Professional Experience

EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT, Luxembourg (LU) Romanian Translation Trainee, April 2015 to present Translated a wide range of parliamentary texts, conducted terminology research (on cybersecurity) and went on missions to Brussels and Strasbourg. Main subjects of concern for translations: internal and external politics, international trade, finance, law, environment, but also culture. Planned and organized language classes for the trainees working at the European Parliament.

SELF-EMPLOYED Certified Translator, 2013 to present Certified translator and interpreter for Romanian, English and German, authorized by the Romanian Ministry of Justice. Extensive experience in specialized translations – law, finance, economy, politics, , mechanical engineering, literature etc. Worked with international translation agencies: Polilingua, InfoMarex, Traductorum.

Selected Accomplishments:

 Published a book translation from Romanian into English "Cluj-Napoca - vestiges, monuments, museums" (author Damian Todița, published by Editura Studia, ISBN 978-973-8390-43-0).

 Contributed to the Romanian translation of "Windpower Workshop" by Hugh Piggott ("Cum să ne construim un motor eolian", published by Cărți din Tei).

LINK LANGUAGE SCHOOL, Brașov (RO) Language Trainer, Oct 2013 to Feb 2014 Taught foreign languages to small groups of adults and children. Provided language courses for the team of technical designers working at the multinational corporation for manufacturing, Dexion Ltd.

HELENE, Cluj-Napoca (RO) – Translation agency TRADART, Cluj-Napoca (RO) – Translation agency Translation Intern, April-July 2012 and March-July 2011 Translated a range of general and specialized texts, from certificates and to technical brochures. Planned and organized the internship at the agencies, being the team-leader of translation students doing their internship there.

Attention to Followed strict translation rules, complying with the Interinstitutional Style Guide and details: other guidelines, paying special attention to details, consistency, fluency and overall quality.

Planning and Organized language classes for the trainees at the European Parliament. Planned management: lessons, activities and suitable educational games for children and adults while working as a teacher in a language school.

Team-work: Reviewed my colleagues’ work, gave and accepted constructed criticism, realizing that the quality of a text can improve greatly through team-work and sharing ideas. Had team-teaching classes for small children. Worked in teams for big translation projects.

Leadership: Team-leader for a group of 30 students working as interns in a translation agency.

Working under The European Parliament is a high-pressure work environment with extremely pressure: important documents that need urgent and high quality translation.

Time Receiving more than 15 documents to translate daily and having to prioritize them management: based on deadline, importance and degree of difficulty. Working as a freelancer and studying at the same time required great time management skills.

Research: Specialized nature of the parliamentary texts, terminology projects on specialized topics, such as cybercrime and cybersecurity, research studies for university.
