Commecs Affairs Payam-E-Cibe 2018 COMMECS AFFAIRS PAYAM-E-CIBE 2018 Commecs Affairs Independence Day On 14 August 2017, Commecs College celebrated the 70 Independence Day with enthusiasm and patriotism. The program began with the name of Allah and was later carried on by astounding and breathtaking performances by the students of our college which left the audience in awe and renewed the fire of patriotism in their hearts. The English and Urdu speeches were delivered which made the audience hum with delight and stirred a feeling of passion and patriotism within them. The Chief Guest invited on this memorable day was Mr. Javed Jabbar, former Federal Minister and Senator while the Guests of Honor were Mr. Muhammad Sami, a renowned fashion photographer and Mr. Arshad Islam-Member Managing Committee. The day continued by yet another thrilling activity which was the photography contest, organized by the Department of Pakistan Studies, with the theme 'The View from Here'. The first year students as sell as the second year students participated and showed great passion towards their work and showed worth seeing talent. Owais Wahab of Basrai Room took the third prize home, while Imsa Zulfiqar of Toyota Room was the runner up for the contest. The first prize was awarded to Maria Sherwani of Toyota Room. The day came to an end with photography session of all the participants and the prize distribution ceremony while the shields were presented to the guests by our honorable Principal. Komal Ahmed | UDL I Room Defense Day Commecs College celebrated Defense Day on Wednesday, 6 September 2017. The program was organized by the Department of Urdu and was conducted in the morning assembly. It began with the beautiful recitation of the Holy Quran and then further carried on by our faculty and the students. The speeches uttered by Ms. Sabahat and Ms. Naila were full of passion and love for our country, Pakistan. They highlighted 1965 Indo-Pak war and the destruction it brought, the soldiers who fought fearlessly, about the families which were never the same after that day, and the people who showed their true devotion and love towards their country and showed a perfect example of patriotism and loyalty and eventually saved our country from utter devastation. The event was carried on by a beautiful national song, sung by Ali Zeb of UDL-II and Muhib Marfani of MCB Room which affected the audience even more and renewed spirit of nationalism in them. The program came to an end with the whole college singing our nation anthem with unity and fervor. Komal Ahmed | UDL-I Room 24 Foundation Day Twenty four years ago on September 15, our very own college, came into existence that pledged to work for students in the finest way possible. This magnificent date represents the Foundation Day of Commecs College and it must be remembered and celebrated in the most spectacular way as it was manifested on Friday the 15 of September, 2017. The day was celebrated in the most glorious way possible and it would be rejoiced by the students in the years to come. Tabia of Gatron Room and Muhammad Fahad of Crescent Room were the hosts for the day. The Chief Guest was Mr. Shamim Ahmed Firpo, President of KCCI, Karachi Chamber of 122 PAYAM-E-CIBE 2018 Commerce and Industries. The Guests of Honor included Mr. Asif Arif and Dr. Farah Iqbal, members of the Managing Committee, Commecs College. All the students felt deeply honored to be present amidst such dynamic and admirable personalities. Our esteemed Principal, Cdr. (Retd.) Abdul Razaq, welcomed the guests with an address which entranced us greatly and made us realize the importance of the day and evoked our pride for the college . This was followed by a few patriotic songs sung and led by Ali Zeb which left us amazed and with beaming patriotism. Another patriotic song which was sung by the students of UDL and Masood Naqvi seized the attention of the onlookers immediately and delighted them greatly. Some students sang Commecs College Song which intensified the Cibean spirit. A tableau which was led by Rafay Ahmed of Jamil Room left us completely spellbound as it exhibited utter contentment. In the end, the most respected Mr. Omar H. Karim, one of the founding members expressed his views on the event. His speech was very touching. He not only praised the participants but also praised the discipline of our college. His views encouraged us to work honestly, earnestly and selflessly with perseverance and dedication. In conclusion, the Foundation Day held at Commecs College was an array of glamour and enchantment that enthralled each and everyone acting as a torrent of pleasure that will be exalted in perpetuity nostalgically. Moiz Mustafa | Bukhari Room Quiz Competition Etymologically, quiz means 'to interrogate'. Undoubtedly quiz competitions play a vital role in developing and improving mental capabilities of individuals. Quizzes evoke the philosophers inside each of us and this is the reason why quizzes have always been an integral part of the education system. And this is why Commecs College hosted an Interclass Quiz Competition on 28 of September, 2017. Hiza Saeed and Moaz Ahmed of the section Sapphire hosted this fascinating program. The Chief Guest was Mr. Zia-ur-Rehman Zia, a renowned scholar and a research quiz expert. Other than that he is a famous writer as well. The Guest of Honor was Mr. Ayaz Raza Trimizi. The first part of the competition was among the first year classes. The competition displayed an extraordinary level of enthusiasm. After a tough competition, OHK was declared as the winner of the first prize. However there was a tie between Bukhari and UDL which gave rise to an additional round between the two, the tie breaker round, which was the final showdown. After this round, Bukhari was declared as the winner of the second prize and UDL, the recipient of the third prize. The second part of the competition was among the second year students. After an enthralling performance, MCB was declared as the winner of the first prize whereas Altaf Agha was declared second and Toyota the third. The winners were presented with trophies. In this way, this spectacular day came to its end. Ifrah Ilyas | OHK Room Interclass Bilingual Declamation Often as we see the rising morale in today's youth, it would be a mistake to overlook its paradigms about societal norms and general behavior. Commecs, once again put forth this wonderful opportunity to bring general yet variety of views in areas of humor, religion, social festivities, and current affairs, by holding an Interclass Bilingual Declamation Contest. The contest held on October 10, 2017, was indeed one of its kinds. As it happens, the occasion was entitled 'Interclass Bilingual Declamation Contest' with all its honor and sheer elegance, it warmly welcomed the highly respectable Chief Guest, Commander (R ) Najeeb Anjum (Former Principal of Sir Adamjee Institute). In accordance with the invitee, the college sincerely greeted Ms. Nadia Maria 123 PAYAM-E-CIBE 2018 (Prof. Economics) at Shehzan University, as the Guest of Honor. The very event would have certainly been rendered incomplete if it were not for the revered judges to have joined the auspicious occasion. They were divided into two categories: 1. Panel of Urdu Judges comprising Mr. Mazhar Ahmed Khan, Mr. Shah Nehal and Mr. Mohsin Langove. 2. Panel of English Judges comprising Ms. Salma Talib, Mr. Ali Khan Mangi and Mrs. Shamama Shujaat. In all splendor and magnificence, the event commenced with the name of Almighty Allah followed by a contest enriched with zeal, order, exuberance, keen vigor and a reverberant display of eloquence and audacity. No doubt, the event was itself the parable of triumph. However, it was not at all unexpected to find that the speeches revealing enigmatic and firm emotions of the students were in actuality of sketching a fine line between the idea of evil and good. To say that this contest convinced many to see the world from different aspects would verily be an understatement. It would also not be wrong to admit that it was quite dilemmatic for the judges to decide the best among the lot. What with such eloquent speakers, of which every single one of them touched the pinnacle of perfection! Nonetheless, the choices of the English speakers were given their respective awards. The prestigious English winners were Omar Noman of Altaf Agha Room as first, Uroosa Faisal of Gatron Room as second and Eesha Pervaiz of Basrai Room as the third. Rida Abbas of Sapphire Room got the special prize. Among Urdu speakers, Abdul Basit of Basrai Room got the first position, Wania Ali of Altaf Agha the second and Arsalna Nizami of Masood Naqvi Room got the third position. The special prize was won by Sumayyia Wahid of Aziz Tabba Room. The radiant stars are, no doubt, considered the very pride of Commecs College for having proven that human intellect is evolutionary if put to good purposes but equally lethal if misused. Atraba Shoaib | Masood Naqvi Room CIBES Convocation Second convocation of CIBES passed out batch was held on Saturday, Oct 28, 2017. The Chief Guest was Prof. Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodhi - Vice Chancellor NED University, Karachi. • IBA AR 2013-14 Final Lowres
Annual Report 2013-2014 TRANSLATING VISION INTO REALITYREALITY Message from the Dean and Director Vision The year 2013-14 is the penultimate reporting year of the Strategic Plan 2009-14. It is a matter of great satisfaction “To become a world-class business school for leadership that most of the targets that were committed at the time of the Strategy formulation have been achieved. Progress in and innovation in management.” Physical Infrastructure projects, Technology Up-gradation, Quality Enhancement, New Program Development, Community Outreach, Governance and Management has been quite substantial. Although the number of full time faculty has risen to 98 and the number of PhD holders has increased to 45, we are still facing shortages in core subjects of Management, Marketing Finance and Accounting. Some innovative initiatives such as split doctorate degree programs with South Hampton in UK and Grenoble in France have proved helpful in filling this gap. It would take a few more years before the benefits of these initiatives are derived. Research culture has been promoted in what was purely a teaching institution but we have a long way to go before we attain our desired goals. The physical capacity expansion, renovation, and remodeling, have allowed to accommodate almost 3000 students – a jump of almost 667 from the base year 2008-09. This increase in student strength has also helped in contributing towards the financial sustainability of the Institute. Almost two-thirds of the operational expenses are now met from the internally generated income reducing the dependence on external sources. The publication of the Annual Report regularly is a modest attempt by IBA to hold itself accountable to the stakeholders and the public at large.

  • IBA Karachi AR 2015-16 Final
BUILDING ON ANNUAL REPORT SUCCESS 2015-16 BUILDING ON SUCCESS Message from the Dean and Director I would like to take the opportunity of the publication of this Annual Report to talk about three transformations at IBA. The first is physical transformation. We now have buildings and technology that did not exist a few years ago. They provide a range of educational, recreational and service facilities that has vastly improved the learning and living experience of the students and faculty who pass through our gates. While we will continue to make improvements, the bulk of the infrastructure development campaign has been completed. IBA owes a significant debt to Dr. Ishrat Husain, my immediate predecessor, for having conceived and executed this campaign. The second is intellectual transformation. This is less obvious than the physical one but just as pervasive. It is reflected in a surge in faculty hiring and the initiation of new courses. Our faculty is at the forefront of a sustained drive to deliver quality education to our students. Towards this end, we have set the bar for the induction of new faculty higher and higher every year. Today we have 62 faculty with Ph.D. degrees. This is up from 20 Ph.D. holding faculty members in 2009. And we have more in the pipeline. Currently more than 24 faculty members are at different stages in their doctoral studies. Good faculty add value to our students, value that is recognised when they enter the job market and when they take up positions of leadership in the corporate world and beyond.
