NESHAMINY-WARWICK PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH Loving God; Building Disciples; Sixt6h Sunday after Pentecost Serving Christ July 4, 2021

PRELUDE "War March of the Priests" By Mendelssohn

WELCOME

HYMN NO. 561 “My Country, ’Tis of Thee” My country, ’tis of thee, Sweet land of liberty, Of thee I sing; Land where my fathers died, Land of the pilgrims’ pride, From every mountainside, Let freedom ring!

My native country, thee, Land of the noble free, Thy name I love; I love thy rocks and rills, Thy woods and templed hills; My heart with rapture thrills, Like that above.

Let music swell , And ring from all the trees, Sweet freedom’s song; Let mortal tongues awake; Let all that breathe partake; Let rocks their silence break, The sound prolong.

Our fathers’ God, to Thee, Author of liberty, To Thee we sing; Long may our land be bright With freedom’s holy light; Protect us by Thy might, Great God, our King. CALL TO WORSHIP Leader: God is mighty in word and deed. People: God’s mercy is everlasting. Leader: Blessed be the one holy and living God. People: Glory to God forever.

WORSHIP SONG “Better is One Day” How lovely is Your dwelling place, Oh Lord Almighty My soul longs and even faints for You For here my heart is satisfied, within Your presence I sing beneath the shadow of Your wings

Better is one day in Your courts Better is one day in Your house Better is one day in Your courts Than thousands elsewhere (repeat)

One thing I ask, and I would seek, to see Your beauty, To find You in the place Your glory dwells

SCRIPTURE READING Mark 6:1-6 6 He left that place and came to his hometown, and his disciples followed him. 2 On the sab- bath he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astounded. They said, “Where did this man get all this? What is this wisdom that has been given to him? What deeds of power are being done by his hands! 3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon, and are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him. 4 Then Jesus said to them, “Prophets are not without hon- or, except in their hometown, and among their own kin, and in their own house.” 5 And he could do no deed of power there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and cured them. 6 And he was amazed at their unbelief. Leader: The Word of the Lord People: Thanks be to God

SERMON “Owner of a Lonely Heart” Pastor Mark Lyndaker-Studer

(Please stand if you are able)

GREAT PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord Our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. ...Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with choirs of angels, with prophets, apostles, and martyrs, and with all the faithful of every time and place, who forever sing to the glory of your name: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and God might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna In the highest Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest ...With thanksgiving, we offer our very selves to you to be a living and holy sacrifice, dedi- cated to your service. Great is the mystery of faith: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.

LORD’S PRAYER Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. HYMN “O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing” O for a thousand tongues to sing My dear Redeemer’s praise, The glories of my God and King, The triumphs of God's grace!

Jesus, the name that charms our fears, That bids our sorrows cease; ’Tis music in the sinner’s ears, ’Tis life, and health, and peace.

Christ breaks the power of reigning sin, And sets the prisoner free; Christ's blood can make the sinful clean, Christ's blood availed for me.

My gracious Master and my God, Assist me to proclaim, To spread through all the earth abroad The honors of Thy name.

BLESSING May the love of God, the power of Christ, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit dwell richly in you forever.

WHAT IS IT?

Some of you may have noticed the structure on the lawn by the front of the church during the outdoor services. It is a garden cen- ter that the BCIU installed, with permission from the Session, to help their young children, 3-6 years old, learn about where their food comes from. There will be window boxes with seeds around the “Garden Center”. It will be used during the summer.
