It can console (The Psalm is sung between the first 2 Scripture readings.) and uplift mourners even as it expresses our faith and love. The music used in the Funeral Mass is to be religious in nature The Lord Is Kind & Merciful (Psalm 103) and in accord with our faith in eternal life, which the Mass cele- brates.
