Any parcel weighing 1kg or more, that is one large book or a number of books, will be usually be charged at £5.00. A single medium-sized book of less than 1kg will still only cost £3.00 or less to send. Parcels of 2kg or more are sent by Parcelforce 48 hour service and will usually be delivered two days after despatch. If you are not likely to be at home to accept deliveries, please give alternative instructions (Leave with neighbour; leave in greenhouse; etc.), or provide an address where the parcel can be accepted. NORTHERN IRELAND & SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS. Up to 2kg the postal charge is the same, up to £5.00. Parcels above 2kg cost us £12.00 to send. Unfortunately this is too much for us to continue to subsidise so these will be charged at cost. OVERSEAS POSTAGE. Overseas parcels are charged at cost. Transatlantic air-mail is now quite reasonable. Typically one book costs £7.00 to send, two or three together about £10.00. PROBLEMS? As you know, for most of the year we send out orders within 24 hours. After sending out this catalogue, and during the run-up to Christmas, this is not usually possible. It may take us a week or so to process your order, and there is also the possibility of delays by our suppliers, and by postal services. At such times please allow 14 days before telephoning to follow up your order. When placing telephone orders you will be given an order reference number. Please retain this and quote it when making further enquiries. New Medlar Classics SERIES CASTING AT THE SUN. Chris Yates. Hbk. .......£15.00 ROD AND LINE. Arthur Ransome. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is the principal Federal agency responsible for conserving, protecting, and enhancing fi sh, wildlife, plants, and their habitats for the continuing benefi t of the American people. The Service manages the 150-million acre National Wildlife Refuge System comprised of more than 550 national wildlife refuges and thousands of waterfowl production areas. It also operates 70 national fi sh hatcheries and 81 ecological services fi eld stations. The agency enforces Federal wildlife laws, manages migratory bird populations, restores nationally signifi cant fi sheries, conserves and restores wildlife habitat such as wetlands, administers the Endangered Species Act, and helps foreign governments with their conservation efforts. It also oversees the Federal Assistance Program which distributes hundreds of millions of dollars in excise taxes on fi shing and hunting equipment to state wildlife agencies. Comprehensive Conservation Plans provide long term guidance for management decisions and set forth goals, objectives, and strategies needed to accomplish refuge purposes and identify the Service’s best estimate of future needs. These plans detail program planning levels that are sometimes substantially above current budget allocations and, as such, are primarily for Service strategic planning and program prioritization purposes. The plans do not constitute a commitment for staffi ng increases, operational and maintenance increases, or funding for future land acquisition.

  • The Badminton Magazine
362 THE BADMINTON MAGAZINE when the Leger came to be considered, there seemed nothing to interfere with Jeddah, who was an odds-on favourite, 10 to 1 bar one, this price being taken about Captain Harry Greer’s Wildfowler, who beat Jeddah decisively by four lengths. It was the last appearance but one of the son of Janissary and Pilgrimage. He did not come out again until the Jockey Club Stakes at the Newmarket First October Meeting next season, and this was a hopeless enterprise, for Flying Fox looked as great a certainty as there well could be. Starting at 8 to 1 on, 100 to 7 bar i— Jeddah 50 to 1— the half-brother to Batt cantered home, and Jeddah was relegated to the stud. It was natural to entertain great hopes of him, for there could not well be a better-bred animal than the grandson of Isonomy and Jannette. He stood at a fee of 45 guineas, but has never quite justified expectations. A couple of fillies by him, Gronella and Miss Joppa, won little races in 1903. Next season his children secured four small stakes worth little more than £400, and there was no improvement in 1905 nor in 1906 ; but next season Mussulman was four times successful— the horses, it should be remarked, were now under the charge of a private trainer, Sanderson, junior, who took charge of them when they left Egerton House. In 1908, Jeddah’s son Simonson won the Duke of York Stakes, worth £1,565, and next year the Simonella filly, one of five winners, easily carried off the Sefton Park Plate, a £500 race.

This lovingly, and painstakingly, hand-crafted personal artefact is testament to the great skill and patience of the creator and is a beautiful production that would not look out of place in a museum. Unfortunately we have no provenance to offer beyond the maker’s (Arthur Holmes) signature throughout, as it originated from a provincial fair, with no associated history.

Odgoj konja i konjička takmičenja, pre svega konja engleske punokrvne rase, imaju bogatu istoriju u Srbiji. Činom medjunarodnog priznanja priznanja Srpske poreklopisne knjige za konje engleske punokrvne rase učinjen je istorijski iskorak za konjarstvo i konjički sport u Srbiji i dat snažan podstek daljem razvoju. Ovaj uspeh je postignut zahvaljujući vrednom radu Komisije za Stud Book Konjičkog saveza Srbije koju su činili: dr Dragiša Trailović, Siniša Zlatanović, Dušan Gluvić, dr Imre Boroš, Miloš Stanić i Nataša Pavlović i svima njima odajem zasluženo priznanje. Posebnu zahvalnost dugujemo dr Rolandu Devolzu, Ko-Predsedniku Međunarodnog Stud Book Komiteta koji je svojim bogatim iskustvom nemerljivo doprineo ovom, za naše konjarstvo, istorijskom poduhvatu.
