Zumindest hier im Kino. Was Europa angeht, ist das gerade noch offen. Doch auch auf diesem Gebiet dürfen wir mit einer guten Portion gesunden Menschenverstands und dem Ziel rechnen, Vielfalt und Miteinander zu fördern und zu feiern, anstatt wie blöde rückwärts zu laufen. Mo 3 Juni • 19:00 Uhr > s. S. 19 Feiern werden wir, zum zwölften Mal, auf jeden Fall mit unserer Regisseur Ma'an Mousllin zur Nachbarschaft und vielen Gästen beim 4tel-Fest (S. 15) auf den um- Vorstellung von NEWCOMERS liegenden Straßen und Plätzen. Und auch das Filmprogramm geht mit dem Eine-Welt-Netz bald wieder an die frische Luft: Im neunten Jahr lockt das einzigartige Industrie-Ambiente des Hawerkamp-Geländes den ganzen Sommer lang mit unserem Open-Air-Kino Kamp-Flimmern (S. 30). Nicht nur hierfür empfehle ich den Vorverkauf (bei unseren tollen Kolleg*innen an der Kino-Kasse oder online), sondern auch für die besonderen Veranstaltungen mit Filmschaffenden und für die nächste Staffel Alles außer Tatort (S. 8). Ein Grund zur Freude ist es, wenn lieb gewonnene Festival-Entdeckun- gen durch Menschen, die sich für sie einsetzen, doch noch Platz auf Mo 3 Juni • 21:00 Uhr > s. S. 13 den Leinwänden finden. Hierzulande gelingt dies mit zweijähriger Produzent Jean-Paul van Mierlo Verzögerung nun dem differenzierten Gesellschafts-Drama A MAN zur NRW-Premiere von WALKING OF INTEGRITY, das in seinem Entstehungsland Iran nicht so bald zu IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION sehen sein wird. Denn dort wartet Filmemacher Mohammad Rasoulof mit dem Gleis 22 seit der Rückkehr aus Cannes auf seinen Prozess. Dass Korruption und Missbrauch von Macht keine Erscheinungen sind, die in der Ferne liegen, ist derzeit offensichtlich. Umso mehr lohnt es sich, Menschen eine Stimme zu geben, die sonst keine Be- achtung finden, wie RAY & LIZ (S. 7) und den NEWCOMERS (S. 19). Und denen, die die Chance ergreifen, aufmerksam zu sein und für Grundrechte und Vielfalt einzutreten. The collection includes documentaries, public service news programs; Hollywood produced feature films, as well as cinema films produced by the film industry in Puerto Rico. Presently we house over 500 titles, both in DVD and VHS format. Films from the collection may be borrowed, and are available for teaching, study, as well as for entertainment purposes with due consideration for copyright and intellectual property laws. Film Lending Policy Our policy requires that films be picked-up at our facility, we do not mail out. Films maybe borrowed by college professors, as well as public school teachers for classroom presentations during the school year. We also lend to student clubs and community-based organizations. For individuals conducting personal research, or for students who need to view films for class assignments, we ask that they call and make an appointment for viewing the film(s) at our facilities.     May 26, 2021 The Honorable Members of the California State Assembly State Capitol Sacramento, CA 95814 RE: Thousands of CA Public School Students Strongly Urge Support for AB 101 Dear Members of the Assembly, We are a coalition of California high school and college students known as Teach Our History California. Made up of the youth organizations Diversify Our Narrative and GENup, we represent 10,000 youth leaders from across the State fighting for change. Our mission is to ensure that students across California high schools have meaningful opportunities to engage with the vast, diverse, and rich histories of people of color; and thus, we are in deep support of AB101 which will require high schools to provide ethnic studies starting in academic year 2025-26 and students to take at least one semester of an A-G approved ethnic studies course to graduate starting in 2029-30. Our original petition made in support of AB331, linked here, was signed by over 26,000 CA students and adult allies in support of passing Ethnic Studies. Please see appended to this letter our letter in support of AB331, which lists the names of all our original petition supporters. We know AB101 has the capacity to have an immense positive impact on student education, but also on student lives as a whole. For many students, our communities continue to be systematically excluded from narratives presented to us in our classrooms. By passing AB101, we can change the precedent of exclusion and allow millions of students to learn the histories of their peoples.

As Americans from many diverse cultures, we can share in the richness of each other’s experiences and strengths.” Professor Shevey noted that the series continues the Lovinger tradition of serving both as a showcase for premiere international enter- tainment and as a way of introducing area students to theatre.
