We submitted a copy of our letter to Finance Minister and explained the issue in detail. He was appreciative of the reasonableness of our demand and assured to write to the GST Council to discuss the issue. He also assured to pursue the matter in the GST Council meeting. He suggested that we should meet other members of the GST Council in this regard so that the issue gets some momentum.

Union Cabinet approves Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor Project: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given its approval to the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor Project from Palwal to Sonipat via Sohna-Manesar-Kharkhauda. The project will be implemented by Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (HRIDC) and the estimated completion cost of the project is Rs. 5,617 crore. About Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor Project: The Rail Line will start from Palwal and end at existing Harsana Kalan station (On Delhi-Ambala section). This project will offer connectivity enroute to existing Patli Station (On Delhi-Rewari line), Sultanpur station (On Garhi Harsaru- Farukhnagar Line) and Asaudha Station (On Delhi Rohtak Line). The project will connect unserved areas of the state of Haryana, and hence, will boost the economic and social activities in Haryana State. Note: Chief Minister of Haryana: Manohar Lal Khattar; Governor: Satyadeo Narain Arya. 2. Maharashtra Govt launches ‘My Family, My Responsibility’ campaign: The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray has launched a state-wide campaign titled, ‘My Family, My Responsibility’, to curb the spread of coronavirus pandemic. The campaign will be conducted in two phases. The first phase of the campaign will end on October 10 and the second phase will take place between October 12 to 24. Under the campaign: (1) The door-to-door survey will be conducted by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), to check the citizens for fever, low oxygen levels and other Covid-19 symptoms.

A little more than a year ago we had gathered to discuss the Draft Approach Paper to the Tenth Five Year Plan. Now, when the first year of this Plan is nearing its end, we are meeting to approve the Draft Tenth Five Year Plan. However, discussion at this stage would, I presume, serve the purpose of focusing attention not only on the objectives and strategy set out for the Plan but, in the light of the role that has been envisaged for the States, also focus on the ability, or otherwise, of the States to contribute to the success of the same. 3. Every Five Year Plan provides an opportunity of stock taking as well as reorienting the priorities of the Government, Central and State, in the light of the changing environment. It is pertinent, therefore, to discuss briefly what we had sought to achieve in the Ninth Five Year Plan and how far we in Rajasthan have succeeded in achieving the same. 4. The main objectives of the Ninth Five Year Plan was 'growth with equity' and included objectives like generating adequate productive employment, eradicating poverty, ensuring nutrition security to the vulnerable sections, basic minimum services of drinking water, healthcare, containing population growth primary education and shelter, empowering the disadvantaged groups like SCs/STs and OBCs, promoting and developing people's participatory institutions, and, strengthening efforts to build self-reliance.

Some of these operations have been performed by Dr. Trehan for the first time in India.     Palanivel Thiagarajan releases his ‘progress card’ MLA P.T.R. Palanivel Thiagarajan. He completes one year as the MLA of Madurai central constituency Completing one year as the elected member to the Legislative Assembly from Madurai central constituency, P.T.R. Palanivel Thiagarajan of the DMK has released his ‘progress card’ to the electorate. Giving a four-page copy published in Tamil to the public, the MLA recalled that during electioneering in 2016, he had promised to submit a ‘progress card’ on the works done for the people from his constituency every six months. Irrespective of whether the party was elected to govern or sit in the Opposition, he had proposed to submit an assessment so that the electorate may appraise his performance. After installing grievance boxes in 28 locations covering 22 wards in his constituency, he opened them periodically and ascertained the needs. The MLA swiftly analysed the causes, which included delay in getting old age pension, ration card, government assistance, drinking water shortage, unhygienic public toilets and others. As and when the letters were processed, the MLA had taken up with the authorities concerned and ensured that they were redressed. For the benefit of senior citizens and differently-abled persons, the MLA provided an exclusive mobile phone number 73055-19999. In all, during the last 365 days, the MLA’s office had redressed 580 petitions at different government offices. Organising a career guidance counselling for the students in Corporation and government-run schools, Dr. Thiagarajan pointed out that such counselling should begin as early as from eighth/ninth standard as the children may have a vision to achieve goals.
