Until such time, please contact [email protected] if you see any amendments or updates required to your information or in general. -------------------------------- COONAWARRA VIGNERONS EVENT UPDATES Coonawarra Cellar Dwellers 1 – 31 July 2017 Expressions of Interest sought for Shirazz Jazz- pop up wine bar- ONE SPOT STILL REMAINING!! Temperatures are set to rise again this year with Shirazz, one of Melbourne’s premier Jazz bands, back to perform during Cellar Dwellars. Unlike last year’s opening weekend appointment, the band will be performing on the 2nd weekend of July, on Saturday 8th July again at Rymill Hall. As per last year, Coonawarra wines will be on offer and we are now seeking expressions of interest from wineries to service this event. 1 spot still remaining. Allocations will be on a first come, first served basis (excludes wineries involved in last year’s event) and committed wineries will be required to assist with the set up and pack down of the venue. CEO of Vinehealth Australia, Inca Pearce, says another extension to this PIZ boundary is concerning, and highlights the importance of implementing farm-gate hygiene practices. The extension was gazetted on 30 March 2017 and was announced by Agriculture Victoria yesterday. The extension captures four additional vineyards in the Yarra Valley region. Statement of Heritage Value This is an outstanding building which is significant for its high integrity, its fine design by prominent colonial architect GE Hamilton, its outstanding construction, its significant associations with the early development of Mount Barker and as a significant landmark on Gawler Street. Relevant Criteria (a) it demonstrates important aspects of the evolution or pattern of the State's history, being one of the least-altered and most representative mid-19th-century post offices in the State, and providing authentic representation of the early development of the Postmaster General’s Department. (b) it has rare, uncommon or endangered qualities that are of cultural significance, being an uncommon surviving example of an intact and little-altered mid-19th-century post and telegraph office with attached residence. (d) it is an outstanding representative of a particular class of places of cultural significance, namely a Colonial post office. (e) it demonstrates a high degree of creative, aesthetic or technical accomplishment or is an outstanding representative of particular construction techniques or design characteristics, especially its little-altered external form and construction, and its well-preserved architectural design by AE Hamilton. RECOMMENDATION This place is recommended for retention in the State Heritage Register.
