He has engineered three game-win- ning drives in the final minutes this season. “There is no stat for come-from-behind wins,” Currin said. “Brian has the mind of a coordinator and the body of an athlete. His week of preparation for each game is as intense as any of our coaches.” Currin says that Stoldt works incredibly hard to make sure his team is ready by game time. “He will watch film all weekend,” Currin said. “On Monday, we talk about what he’s seen in homeroom. If he has a break during the school day, he’ll make sure every- thing is done academically and then he will be with me watching film.” But, Stoldt’s studying is not confined to the school day. “Every Monday or Tuesday night, he hosts a team film session at his house,” Currin said. “He’ll have the offensive line or the running backs meet at his house to watch more film. The kid watches as much film as the coaches do.” All throughout the week, the senior QB will give input to Currin on possible tweaks and changes to the offense. “The coaches decide what we like,” Currin said, “and then I’ll meet with Brian. He has a lot of liberty to talk to me about what he likes or doesn’t like.” Currin has full faith that what his QB thinks is as impor- tant - and maybe even more important - than what the coaches think. Be sure to LISTEN Saturday Morning from 10 to 11!! “His greatest strength is his football mind,” Currin said. “It’s not normal. This is my first year as a head coach and to not utilize his brain would be incredibly stupid.” Stoldt said that the Bulldogs actually benefitted from the coaching change when legendary Dick Diminuco retired and Currin took over. “With all the changes in our program, there were a lot of spots still open,” he said. “A lot of young kids had a chance to move up and get starting jobs. As that hap- pened through the summer, guys got that sense of battling and to keep fighting. That is really is starting to carry over to the season. All that battling we did in the summer has paid off.” Stoldt (5-11, 185) has an academic average of 94 and is ranked 30th in his class of 159 students. He will play college football but is undecided about a major. “I’d like to major in Psychology and Sports Studies,” he said. “One day, I want to be a college coach. I want to go Tony Caligiuri Sean Bruso Mike Ferrentino Roger Weiss as far as I can with it. Not the man who points out where the strong man stumbled or where the doer of deeds could have done them better.

The credit belongs to the man marred by the dust and the sweat and the blood; who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again and again...

...who at best knows, in the end, the triumph of high achievements and who, at the worst, if he fails at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place will never be with those cold timid souls who know neither victory or defeat. - Theodore Roosevelt FootballWeeklyUpstate Are You Game?
