THREE YEAR REPORT - 3 The first tranche of UNICEF’s emergency relief items contained 86 tonnes of health and nutritional supplies for children and pregnant women. 4 - SICHUAN EARTHQUAKE OVERVIEW Three years ago, on 12 May 2008, the most devastating natural disaster in China in decades struck the country’s southwestern Sichuan Province. The 8.0-magnitude earthquake affected the lives of millions of people, killing 88,000, injuring 400,000 and leaving 5 million homeless. Immediately after the earthquake, the Government of China led a remarkable disaster response and relief programme. Today, life in the Rebirth, reconstruction affected communities has resumed. Abstract. The construction of urban roads could increased movement of goods and facility for people’s trip, and promotes regional economic development. However, the construction of urban roads has two sides on city development. This paper after fact finding at Xiaochuan Rd in Cheng County by the form of the literature search and the questionnaire. Through investigate the influence of residents' quality of life during the road construction and the evaluation of construction achievements after the completion of the construction to reflect the advantages and disadvantages of the existing problems of road construction, residents’ opinion on the new roads. Abstract The nodulation and nitrogen fixation of major cultivated and wild legumes dispersed over 36 genera, 98 species have been studied in some region of Gansu province and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. 360 strains of root nodules bacterial have been isolated from about 400 samples, among them of 44 strains were from 30 species that have not been reported yet in Allen`s “The Leguminoaes” and other literatures. The most of which were tested infecting in 22 model species that belong to 20 genera as host, 81.2% strains of tested rhizobia can nodule with host plants. Above 85% of those nodule samples were effective for nitrogen fixation. The result showed that the activities of nitrogen fixation in nodules of various species varied greatly and all of them were low. 46.6% of them are under 1 µmolC2H4/gFWh and more than 10 µmolC2H4/gFWh is only 6.8%.The nitrogenase activity was closely related to the growth period of plants. 2. Introduction The area of Gansu province and Ningxia autonomous region in the northwest China is approximately 450,000 Km2, there are small Mt. Longshan and west Qinling with semi-humid, semi-arid and deciduous broad-leaved forest warm temperate zone and wood-grass climate, Bailong River drainage area with semi-tropical continent humid climate, and Allah friendly plateau with middle Asia continent arid hungriness climate. -

As auspicious patterns play an important role in the modern logo design, it is important to fully explore the beneficial elements in the Chinese traditional auspicious patterns and creatively combine the cultural essence of our nation with this nation the modern logo design language to pioneer a new way of logo design. 1. Introduction Chinese traditional auspicious patterns are rich in connotation, and have long history and strong national characteristics. As a typical representative of Chinese traditional culture, it combines the art of painting and the art of language, and is Chinese the most traditional visual art resource. SICHUAN EARTHQUAKE ONE YEAR REPORT May 2009 unite for children SICHUAN EARTHQUAKE ONE YEAR REPORT May 2009 1 SICHUAN EARTHQUAKE ONE YEAR REPORT May 2009 FOREWORD Minutes after picking up seismological reports of a major tremor in the vicinity of Chengdu, UNICEF China and the global UNICEF Operations Centre in New York began to gather information on the situation of children. Those activities laid the foundation for what has since become a full-fledged emergency response to the 12 May 2008 Sichuan earthquake. The huge scale of the devastation along a swath of territory running from central Sichuan to southern Gansu quickly prompted a major government mobilization. The Government of China worked around the clock to organize and undertake a massive rescue and relief operation to save lives and address the needs of earthquake survivors. The government’s TABLE OF CONTENTS response was impressive in its speed, scope of mobilization, and resource inputs. The scale of damage riveted attention as media reports and citizen 1 Foreword blogs carried the story to a stunned world. It quickly became clear that the public response to this disaster would be on a scale quite different 3 Introduction from previous major disasters in China. Immediately, a national wave of concern and support materialized, and it was not unusual to see cars and 5 Maps buses filled with food, water and volunteers making their way to Sichuan to offer whatever help they could. Email: [email protected] ABSTRACT Our study was based on the division of the contiguously poverty-stricken areas of Qinba Mountain in China. To find the sustainable path of regional development, we used INVEST model to calculate the amount of ecosystem services in 27 areas of Longnan, to structure an index evaluation system, and to simulate the distribution space of regional ecosystem vulnerability. Coupling and coordinating model were also used to analyze the results of simulation and the incidence of poverty, and the coupling types and spatial distribution patterns were accurately to reach the following conclusions: The incidence of poverty in each area of Longnan was quite different, and the vulnerability of the poverty-stricken areas shows a spatial differentiation pattern, most of them are in the state of "high exposure" or "double stress". The relationship between vulnerability and poverty degree was obvious, the higher the vulnerability, the higher the risk of poverty. The coupling degree of vulnerability with poverty was spatially decreasing from north to south, and most areas have a high degree of coupling and coordinating, mainly in the south and middle of the study areas.
