Thank you for joining us for the final production of our 37th season, the world premiere of Another Roll Of The Dice. We are so pleased to be hosting the birth of this new American Musical. Based on three Damon Runyan short stories and filled with the wonderful songs of Frank Loesser, Mark Saltzman has woven a tale filled with smart humor, romantic intrigue and great music. A brand new creation is always an exciting event — and you are among the very first audiences to experience this new work. Our 38th season is right around the corner, starting off with Peter Shaffer’s Amadeus. In it, slick gangsters and BASED ON THE STORIES OF gamblers, cops and cabaret singers, jilted lovers and Damon Runyon lovable lowlifes were singing, dancing and rolling the dice all over Runyon’s tawdry and tasty Times Square. Well, they picked the right person. SET DESIGN Marty Burnett KEYBOARD Cris O’Bryon LIGHT DESIGN Matt Novotny The Loesser Estate eagerly jumped on board, offering the use of WOODWINDS Gerard Nolan Loesser’s pop songs — the ones that were not written for Broadway COSTUME DESIGN Elisa Benzoni musicals. It was a wonderful gift, but along with it came a challenge: HAIR & WIG DESIGN Peter Herman SOUND DESIGN Ryan Ford Songs written for musicals are crafted specifically to advance a plot. PROP DESIGN Phillip Korth But pop songs are not written to do that. So weaving pop songs into PROJECTION DESIGN Aaron Rumley/Larry Sousa a truly coherent story is a gamble many theatre writers attempt (with, STAGE MANAGER Cindy Rumley* dare I say, mixed results). It’s one of the elements I love most about this world Mark has invented. He’s got me convinced without a doubt that Loesser’s pop songs were written specifically for this show. That Setting: Mindy’s Deli in “Runyonland,” NYC takes a true gift, and it’s precisely the kind of challenge Mark relishes. Time: “Runyontime” — 1930’s/1940’s pre-war era So, he reached back in time, voraciously searching for other Guys There will be one 15 minute intermission and different Dolls. Inspired by Runyon and Loesser’s classic mate- rial, Mark has conjured up a fresh new musical. Another Roll “Another Roll of the Dice” was developed at the 2017 Wyoming Theater Festival, DannyLee Hodnett, of the Dice is both. Ahhh, looks like I scored a pair of aces!
