Executive Engineer, National Highway Division Mangalore has been assigned the work of Consultancy Services for Feasibility Study, Detailed Project Report, Survey and Preparation of Land Plan for Widening to Two lane with Paved Shoulders for Shringeri – Agalagundi – Jayapur – Balehonnur – Hyrambi – Aldur - Nadipur in the State of Karnataka. Consultancy Services For Feasibility Study, Detailed Project Report, Survey And Preparation Of Land Plan For Widening To Two Lane With Paved Shoulders For Karkala – Moodabidri – Bc Road (Including Overlapping Stretch Of 19 Kms Of Existing NH-169 for a total length of 26.00 Kms in the State Of Karnataka. Proposals are hereby invited from eligible Consultants for preparation of Detailed Project Report of Consultancy Services for Feasibility Study, Detailed Project Report, Survey and Preparation of Land Plan for Widening to Two lane with Paved Shoulders for Shringeri – Agalagundi – Jayapur – Balehonnur – Hyrambi – Aldur - Nadipur in the State of Karnataka. Consultancy Services For Feasibility Study, Detailed Project Report, Survey And Preparation Of Land Plan For Widening To Two Lane With Paved Shoulders For Karkala – Moodabidri – Bc Road (Including Overlapping Stretch Of 19 Kms Of Existing NH-169 for a total length of 26.00 Kms in the State Of Karnataka. The Letter of Invitation (LOI) and Terms of Reference (ToR) including Request for Proposal (RFP) is available online on e-tender portal of MORT&H https://morth.eproc.in. Cost of the Document in the form of a Non- refundable document fee of Rs. 6,000.00 (Rupees Six Thousand only) in the form of Demand Draft favouring Executive Engineer, N.H. Division, Mangalore and payable at <Mangalore> must be furnished in a separate envelop while submitting the proposal. The consultants shall furnish as part of its BID, a BID Security of Rs.2,00,000/- drawn on any Nationalized or a Scheduled Bank in India in favour of “Executive Engineer, NH Division, Mangaluru” in the form of Bank Guarantee . Beside the bidder has to pay Tender Processing Fee towards C1 India Pvt Ltd., (https://morth.eproc.in) or “INFRACON” (www.infracon.nic.in). Any BID not accompanied by the BID Security will be rejected 3. The RFP has also been uploaded on “INFRACON” (www.infracon.nic.in). As such before submitting the proposal the Consultant shall mandatorily register and enlist themselves (the firm and all key personnel), on the MoRTH portal “INFRACON” and furnish registration details along with its RFP. A copy of Infracon Operation Procedure is also enclosed for bidder’s reference. 4. All the bidders registered on Infracon shall form a Team on Infracon and which would be assigned unique Infracon Team ID. Bidders while submitting the proposal shall quote the Infracon Team ID. 5. Introduction 1.1.Executive Engineer, National Highway Division Mangalore now invites proposal from Technical consultants for Consultancy Services for Feasibility Study, Detailed Project Report, Survey and Preparation of Land Plan for Widening to Two lane with Paved Shoulders for Shringeri – Agalagundi – Jayapur – Balehonnur – Hyrambi – Aldur - Nadipur in the State of Karnataka. Consultancy Services For Feasibility Study, Detailed Project Report, Survey And Preparation Of Land Plan For Widening To Two Lane With Paved Shoulders For Karkala – Moodabidri – Bc Road (Including Overlapping Stretch Of 19 Kms Of Existing NH-169 for a total length of 26.00 Kms in the State Of Karnataka. (As Per Annexure I ). 1.2 A brief description of the assignment and its objectives are given in the Appendix-I, “Terms of Reference”. 1.3 The Executive Engineer, National Highway Division Mangalore invites Proposals (the “Proposals”) through e-tender (on-line bid submission) for selection of Technical Consultant (the “Consultant”) who shall prepare DPR. A Consultant with “a Particular Team” may submit proposals for more than one package. However, a Consultant is not allowed to bid for a package with more than one team. For the sake of clarity, it is mentioned that one consultant can not submit two proposals/ bids for the same package. A consultant (either as sole or as in JV/Association) can be awarded only upto 2 packages. Consultants are hereby invited to submit proposals in the manner as prescribed in the RFP. A Consultant with “a Particular Team” may submit only one “proof of eligibility (Part 1)” and “Technical Proposal (Part II)” for any number of packages applied for by them. However, the packages for which a Consultant with “a Particular Team” applies should be clearly mentioned. Financial proposal for each package are to be submitted separately. Financial proposal are only to be submitted online and no hard copy of the financial proposal should be submitted. The most preferred bidder (H-1) for each package would be determined on the basis of Quality and Cost as mentioned in the RFP. Award of work to a Consultant with “a Particular Team” either as sole or as in JV/Association shall be limited to one package only. In case, a Consultant with “a Particular Team” turns out to be the most preferred bidder (H-1) in more than one package, the package which is to be awarded to this Consultant with “a Particular Team” shall be determined on the basis of least cost to Executive Engineer, National Highway Division Mangalore considering the financial quote of H-1 bidder and H-2 bidder limited to those packages, which shall be worked out as per the procedure given in the RFP. The consultants are hereby invited to submit proposals in the manner prescribed in the RFP. 4 1.4 The consultants shall submit proposals either in sole capacity or in JV or in Association. Joint Venture/Association shall not have more than two firms. Any entity which has been barred by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) or its implementing agencies for the works of Expressways, National Highways, ISC and EI Works and the bar subsists as on the date of application, would not be eligible to submit the bid, either individually or as a member of a Joint Venture. 1.5 To obtain first hand information on the assignment and on the local conditions, the consultants are encouraged to pay a visit to the client, local State PWDs and the project site before submitting a proposal and attend a pre-proposal conference. They must fully inform themselves of local and site conditions and take them into account in preparing the proposal.

Efforts have been made to collect and develop this plan to make it more applicable and effective to handle any type of disaster. The DDMP developed touch upon some significant issues like Incident Command System (ICS), In fact, the response mechanism, an important part of the plan is designed with the ICS. It is obvious that the ICS, a good model of crisis management has been included in the response part for the first time. It has been the most significant tool for the response manager to deal with the crisis within the limited period and to make optimum use of the available resources.

The nomenclature ‘Dakshina Kannada’ is used here to refer to the present Dakshina Kannada district together with Udupi district separated in 1998, which were jointly referred to as ‘South Canara’ earlier. ‘South Canara’ was an extensively used term during colonial time, and it has been retained in special circumstances and while mentioning colonial records. The name ‘Kanara’, which was formerly spelt as ‘Canara’ is derived from Kannada, the name of the regional language of the State. It appears that the Portuguese, who, on arrival in this part of India, found the common linguistic medium of the people to be Kannada, and accordingly called the area ‘Canara’; ‘d’ being not much in use in Portuguese. This name applied to the whole coastal belt of Karnataka and was continued to be used as such by the British. It is therefore necessary to deploy Tulunadu to refer to the ‘cultural zone’ that included Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Kasaragod districts. The present districts of Karnataka like North Canara, South Canara, Udupi and Kasaragod of Kerala were known as the Canara and Soonda Province, which was under the Madras Presidency. In 1799 AD, after the fall of Tippu Sultan, Tulunadu was brought under the new Canara province. The northern region of Canara province was called North Canara. The same names continued as North and South Kanara after the unification of Karnataka State.

Hosangadi, Kannur University, India The Asian Conference on Literature 2017 Official Conference Proceedings Abstract History speaks on sculptures and silent on sculptors; whereas folktales take contradictory position towards this phenomenon. The folktales, Myths and legends on sculptors of south India narrate the dark shades of the life of sculptors. The present paper is intended to explore the tales from south India and hypothetically propose the four processes occurring in the narration of these stories: 1. Demonisation 2.Suppression 3.Marginalisation 4.Devaluation. So far, intensive studies have been carried out on the South Indian sculptures in scholarly texts. The major works have concentrated on the aesthetic elements of the sculptures rather than sculptors. So, finding the colossal void, present paper would discuss the narration. The paper is confined to the mythology of Thvastr-Vishwaroopa in Sanskrit and legends of Jakkana - Dankana in Kannada, Shambhu Kalkuda - Beera Kalkuda in Tulu, Raman Perunthacchan-Kannan Perunthacchan in Malayalam. These are the major mythological and legendary characters. The paper would use folktales, Myths and legends as primary sources and history works as secondary sources and it also would examine the adaptations of the folktales into theatrical, performing art form and cinematic works. A fraction between the history and the legend is observed: historians have started questioning the very existence of these legendary sculptors and at the same time, folklorists are placing the counter points. Reading the reflections over each other would provide the multiple layers of meanings. ABSTRACT We conducted a cross-sectional study in 40 schools in Karkala Taluk, Karnataka to evaluate whether they met the 10 criteria of Child Friendly School Initiative as recommended by Indian Academy of Pediatrics. Data were collected using a predesigned proforma by talking to the headmaster and school teachers and inspection of the premises for various facilities. We found that none of the schools met all the criteria; 90 % of the schools did not have adequate toilet facilities, 90% did not have safe transportation for the students, children in 82% schools had excess baggage, 72% did not have access to safe drinking water, 57% did not have properly ventilated and illuminated classrooms, and physical punishment was being administered in 45% of schools. 72% of schools did have periodic health checkup, 60% of schools had clean kitchen/ dining room, 60% had adequate facilities for games, and 57% had facilities for first aid facility at school.
