DINE STAY Amy heads up a platoon of volunteers that collects, or “gleans”, ion CRAFT AMERICAN CUISINE & COCKTAILS leftover and excess produce from local Veggie Rescue farms and orchards. Since its inception in 2010, and Amy Derryberry with just one refrigerated truck, this small but mighty non-profit organization has gleaned more than 400,000 pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables which it has donated to local schools, senior centers and other organizations that help those in need. Despite all the success, Veggie Rescue needs more refrigerated vans, participating farms and volunteers to expand its outreach throughout Santa Barbara County. That’s why Amy is stepping up the group’s fundraising efforts with a special Farm-To-Table Dinner on August 3 hosted by Solvang’s acclaimed Bacon & Brine Restaurant.
