State-level Independence Day Function Country Should be Run According to Our Constitutional Values: CM Jaipur, August 15. Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot has said, 'We got Independence from the colonial rule after sacrifices, struggle and martyrdom of our great freedom fighters under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. Later on, our leaders with visionary thinking laid the foundation of a strong democracy and took the country forward on the path of development. We have to continuously take this country forward with diversities of caste, religion, region, language or dialect according to our constitutional values. The big responsibility of this is on the young generation of this country.” On the occasion of 75th Independence Day, Shri Gehlot was addressing a state- level function at Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday. He hoisted the national flag and inspected the parade. The Chief Minister said that basic facilities such as electricity, water, road, health and education were not available when the country secured freedom. Great leaders such as Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru, Sardar Patel, Dr Ambedkar and Maulana Azad with their farsightedness laid the foundation to make India a self-dependent country. In the long journey of the last 74 years, the country faced many serious challenges, but it kept moving ahead. It was possible due to the strong roots of our constitution. It is the responsibility of all of us to keep this democracy strong, he added. Shri Gehlot said that at the time of independence only 13 megawatts of power was being generated in Rajasthan. Today, 23,000 MW power is being generated. In the last 70 years, the scenario has changed in the state. Today, reputed educational institutions such as IIT, IIM, AIIMS, NLU, MNIT and NIFT have been established in Rajasthan. Network of rails and roads were laid, he added. The CM stated that today youth of Rajasthan need not go to other states for higher education. In the last two-and-a-half years, 123 government colleges were opened in the state, of which 32 were women’s college. 'We have also taken a decision that those Senior Secondary schools in which the number of girl students is more than 500 in class XI and XII then these schools will be upgraded to College,' he said. The Chief Minister said, 'Our Government has taken many decisions and has given sensitive, transparent and accountable governance. The state government adopted Jan Ghoshna Patra, the party manifesto, as a policy document and made it a part of the action plan. Till now, 64% of promises made in the manifesto have been fulfilled. He said that after Chief Minister Free Medicines and Diagnostic Tests Scheme and Nirogi Rajasthan campaign, the government has now implemented Chiranjeevi Swasthya Bima Yojana to make people of the State free from the tension of treatment expenses. Shri Gehlot added that a separate budget was announced for the agriculture sector. The government has fulfilled the promise of waiving farm loans. Farmers of 15 districts have started getting electricity in the daytime. By next year, farmers in all the districts will get electricity during the day. Shri Gehlot said that during corona pandemic our government took all sections of society into confidence and did very efficient management. Relief was given to every section with support of religious leaders, social activists, public representatives and voluntary organizations etc. During the first and second wave of COVID-19, economic assistance of Rs. 5,500 was provided to around 33 lakh needy and helpless people. He said that in many countries, after the third wave, the fourth and fifth waves of corona infection had also occurred. We need to be alert about the third wave in the State. Now, the State Government had made all the preparations to deal with the third wave, he stated. The Chief Minister said that increasing the scope of social security was the need of the hour. Many countries in the world have taken social security initiatives on a large scale. "In Rajasthan, our government increased the scope of social security and made it accessible to a large number of eligible people through various pension schemes. Amounts of the pension have also been increased. The policy of uninterrupted registration has been implemented in the police stations for the people of the State to get speedy justice and for easy lodging of FIRs. This resulted in the less number of court orders for registration of cases. We are working with a zero tolerance policy on corruption," he added. Shri Gehlot further said, “We took initiative for providing more employment opportunities to the youth in the government sector as well as other sectors.” Till date, about 1 lakh government jobs had been given during the last-two-and-a-half years. The state government has given out-of-turn appointments to about 300 sportspersons, who won medals. "This is a big initiative in the direction to promoting sports and sportspersons," he said. The Chief Minister said that on this auspicious occasion of Independence Day, all the public representatives, officers-employees and general public should take pledge honour the spirit of our constitution and perform the duties stipulated in this holy book. During the state level function folk culture of Rajasthan was displayed by folk artists through songs and dances. Assembly speaker Dr CP Joshi, Minister of State for Education Shri Govind Singh Dotasara, several MLAs, other public representatives, officers, employees and dignitaries attended the Independence Day programme. ----- .
