BEST BUDDIES
Eligibility Requirements: Members must complete an online application at www.bestbuddiesonline.org and attend monthly meetings.
Time Commitment/Location: Best Buddies will meet virtually for the 2020-2021 school year. Thirty minute meetings will be held twice a month after school. Associate members are expected to attend the monthly meetings, while Buddy Pairs will have a greater time commitment to the club.
Description: Best Buddies is an international nonprofit organization that seeks to enhance the lives of people with disabilities through one-to-one friendships with non-disabled peers. Best Buddies is a “friendship club” and allows members to pick their level of commitment. Students can be matched in a one-to-one friendship (Buddy Pair) or you can join as an associate member and attend the monthly meetings.

CHINESE HONOR SOCIETY
Eligibility Requirements: Have studied Chinese for four semesters in high school with an average of B or higher. A qualified candidate is someone who is willing to work with the school chapter advisor, as well as with other students, to serve as a positive role model in the area of Chinese studies. Complete online club registration.
T ime Commitment/Location: Anywhere from once a month to once a week depending on committees and events coming up. This year the virtual meetings and board member meetings are typically held during lunch time or after school. Students may need to be available some weekends to participate in community events.
Description: The National Chinese Honor Society (NCHS) was established in 1993 to recognize those accomplished high school students who study Chinese as a world language. The NCHS is a scholastic organization that promotes and recognizes students who demonstrate citizenship, leadership, and community service. The OHS chapter of NCHS organizes the Community Confucius Classroom China Day Event and promotes Chinese culture by holding a series of Chinese New Year introduction and celebration activities each year. We participate in School events of Homecoming, Frost Fest, and Raccoon Rally. We provide our members and students of Chinese program the Chinese light and Chinatown field trips and the opportunity to travel to China to visit our Confucius Classroom sister school.

CLASP
Eligibility Requirements: Complete online registration.
Time Commitment/Location: After school meetings, possible evenings and weekends for service projects.
Description: C.L.A.S.P is a welcoming club that focuses on doing service projects connected to various pieces of literature. We will use the books we read to learn about societal issues and help the community with the matters we learn about. The books and service projects we will do will be determined by the group itself. If you just want to join us for one book that you’ve been wanting to read or for a service project that sounds exciting, feel free to participate! We are looking for members and leaders within our school to do some good for the community.

COMBAT ROBOT CLUB
Eligibility Requirements: Complete online registration.

Description: Just like the TV show, Battlebots, but we would build and fight 150 gram robots in an arena that would be brought and set up at the school. Fights would happen every couple months in a tournament style format. Most building would be done at home, but help and parts would be available through lunch/Pride meetings.

Description: DECA is an association of marketing students. Through leadership conferences, chapter activities, and in classroom activities, DECA enhances student knowledge and experience in marketing. DELTA EPSILON PHI (GERMAN HONOR SOCIETY)
Eligibility Requirements: Students must qualify by years of German, German GPA, overall GPA and hours of service in order to be inducted at the end of senior year and graduate with the honor cord. Participation at the induction ceremony/senior talent show ceremony at the end of senior year is also mandatory. Complete online club registration.
Time Commitment/Location: Anywhere from once a month to twice a week depending on committees and events coming up. Meetings and committee meetings are typically held during Pride or after school. Students may need to be available some weekends to participate in community events.
Description: The German Honor Society’s purpose is to promote the love of German culture and language through outreach events within the students at OASD as well as in the Oconomowoc community. Projects include: October Kinderfest on the Village Green, KinderKarneval at the library, hosting German concerts, Oconomowoc German Christmas Market, GAPP scholarship fundraising, and UW-Madison German Day competition.

ENGLISH HONOR SOCIETY
Eligibility Requirements: Students must have completed (or in the process of completing) 2 or more English classes (at least one accelerated); they must have an overall GPA of 3.25 or higher and an English GPA of 3.60 or higher; they must participate in Read Across America Day or the Book/Supply Drive, and one other NEHS event/activity; they cannot have any academic honesty violations; they must pay a one time NEHS membership fee.
Time Commitment/Location: National English Honor Society meets once per month as a large group, and in smaller committees at various times.
Description: This is a nationally recognized honor society with connections to the International English Honor Society (Sigma Tau Delta). The purpose of the club is to promote literacy in the school, district, community, and beyond.

Time Commitment/Location: Meetings will be about once a month virtually until further notice. Optional competition is held in February with advancement opportunities in April and June unless otherwise determined by National FBLA Center.

Description: FBLA is a club that focuses on preparing students for their careers after high school with co-curricular focuses in the areas of competition, service, networking, and leadership.

Eligibility Requirements: Intra-curricular organization. Must be enrolled in an Agricultural class and complete an SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience). Membership includes WI and National FFA affiliations.

Description: FFA is a dynamic, intracurricular student organization within agricultural education that prepares students for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success. FRENCH HONOR SOCIETY
Eligibility Requirements: A 3.5 GPA in French AND a 2.7 GPA or higher in all other subjects. Complete online registration and pay club fee.
Time Commitment/Location: After school Wednesdays via Google Hangout meetings once a month until restrictions are removed.
Procedure for joining: Students must be in their 3rd semester of French, have a French GPA of 3.5 and an overall GPA of 2.7 or higher. Students must also complete 10 service hours a year to maintain their membership. OHS online registration must be completed.
Description: The purpose of this organization is to stimulate interest in the study of French, to promote higher standards of scholarship, to reward high scholastic attainments, to create enthusiasm for an understanding of the Francophone culture and civilization, to promote and perpetuate international friendship, and to reward efforts toward furthering solidity in the French-speaking world.

GAPP
Eligibility Requirements: Students must show interest in combined projects between the schools on any cultural topic and show adaptability and willingness to adapt to another culture while dedicating their time to speaking German the entire time. Complete online club registration and pay club fee.
Time Commitment/Location:
Description: The purpose of this club is to prepare culturally and emotionally for a 2 to 3 week exchange and travel program. Students get to know a German student before their arrival to stay with them for 3 weeks in the Fall, then prepare for their visit in Germany the following summer. This includes projects and presentation writing, research, and journal keeping about historical, cultural, and education observations.

GLOBAL SCHOLARS PROGRAM/GEAC
Eligibility Requirements: Any OHS student can participate in the Global Scholars Program! Please email Sra. Chaussée or visit her in room 353 if you have questions or would like to sign up!
Time Commitment/Location: The components are completed at a student’s own pace, over the course of 4 years at OHS.
Description: This is a program of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, which prepares globally competent students who are college, career, and life ready. Students who meet the Global Scholars Program completion criteria are eligible for a Certificate of Global Competence from the State Superintendent of Public Instruction. There are four components in the program. Click here for more information. Fee: A Global Scholars tassel can be purchased for graduation upon completion of all the components. JAZZ BAND I & II
Eligibility Requirements: Must pass the audition, complete online club registration and pay club fee. Enrollment in OHS Band program for Wind and Percussion players. For guitar and piano, students may audition from outside the program, but program enrolled students take priority.
Time Commitment/Location: Jazz I meets Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:30, Jazz II meets Wednesdays nights.
Description: Jazz is the one truly American art form that is recognized and respected throughout the world. A jazz band gives the students an opportunity to express themselves by playing individual parts and learning improvisation. Improvisational skills improve basic musicianship through practice and advanced theoretical knowledge. Playing in a jazz band stresses advanced skills in rhythm reading, gives increased range and articulation challenges.

JAZZ BAND COMBO
Eligibility Requirements: Must pass audition and complete online club registration and pay club fee.
Time Commitment/Location: Tuesdays from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the band room.
Description: Experience jazz music in a small combo setting where students learn to improvise in various styles (blues, Latin, rock, etc). Students learn various chord progressions, learn chord symbols, learn the art of transcribing solos, and listen to great jazz artists.

LINK CREW
Eligibility Requirements: Must be a Junior or Senior only; must apply in April for the following school year. Complete online registration and pay club fee.

Description: LINK Crew is a group of trained upperclassmen mentors who mentor a small group of freshmen throughout the year. The students are required to attend two days of training to prepare for Freshman Orientation. The club also plans formal and informal mentoring opportunities throughout the year and new for 2020-21, leaders will be partnered with Freshman teachers to implement mentoring throughout the year.

Description: Model United Nations is an authentic simulation of the U.N. General Assembly and other multilateral bodies. The Model United Nations is a club designed to provide students with the opportunity to discuss and debate global issues with students from our high school, as well as other students from around the nation, possibly the world. Members of the MUN club will learn and demonstrate the skills of diplomacy by attending meetings and conferences intended to reflect the international political environment of the United Nations. The desired MUN experience is for students to have fun through student interaction and the role playing of global figures.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

Description: NHS members are chosen on scholarship, character, service and leadership. Members must demonstrate qualities in these four areas to be chosen for and maintain membership. Members must attend the monthly NHS meeting(s), complete 15 service hours per semester and participate in the NHS service project each semester. OHS BUILDERS
Eligibility Requirements: Students will need to finish the shop safety and ideally be currently enrolled in a Building Trades or an Engineering/Fablab course.
Time Commitment/Location: We will hold planning meetings throughout the year and build projects both in school and off-campus.
Description: This club is set up to get exposure to the construction field. We do site visits and tours to various construction sites/ companies (Stone Craft, Riley, TOB Homes, Delafield Waste Water Plant, KG Stevens, KH Construction). The club is also designed to get kids working with tools and building. We do a lot of projects in the community and for the community as well as various school projects. We’ve worked on trailhead plaques for the area parks, Best Buddies project with Bimbo Bakeries, bat houses, bean bag fundraiser, Okauchee Lions Park pavilion stage, concession stand, coffee cart, storage shelves... PAWS
Eligibility Requirements: Complete online registration, attend at least 5 of the club meetings per year and participate in at least one volunteer activity per year. Time Commitment/Location:
Description: This club works with various community organizations that support the welfare of animals, for example, the Elmbrook Humane Society (EBHS), Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha (HAWS) and the Wildlife in Need center. Club members will volunteer at activities to help support the individual missions of these organizations. Possible volunteer options could include helping at Wagfest, contributing to their wish list collection, making toys for the animals at the shelters, and volunteering at different events. The club activities will compliment the curriculum of both our Vet Studies and Animal Science and Horsemanship courses. Students who are interested in a career that involves working with animals are encouraged to participate.

PEP/MARCHING BAND
Eligibility Requirements: Needs to be a member of the OHS band and pass the audition.
Time Commitment/Location: Summer, weekends, evenings throughout the entire school year.
Description: Pep Band performs for football games, select basketball games, as well as other community events throughout the year. Marching Band performs at Homecoming, Memorial Day, Brewers games, Main Street at Disney World and other events throughout the year.

31 RHO KAPPA (SOCIAL STUDIES NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY)
Eligibility Requirements: Junior/Senior with at least 4 credits of SS and at least 1 credit of AP/IB in Social Studies with a 3.75 grade Point in SS and 3.0 overall.

Description: Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society is the only national organization for high school juniors and seniors that recognizes excellence in the field of Social Studies. Rho Kappa provides national recognition and opportunities for exploration in social studies. At OHS, Rho Kappa helps put on events for the OHS and greater Oconomowoc community throughout the year, such as the Veteran’s Day assembly and veteran’s brunch.

ROBOTICS
Eligibility Requirements: Complete online registration and pay club fee. Time Commitment/Location: During build season, work days are 3 hours long, 4 days a week. It takes a lot to build a bot. We will use 3 rooms in the tech ed area, but home base is room 241.
Description: The Robotics team meets all year but designs and builds a robot in 6 weeks to compete in the USFirst Robotics competition.

ROCKESTRA

Description: Rockestra is a string instrument group that learns music from all genres: from classical to pop! We focus on learning in smaller chamber ensembles and putting on performances using music technology.

ROCK CLIMBING
Eligibility Requirements: Willingness to have fun and learn to challenge yourself and be supported by a team atmosphere. Paid student membership at Adventure Rock. Complete online registration and pay club fee.
Time Commitment/Location: 2-4 practices per month, one special event per month September-May
Description: Our club meets for two hours a week or every other week at Adventure Rock in Pewaukee for group practice. With your membership to the gym, you are able to use AR anytime it is open. The season runs from September-May. We have Friday night competitions once per month from November-April or a special event. We also take trips to improve our skills and it’s fun. These may include the bluffs at Devil’s Lake, the Boulder Gym in Madison or Milwaukee, Ledge Park in Horicon, or Treetop Explorer in Waukesha. No experience necessary, but the desire to have fun, learn new skills to improve, and have the camaraderie of a team. We will do fundraisers throughout the year to help decrease membership costs and support our extra items (t-shirts, field trips, meals out at times).

SAGA

Time Commitment/Location: This year, we will be hosting monthly virtual meetings - both on a school-level and through the national organization, GSAFE.
Description: SAGA stands for Sexuality and Gender Acceptance. It is a student led club that promotes discussion and inclusion for our LGBTQ+ students and their allies. Our club meets on the second Thursday of each month from 3:00pm - 3:30pm.

SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY
Eligibility Requirements:
● All juniors and seniors, who have completed through Spanish 3 with a cumulative 3.5 GPA in Spanish and a 3.0 cumulative overall are eligible to participate. Students will be invited to participate in SHH in the fall of the year. Students must be currently enrolled in a Spanish class. ● By April of senior year, members must have completed 25 hours of service that benefit other Spanish students, the school community, and / or the greater community in the areas of Spanish and / or Spanish-speaking cultures to be formally inducted. ● By April of senior year, members must have completed a reflection on their participation in and impact on SHH to be formally inducted. ● By April of senior year, members must demonstrate 3.5 Spanish GPA (cumulative) and 3.0 overall cumulative GPA to be formally inducted.
Time Commitment/Location: During the 4th week of the month, a meeting will be held via Google Hangout. Meetings will be held based on alphabetical groupings onTuesday-Friday.
Procedure for joining: Eligible students will receive an invitation. Upon induction their senior year, students must pay their induction fee. Members must also complete the online club registration.

OJWC STUDENTS 4 SERVICE
Eligibility Requirements: Complete online club registration and pay club fee. Complete 10 volunteer hours per semester and willingness to participate in volunteer opportunities supported by the club.
Time Commitment/Location: 1st and 3rd Monday of the Month (starting 2nd semester due to current restrictions for volunteer opportunities), 10 service hours/semester
Description: The OJWC Students for Service Club partners with the Oconomowoc Jr. Woman’s Club to provide opportunities for those students interested in volunteering their time to give back to the community. Activities include: bingo at Shorehaven, Christmas Clearing Council, Relay for Life, just to name a few.

THEATER
Eligibility Requirements: Cast and crew members of 2020-2021 OHS Performances. You must be cast in a show during the school year (The Musical, Senior Directed or the Spring Play) or volunteer a scheduled amount of time backstage. Complete online registration and pay club fee.
Time Commitment/Location: Full commitment for 6-8 weeks of rehearsal time abiding by the schedule laid out by the Director, Technical Director and/or Stage Manager.

THESPIAN SOCIETY
Eligibility Requirements: Volunteer hours, meetings, and complete OHS club registration.
Time Commitment/Location: 2 meetings/month - either virtually or in the Little Theater. Volunteer activities in and out of school that support the Theater Department and the Oconomowoc community at large.

Description: The International Thespian Society is an honor society for high school and middle school theatre students. It is a division of the Educational Theatre Association. “Act well your part; there all the honor lies.”

TRAP SHOOTING
Eligibility Requirements: Hunter Safety, shotgun, ear protection, eye protection Time Commitment/Location: Mondays starting in late February until May. Procedure for joining: Complete online club registration and pay club fee. Description: Learn how to shoot competitive trap and shoot against teams in a trap conference with continued gun safety lessons also part of the club. We are part of the SWYTC SCTP Conference and shoot league meets plus multiple tournaments. There is some travel involved when we shoot at other team’s venues.

TRI-M MUSIC (HONOR SOCIETY)
Eligibility Requirements: Students must… ● be a member of an OHS curricular music performing ensemble ● maintain a 3.25 GPA each semester ● perform in the induction recital upon application ● complete online club registration ● pay the OHS club fee each year and the one time Tri-M Membership Dues

45 VOCAL JAZZ (GOLDEN GALS & GOLD VIBRATIONS)

Description: Gold Vibrations is a mixed voice by audition co-curricular choir, and Golden Gals is a treble voice by audition co-curricular choir that extends student involvement, knowledge and vocal technique in performance of jazz and pop stylings of vocal music beyond the curricular choir. These groups perform in OHS Choral Concerts and as well as in the greater Oconomowoc community as an outreach and service opportunity.
