In my four years, we have always won the intramural football championship. We have also claimed victory in indoor soccer, in addition to the highly-touted innertube water polo championship this year. Due to our successes on the field, we have received the IFC award for intramural excellence. We also have many brothers who play on UVA teams beside the intramural league. Brother Taylor Swindell was on the UVA club lacrosse team that won a national championship and Brother Jefferson Dockter plays on the UVA tennis team. Lastly, Brother Lester Coleman is the starting punter for the UVA football team, and was named to 2nd all-ACC this past fall. Looking Ahead This May we said goodbye to 23 members at this year’s graduation, including myself. This is a bittersweet time but nonetheless I know the Hall will continue to thrive because it is in great hands. Overall, the Upsilon Chapter has never looked better in my time at UVA. There is something different about Hall brothers; our bond is noticeable on Grounds and our emphasis on what matters most sets us apart. As a result, first-years desire to be in the Hall and we are committed to finding young men that will give back, just as so many current and former brothers did and continue to do. For these reasons and more, the Upsilon chapter is well suited to prosper through 2018 and beyond. Please never hesitate to contact us if you are ever in Charlottesville, as we’d love to have you come by the house or as a guest for a Brother’s Night Wednesday evening.     New faculty for 2015-16 Woodberry Forest School is pleased to announce the appointment of these new faculty members. Kevin Bennert ’11 joined the faculty as assistant director of the Amici Fund and alumni relations in 2015. He holds a BA in history from Duke University. Kevin lives in the Lower Taylor Apartment. Reed Davis ’95 began service on August 17, 2015, as Woodberry Forest School's new director of operations. He comes to Woodberry from a career in the construction industry overseas and Charlottesville, Virginia, where he worked most recently as an owner's representative. He holds a BA in English from James Madison University. Reed joins Gene Lewis, director of facilities, and David Clore, project manager, to plan and oversee physical plant projects, starting with the Walker Building renovation currently underway. Reed lives in Charlottesville with his wife, Katherine, and their son. Paul Erb teaches English and coaches squash. He holds a BA from Amherst College, an MA and PhD from the University of Michigan, and a DEA from Universite de Paris III. He came to Woodberry in 2015 from Tandem Friends School where he served as business manager. He has also been a teacher and administrator at St. Christopher’s School, Episcopal High School, and St. Anne’s-Belfield. Dr. Erb and his wife, Nina, live in the Upper Dick Gym Apartment. Robert Johns teaches math and coaches indoor and outdoor track and field. He came to Woodberry in 2015. Robert holds a BS in mathematics and computer science from The College of William & Mary. He lives in the Assistant Dairyman’s Cottage.

In fact it was a CIA operation that went terribly wrong. The film, which became the subject of stories in the press early in 1993 when pressure was put on Channel 4 to turn it down, became a last-minute addition to the London Film Festival at the end of the year, only to be dropped a few days later when a London solicitor acting for an official of the US Drugs Enforcement Agency (DEA) named Michael Hurley threatened action for libel. The Festival commented that claims similar to those made in the film are already the subject of a libel action and they had therefore reluctantly had to cancel the screening (Hurley is suing Bloomsbury over a book called Trail of the Octopus by former US intelligence agent Lester Coleman). Jim Swire, spokesman for bereaved families in Britain, said that if the film were only half true, 'there must have been a monumental cover-up’. Francovich, an American film-maker well known for On Company Business and other documentaries exposing the CIA, presents the story through a series of interviews, which move from residents of Lockerbie and others involved in the clear- up immediately after the event, by way of Pan Am security staff at Heathrow, to a diffuse group consisting mainly of intelligence operatives, journalists and investigators, including the former Iranian prime minister Bani Sadr.
