th 99BIENNIAL IINTER-HOUSE PORTPORTS OMPETITION 2021 ouisville interSS-house sport! An event famousC for the role it plays in developing skills, realizing and celebrating the talents of not just the students but the entire Louisville community as was evident from Lthe hair-raising side attractions. This year, the series of competition commenced on the 13th of February 2021 with what we call the 'Heats' The Heats comprised mainly long distance qualifying and final races, short distance qualifying races, ball games and field events. It seemed like all the Houses eventually were constantly neck and neck. Although some houses emerged winners, we believed each house was exceptional considering the weeks of preparation we all had. In spite of this, it was heat warming to see houses paring up to support one another and promoting the Louisville spirit of SINT UNUM. The races were nearly as thrilling as the ball games during these events, an impressive level of endurance and commitment in the athletes really shone through. When it came to field events, the JSS1 girls participated and represented their different houses. We are extremely proud to see the junior students taking top positions in events such as Long Jump, Javelin and Shot- put. The points were varied as houses lead one another by just of few points. However the winner was yet to be determined. As the sun rose on the early hours of the 20th of February 2021, the apprehension of many Louisville girls heightened. There could be only one winner. Only one house could carry home the gold. Only one house could run round the track echoing the shout and songs of victory and each house desired to be. Who would be the 2021 winner? Louisville girls adorned in their attractive sports wears that projected the colours of their houses and with that pride, we all settled for the final moments of the inter-house sports. The event kicked off with an opening prayer which was said by the Vice Principal Academics (Mr. Isreal Olukoya) after which we all raised our voices in the spirit of SINT UNUM to sing the National Anthem and followed by the school Anthem. Due to the new norm (Covid-19 Pandemic), parents were not permitted to be physically present, but it was inevitably graced by the parents representatives in persons of Mrs. Ogunbi and Mrs. Okere. The school provided an online platform- Youtube where the event was streamed live for parents, alumnae and other interested parents witness the glorious events. Each house's salute was superb and exquisite to mention but a few. Therese House came first with 86 points, Colmar and Bautain House came second with 82points and Louise House came fourth with 78 points. It is obvious that the competition was highly contested this very year. The points were very close. This write up will not be complete if the name of the athlete of the year is omitted, Asan Doochivir emerged the athlete of the year for winning four gold medals and two silver medals for participating in both races and ball games. The joy and the excitement of Therese house filled the air as they streamed out in their colourful house attire running round the field. The house mother and the members of the winning house were really excited for the victory. The two houses that came second Colmar and Bautain as well contracted the spirit as they could not help it but to stream out to celebrate their long awaited victory.
