By Bobby La Gesse, Sports Editor [email protected]

STILLWATER, Okla. — One kickoff. That’s all it took for everything to flip for the Cyclones. Iowa State and Oklahoma State were tied at six when Cowboy kicker Ben Grogan booted a high, short kick that the Cyclones failed to grab. Oklahoma State safety Elliott Jeffcoat recovered it on the ISU 11-yard line. And from there the Cowboys ran away with it, winning 37-20 on Saturday. The game wasn’t without controversy. Five plays after the kickoff recovery Oklahoma State’s Desmond Roland scored a 2-yard run. Roland was originally ruled short of the goal line as the half ended, but the play was overturned on review. After ISU took a 6-0 lead, the Cowboys scored 37 of the next 44 points. Oklahoma State came alive in the second half. Running back Tyreek Hill returned the opening kickoff of the second half 97 yards for a touchdown. The Cowboys proceeded to score 17 points on their next three series. The defense kept the Cyclones in the game early as Sam Richardson and Nigel Tribune each had an . ISU surrendered 400 total yards, including 218 in the second half. Cole Netten hit a pair of 34-yard field goals and tight end E.J. Bibbs hauled in two touchdown recep- tions, including a fantastic one-handed 17-yarder. The ISU offense settled for first-half field goals when it got into the red zone and was out of sync most of the game, gaining 322 total yards. Sam Richardson was 17-of-39 for 200 total yards and Oklahoma State’s Jerel Morrow, left, pressures Iowa State quarterback Sam Richardson Saturday in two . The Cyclones rushed for 122 yards.
