Recording Industry In Numbers 2009 The Definitive Source Of Global Music Market Information www.ifpi.org Recording Industry In Numbers 2009 The Definitive Source Of Global Music Market Information www.ifpi.org It all started in a café in Bristol, England in 1934, when dance musicians were replaced by vinyl records played on a phonograph. Back then, PPL had just two FOR 75 YEARS, members – EMI and Decca. Now we have over 3,400 record companies and, following a merger with the principal performer societies, 39,500 performers. In addition, our reach has extended to include international repertoire and overseas PPL HAS BEEN royalties through 42 bilateral agreements with similar organisations around the world. PPL licenses businesses playing music, from broadcasters to nightclubs, from GROWING INTO A streaming services to sports studios, from internet radio to community radio. Licensees are able to obtain a single licence for the entire PPL repertoire, a service which is seen as increasingly valuable for both rightholders and users alike as MODERN SERVICE consumption of music continues to grow. Broadcasters such as the BBC have commented that they simply would not be able to use music at such a scale, across nine TV channels, sixty radio stations, the iPlayer and numerous online services ORGANISATION without a licence from PPL. The PPL licence is equally valuable to other users, such as commercial radio stations, BT Vision, Virgin Media, Last.fm and even the fourteen oil rigs that want to keep their oil workers entertained on their tours of duty. FOR THE MUSIC For the performers and record companies who entrust their rights to PPL, the income from these new distribution outlets is becoming increasingly valuable.

  • Rock Album Discography Last Up-Date: September 27Th, 2021
Rock Album Discography Last up-date: September 27th, 2021 Rock Album Discography “Music was my first love, and it will be my last” was the first line of the virteous song “Music” on the album “Rebel”, which was produced by Alan Parson, sung by John Miles, and released I n 1976. From my point of view, there is no other citation, which more properly expresses the emotional impact of music to human beings. People come and go, but music remains forever, since acoustic waves are not bound to matter like monuments, paintings, or sculptures. In contrast, music as sound in general is transmitted by matter vibrations and can be reproduced independent of space and time. In this way, music is able to connect humans from the earliest high cultures to people of our present societies all over the world. Music is indeed a universal language and likely not restricted to our planetary society. The importance of music to the human society is also underlined by the Voyager mission: Both Voyager spacecrafts, which were launched at August 20th and September 05th, 1977, are bound for the stars, now, after their visits to the outer planets of our solar system (mission status: https://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status/). They carry a gold- plated copper phonograph record, which comprises 90 minutes of music selected from all cultures next to sounds, spoken messages, and images from our planet Earth. There is rather little hope that any extraterrestrial form of life will ever come along the Voyager spacecrafts. But if this is yet going to happen they are likely able to understand the sound of music from these records at least.

  • Premiär För Didos "Don't Believe in Love"
2008-11-10 09:00 CET Premiär för Didos "don't believe in love" Om mindre än två veckor släpper Dido sitt nya album "Safe Trip Home". "I write songs and I sing them and I try and put my all into them and I try and put every emotion into them and I hope that they move people." "Maybe I leave myself exposed, but I find it hard to do anything that isn't emotional or doesn't move me in some way", säger Dido. Dido fick sitt stora genombrott för snart tio år sedan med skivan "No Angel" som tillsammans med uppföljaren "Life For Rent" har sålts i 250000 exemplar i Sverige. När "Life For Rent" släpptes gick den direkt in på första platsen i 26 länder. Med låtarna "White Flag", "Here With Me", "Hunter", "Thank You", "Life For Rent" och "Don't Leave Home" har Dido fått en hängiven publik över hela världen.

  • DIDO at Veszprémfest! Veszprémfest Will Be Organised for the 17Th Time
DIDO at VeszprémFest! VeszprémFest will be organised for the 17th time in July 2020. From the many events at this premium music festival lasting several days, the first announcement made by the festival organisers introduces the performer for 15 July: the main stage in the História Garden in Veszprém will feature none other than Dido herself! VeszprémFest organisers are happy to announce that one of the global star performers of next year’s festival will be the British singer Dido. During her twenty-year career the singer has never performed a solo show in Hungary, so this concert in Veszprém will be the first where Hungarian fans can enjoy an entire concert with Dido’s emotional and gripping songs. Dido was born in 1971 as Florian Cloud de Bounevialle Armstrong, and now she is one of the most successful performers in the United Kingdom. She was given her stage name by her mother after the queen of Carthage, and began her music career with the help and support of her brother Rollo Armstrong, a founding member of the music group Faithless. During her career she has sold more than 40 million records, and her first album entitled No Angel in 2001 was the most popular debut record ever among British female singers. To this day it has sold 21 million copies and was awarded platinum status in 35 countries. The sweeping success of No Angel not only brought sales figures in the millions, but also a number of awards for the singer, including the MTV EMA and the Brit Awards.
