Pleasant, South Carolina. In 2009, Mt. Pleasant Town Council, by official proclamation, declared the band the Town of Mt. Pleasant’s “Musical Ambassadors,” an honor they hold proudly. Musical styles include Carolina Beach Music, Soul Music, Fifties music, jazz standards, an array of ballads, TOP 40 and classic Rock and Roll. Their specialty is involving the crowd in the show with their special brand of entertainment! After completing this event registration form OR completing online, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions to make your accommodations with The Sanctuary. A group rate of $439 per night plus tax has been negotiated (three days prior and three days post meeting based on availability). Rates do not include state and local taxes, currently 13%. RESERVATION REQUESTS MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE SANCTUARY BY MAY 1, 2019. Should the room block become full before May 1 or should the reservation request be made after May 1, reservations will be accepted on a first come first serve basis, based on availability at the transient rates. It is not uncommon for a group room block to become full prior to the deadline date; we encourage you to make your reservations as early as possible. The hotel will make every effort to honor specific preferences such as location, connecting rooms and bedding preferences. All reservations must be guaranteed with a major credit card supplied at the time of reservation, by first night room and tax deposit based upon your preferred accommodations. Any guaranteed reservation NOT canceled by 12 p.m. seven (7) days prior to arrival will be subject to one night’s room and tax cancellation fee. Any reservations that fail to arrive on the scheduled arrival date will be considered no-shows and a charge of one night’s room and tax will be posted to the guest’s credit card on file. Check-in time is after 4:00 p.m. and check-out time is noon. CONVENTION REGISTRATION SCBA’s 119th Annual Convention boasts two full days of educational opportunities for bankers, directors and associate members. Included on the convention registration/hotel reservation form, is the registration for the reunion reception of The Graduate Schools of Banking, the golf tournament, tennis round robin, the prayer breakfast and the special event. The registration fee of $545 per banker/associate member and $425 per spouse/guest, and $165 per child 14 years and over, includes admission to all events except for the aforementioned golf tournament, tennis round robin, prayer breakfast and the southern brunch with a side of art. For your convenience, you may register online for the convention. Deadline for all registration material is May 1, 2019. CONVENTION ATTIRE Attire for the entire convention will be resort wear. A sport coat or jacket is requested for the gentlemen for the Tuesday evening dinner dance, no ties required! REFUNDS There will be no refund of SCBA Convention registration fees after 12 p.m. on Friday, May 31. LACKER Dr. Jeffrey Lacker received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin in 1984. His current research relates to the history of financial crises and central bank policy. Prior to joining the faculty in 2018, he worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond for 28 years, including over 12 years as President and CEO. In that role, he participated in meetings of the Federal Open Market Committee, the monetary policy arm of the Federal Reserve. Past research has focused on monetary economics, banking and financial intermediation, and payment economics, and has been published in a variety of peer-reviewed journals, including Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, The Cato Journal, Review of Economic Dynamics, Economic Theory, Journal of Financial Intermediation, and the Carnegie-Rochester Conference Series on Public Policy. ROB NICHOLS Rob Nichols is the president and CEO of the American Bankers Association, which represents banks of all sizes and charters and is the voice for the nation’s $17 trillion banking industry. Nichols joined ABA in August 2015 following ten years at the helm of the Financial Services Forum, a non-partisan financial and economic policy organization. Before joining the Forum, Nichols served in the George W. Bush administration as the Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the Treasury Department, a position requiring confirmation by the United States Senate. In this role, he acted as chief spokesperson and head of the Office of Public Liaison, serving as Treasury’s lead representative with the media, business, professional trade organizations, consumer groups and the public. Nichols’ earlier career highlights include working as communications director to U.S. Senator Slade Gorton and Press Secretary to the late Congresswoman Jennifer Dunn, a former member of the House leadership, and in the West Wing as an aide in the Office of the Chief of Staff in the George H.W. Bush administration. Nichols is a recipient of the Alexander Hamilton Award, the highest honor of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. He also is consistently ranked as one of Washington’s Top Lobbyists by The Hill and was described as one of the “new generation of trade group CEOs” by The Washington Post. Nichols is a graduate of the George Washington University. He is a member of the board of directors of the International Banking Federation (IBFed), a forum that addresses issues affecting banking around the world. Nichols is also a member of the board of directors of Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE), which works on behalf of the 15 million Americans with food allergies, including all those at risk for life-threatening anaphylaxis.
