitude with regard to authenticity and imitation. Step Right Up is composed of short stories that attempt to participate in, subvert, and distort certain elements of this discourse. The stories regularly dissect the prevailing mythos of the “self-made man” in America. Through their experimentation with voice, form, point-of-view, and language, they are fraught with cultural and individual notions of what constitutes the genuine and the artificial in the contemporary American landscape.
