In 2016 two flying east, on 29 February and a sub-adult flying around E of Aston 17 March 2016 (JT). Two over Beambridge heading NE on 30 December 2018 (JT). 3 Whooper Swan A group of 22 seen well and heard calling over Hopesay on 25 October 2016 (A&HS). 10 Canada Goose Breeding confirmed on the pool at Hesterworth, 2013. The village, which is small, is situated on the river Onny and on the turnpike road from Bishop's Castle to Shrewsbury. The parish comprises the townships of More, Moreswood, and Linley. The soil is of various quality. There are several ancient camps. The tithes have been commuted for a rent-charge of £240. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Hereford, value £270. The church, dedicated to St. Peter, is an ancient stone structure, with a tower containing three bells. The church has recently been rebuilt. The parochial charities produce about £10 per annum, of which £5 goes to Roger's school.

Abstract The Anglo-Saxon period spanned over 600 years, beginning in the fifth century with migrations into the Roman province of Britannia by peoples’ from the Continent, witnessing the arrival of Scandinavian raiders and settlers from the ninth century and ending with the Norman Conquest of a unified England in 1066. This was a period of immense cultural, political, economic and religious change. The archaeological evidence for this period is however sparse in comparison with the preceding Roman period and the following medieval period. This is particularly apparent in regions of western England, and our understanding of Shropshire, a county with a notable lack of Anglo-Saxon archaeological or historical evidence, remains obscure. This research aims to enhance our understanding of the Anglo-Saxon period in Shropshire by combining multiple sources of evidence, including the growing body of artefacts recorded by the Portable Antiquity Scheme, to produce an over-view of Shropshire during the Anglo-Saxon period.

Adams Hello again, This has felt a very long term and I’m sure all members of our school community are looking forward to the Christmas break. Our Jubilee Year is now coming to its end and it’s been a successful and interesting year; raising nearly £10,000. It has been a real pleasure for the school to welcome back ex pupils and ex staff. I hope you were able to attend the jubilee fete in the summer, it was an excellent afternoon that will long live in the memory. The final act of the year was to draw the yearlong raffle. Congratulations to the lucky winners. Thank you to everyone who has been involved in making this year such as success; particular thanks to of our parent Governors, Shelly Hurdley and Nicola Jebb. It has been a busy term in School. It was a great pleasure to welcome back our last year’s year 11 pupils to collect their certificates and prizes. The School prides itself on ensuring pupils achieve very well at GCSE, far better than other North Shropshire schools. It was a very enjoyable and emotional evening with the certificates and prizes being presented by James Staniforth, Principal of Shrewsbury Colleges Group. James gave a very enjoyable talk to pupils explaining to the ex- pupils and parents about how hard work and effort in education will be rewarded with better performance. I hope as many of you as possible were able to come to the Performing Arts showcases that ran in early November.
