(April 13, 2015) – NTT DATA Chip Ganassi Racing driver Tony Kanaan finished sixth on the 2.74-mile road course at NOLA Motorsports Park in the inaugural Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana. The Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana marked the debut of the Verizon IndyCar Series at NOLA Motorsports Park. After inclement weather cancelled qualifying and offset Kanaan’s first-place finish in his group, the field was set based on Entrant points after the St. Petersburg race which meant Kanaan would start third. Due to incoming weather and track conditions, the race was a timed race of 105 minutes and all cars were allowed to do a five-minute systems check prior to green flag. After receiving the green flag, Kanaan hit a wet spot on the first lap and briefly went off into the grass which resulted in the loss of three positions putting him in sixth. An early strategic call from Kanaan’s pit stand called for the No. 10 NTT DATA Chevrolet to come in on Lap 11 to be one of the first cars in the field to switch from rain tires to slick tires and also receive fuel. When Kanaan returned to the field from pit lane on cold tires and in damp track conditions, he overshot a corner and ended up in the grass. He was able to make it out of the mud before getting stuck and causing a yellow, but the No. 10 lost multiple positions and was running near the back of the field. By Lap 15 Kanaan had run the quickest lap of the race, but with his two off-track incidents he was running in the 18th position. The first yellow of the race came out on Lap 15 for a stopped car on track and Kanaan was called back in to pit under yellow after the team found a fuel probe issue that had caused no fuel to be put into the No. 10 NTT DATA Chevrolet on the first stop. The field went green again on Lap 20 and was followed by multiple cautions over the next 10 laps. NTT DATA Chip Ganassi Racing took advantage of Kanaan’s current position of 19th and the multiple yellow flags, and had the No. 10 in twice on Lap 22 and 29 to top off on fuel. The two extra fueling opportunities allowed Kanaan to push the car as hard as he could and not worry about conserving fuel. After another yellow for a car stopped in the gravel trap on Lap 33, the field went green on Lap 36 with Kanaan cycling back up to fifth. The immediate yellow following that restart only lasted for three laps and the field went green again on Lap 39 with 20 minutes remaining. Another yellow flag came out with 10 minutes remaining for a stalled car on track and Kanaan was sixth on the restart with only eight minutes remaining. After two minutes of green flag racing another caution came out for a multi-car incident. Kanaan was able to maintain his current position before the last caution came out and the No. 10 NTT DATA Chevrolet would receive the checkered flag in sixth under caution. With the result, Kanaan holds the fifth position in the Verizon IndyCar Series point standings with 63 markers, 21 points behind the points leader Juan Pablo Montoya. Notes of Interest Kanaan was overall fastest in the first practice session on Friday afternoon. Kanaan and the No. 10 car crew were presented with the Firestone Pit Stop Performance Award after the first practice session on Friday for having the fastest pit stop during the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Before the qualifying session was cancelled on Saturday, all four CGRT cars were positioned to advance to the next round and Kanaan finished P1 in his group in round one. The Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana began an hour earlier than scheduled due to weather and was a timed race of 105 minutes. Kanaan opened the season with two top-10 finishes with a third place finish in St. Petersburg and a sixth place at NOLA Motorsports Park. NTT DATA Chip Ganassi Racing Quoteboard Tony Kanaan, No. 10 NTT DATA Chevrolet: “NTT DATA Chip Ganassi Racing started the race really strong and I was running up in the top five quite a bit there at the beginning. We were one of the first cars to change to slicks and I just came into a corner a little too fast with cold tires and ended up in the grass. We lost some spots there, but it allowed the team to use my position to our benefit and we were able to get a lot of fuel on the yellows and run as hard as we could when it went green. I think I was running all the way back in 19th at one point, so it just shows how much the team and my engineers and strategists came together to get the No. 10 NTT DATA Chevrolet a sixth-place finish.” Dixon Finishes 11th in Time-Shortened Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana AVONDALE, La. (April 13, 2015) - Target Chip Ganassi Racing (TCGR) driver Scott Dixon finished 11th on the 2.74-mile road course at NOLA Motorsports Park in the Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana. The Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana marked the debut of the Verizon IndyCar Series at NOLA Motorsports Park. Dixon started the inaugural race in the 15th position after being forced to start by entrant points due to Saturday’s qualifying session being cancelled for weather circumstances. The No. 9 Brita Chevrolet dropped to the 20th position before a green flag pit stop on Lap 15. After returning to the track, a full-course caution flew for a car stopped on-track and allowed Dixon to move up to 18th. During a cycle of multiple cautions, Dixon climbed his way into the 13th position in just 12 laps. The caution flag flew once again on Lap 34 for a car off track, and the No. 9 team pitted for fuel only for their last pit stop of the day. After restarting in the 16th position, Dixon worked his way into the 11th position; however a time-restrained race cut the race 28-laps short. Dixon finished the inaugural Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana 11th. With the result, Dixon holds the 15th position in the Verizon IndyCar Series point standings with 19 markers, 50 points behind the points leader Juan Pablo Montoya. Notes of Interest The race morning warmup session was cancelled due to inclement weather. Before the qualifying session was cancelled on Saturday, Dixon was positioned to advance to the next round. Dixon led the final practice session on Saturday in dry conditions. The Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana began an hour earlier than scheduled due to weather and was a timed race of 105 minutes. TCGR Quoteboard Scott Dixon, No. 9 Brita Chevrolet: "It’s a shame we didn’t get much green-flag racing in today here at NOLA. I wish we could have gotten more racing in with the dry conditions after the start. Our Brita car was really fast in the last dry practice session of the weekend so we were optimistic for the race. It’s just one of those things where you spend a lot of time under the yellow flag.” Kimball Finishes Caution-Ridden Race in 14th at NOLA Motorsports Park AVONDALE, La. (April 13, 2015) – Novo Nordisk Chip Ganassi Racing (NNCGR) driver Charlie Kimball finished 14th on the 2.74-mile road course at NOLA Motorsports Park in the inaugural Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana. The Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana marked the debut of the Verizon IndyCar Series at NOLA Motorsports Park. After inclement weather cancelled qualifying and offset Kimball’s advancement to the top 12, the field was set based on Entrant points after the St. Petersburg race which meant Kimball would start 21st. Due to incoming weather and track conditions, the race was a timed race of 105 minutes and all cars were allowed to do a five-minute systems check prior to green flag. Kimball was able to gain one position and move up to 20th on the first lap and then continue to advance up to 17th until pitting for the first time on Lap 14 for slick tires. Immediately following NNCGR’s first planned stop, the field went yellow for a car stopped on track on Lap 15, which allowed the No. 83 NovoLog FlexPen Chevrolet to come in under yellow to top off on fuel. The field went green again on Lap 20 with Kimball in 19th on the restart. Another yellow flag came out immediately for a car in the run-off and the field would not go green again until Lap 27 with Kimball in 15th on the restart. After multiple cautions over the next five laps, NNCGR would take advantage of one of the cautions and pit under yellow for fuel and tires on Lap 32. The field went green on Lap 36 with an immediate caution as the No.
