Myrmica cagnianti, a new ant from North Africa (Hymenoptera, Formicidae). Misc. Zool., 19.1: 67-74. Myrmica cagnianti, a new ant from North Africa (Hymenoptera, Formicidae).- Myrmica cagnianti, a Moroccan ant, is proposed as a new species. It is characterized by its scape without lobulated extension, fine pilosity, absence of tibial spurs 11 and I1I and the shape of the petiole node. Differences from M. aloba Forel, M. specioides Bondroit and M. scabrinodis Nylander are described. The males of this new species are very similar to M. scabrinodis males. Cephalic indices provide a good way to discriminate between M. cagnianti and related species. The social parasite Myrmica kabylica (Cagniant) has been found in a nest of this new species, constituting the second record for this rare ant. Key words: Myrmica, New species, Formicidae, Maghreb. This paper includes all the records for this family for Continental Portugal and the islands and lists, for each species, the papers where it is recorded and the localities from which it has been recorded. To the present date, one hundred and six species have been recorded from Continental Portugal, eighteen from the Madeira Archipelago and twelve from the Azores. (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) BERNHARD SEIFERT With 9 tables and 41 figures Abstract 33 species and one distinct subspecies of the ant subgenus Lasius s.str. are described for the Palaearctic region, including 1 7 species described as new and 8 taxa raised to species level. 1 taxa are synonymized and 12 taxa cannot be interpreted because of insufficient descriptions and unavailability of types. A total of 5050 specimens was studied and 3660 specimens were evaluated numerically giving 27 000 primary data on morphology. In the numeric analysis, the body-size-dependent variability was removed by consideration of allometric functions. The species'descriptions are supplemented by comments on differential characters and taxonomic status, by information on distribution and biology and by figures of each species. A key to the workers and comparative tables on numeric characters are provided. Zusammenfassung Eine taxonomische Revision der palaarktischen Vertreter des Ameisensubgenus Lasius s.str. ZooKeys 406: 25–40. doi: 10.3897/zookeys.406.7124 Abstract The taxonomy of the myrmecophilous Maculinea alcon group (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae) is highly de- bated. The host-plant and host-ant usage of these butterflies have conventionally been important in their identification. Maculinea ‘rebeli’ has generally been considered to be the xerophilous form of Ma. alcon (Ma. alcon X hereafter) with Gentiana cruciata as initial food plant. However, the type locality and all other known sites of Ma. rebeli are found above the coniferous zone, and are well separated from the lower regions where Ma. alcon X sites are found. Furthermore, no food plant and host ant data for the nomino- typic Ma.

Entomol. Fennica 30: 2027. https://doi.org/10.33338/ef.79902 Parasites are an important component ofecological communities, as they shape host population dynamics and interfere with interspecific competition in ecosys- tems. Here, we studied Wolbachia infection and parasitoid occurrence among caterpillars ofthe endangered Phengaris teleius butterfly in five populations in- habiting southern Poland. The knowledge about potential parasites of P. teleius may be of particular importance for understanding forces regulating population processes ofthis species. Our study showed lack of Wolbachia infection and endoparasitoids in the sample of91 4 th instar P. teleius caterpillars. However, we found larvae of an unidentified hymenopteran ectoparasitoid on 17 3rd and 4th instar P. teleius caterpillars. We compare our results to findings from other popu- lations of P. teleius, and its sister species in Europe and Asia, and discuss possible causes ofobserved patterns ofparasite occurrence. E.
