What is NYLT? Na onal Youth Leadership Training is an exci ng, NYLT ac on‐packed program designed for councils to pro‐ vide youth members with leadership skills and experi‐ Na onal Youth Leadership Training Date ence they can use in their home troops and in other July 1 –7, 2018 situa ons demanding leadership of self and others.
The NYLT course centers around the concepts of what a leader must BE, what he must KNOW, and Loca on: what he must DO. The key elements are then taught Beau ful Camp Yocona, Randolph, MS with a clear focus on HOW TO. The skills come alive during the week as the patrol goes on a Quest for the Meaning of Leadership. NYLT is a six‐day course. Content is delivered in a troop and patrol outdoor se ng with an emphasis on immediate applica on of learning in a fun environ‐ ment. Interconnec ng concepts and work processes are introduced early, built upon, and aided by the use 2018 Camp Yocona of memory aids, which allows par cipants to under‐ stand and employ the leadership skills much faster. Through ac vi es, presenta ons, challenges, discus‐ sions, and audio‐visual support, NYLT par cipants will be engaged in a unified approach to leadership that
will give them the skill and confidence to lead well. Through a wide range of ac vi es, games, and adven‐ tures, par cipants will work and play together as they put into ac on the best Scou ng has to offer.
