A Pro class is designated by RED markings on the number panel, mirrors, windscreen banner, rear wing end plate, and leader light. A Pro-Am class is designated by BLUE markings on the number panel, mirrors, windscreen banner, rear wing end plate, and leader light. Number panels are backlit for easy identification at night. LEADER LIGHT SYSTEM To help fans follow the on track action, the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship has introduced a revolutionary and state-of-the-art Leader Light System for the 2014 season. It allows fans to easily identify the position of each car in its respective class. The position of the car is displayed on an LED panel mounted on the rear side section of each car. The color of the LED number corresponds with the red (Pro) and blue (Pro-Am) colors utilized in both the Prototype and GT style of cars. For instance, a red #5 LED number on a GT style car it means that car is in 5th position in the GTLM class. Each style of car has two classes, Pro and Pro-Am, meaning there are four classes of racing on track together, each with their own battle for the lead. PRO VS PRO-AM The Pro classes typically feature a professional driver line up while the Pro-Am classes pair a professional and amateur driver together. CLASS SPECIFICATIONS PROTOTYPE (PRO) The Prototype (P) class features the fastest and most technologically advanced cars in North America. They are specifically designed and engineered for the race track and look drastically different than a typical street car. PROTOTYPE CHALLENGE (PRO-AM) The Prototype Challenge (PC) class is a spec class featuring open cockpit race cars and technology such as carbon fiber chassis, carbon brakes and a sequential gearbox. GT LE MANS (PRO) The GT Le Mans (GTLM) cars are the fastest GT cars on the track. They are based on production models and are engineered to extract the maximum performance possible. The class serves as a true proving ground for leading manufacturers such as BMW, Corvette, Ferrari, Porsche, and SRT. GT DAYTONA (PRO-AM) The GT Daytona cars are enhanced (not defined by) technology. They are also based on production model cars but do not feature the same level of aerodynamics and power as the GTLM class cars. The GTD class consists of cars from the GRAND-AM GT and ALMS GTC classes as well as select FIA GT3-spec cars. (December 28th, 2018) JDC-Miller MotorSports confirmed today that 23-year-old California native Gustavo Menezes will join the team for the 2018 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona in the No. 99 Red Dragon JDC-Miller MotorSports GAINSCO insurance entry. Menezes is considered one of the brightest American talents in International Motorsport and won the 2016 LMP2 FIA World Endurance Championship as well as the 2016 24 Hours of the LeMans in the LMP2 category as an Alpine LMP2 manufacture driver. Menezes was recently announced as one of the drivers for Rebellion Racing’s 2018 LMP1 program.     Sebring, 18 March 2001 Audi repeats last year’s Sebring victory Audi had a successful dress rehersal for the 24 Hour Race at Le Mans: For the second time in a row Team Audi Sport North America took a 1-2 victory at the 12 Hours of Sebring (USA). Michele Alboreto, Laurent Aiello and Rinaldo Capello finished the race just 0.482s ahead of their team mates and last year’s winners Frank Biela, Tom Kristensen and Emanuele Pirro. The Audi customer teams of Champion and Johansson even made it the first 1-2-3-4 victory of Audi in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) finishing 3rd and 4th. In front of a record crowd of 168,000 spectators, the two Infineon Audi R8s were setting the pace from the start on a track which is famous for being very demanding. The two customer R8s, however, stayed close making the pace among the leaders extremely fast. The two Infineon Audi R8s were fighting for victory for the whole twelve hour distance. Despite the enormous strain, the cars did not suffer from any severe difficulties. The Infineon Audi R8 #1 just had its front brake discs replaced shortly after half distance, the companion car had two pit stops because of a malfunction in the engine’s electrics. For the Audi crew the dress rehersal for Le Mans, however, is not completely over: On Monday and Tuesday the torture of another full 12- hour-distance is on the schedule for one of the two successful Infineon Audi R8s.     Contact: Adam Saal Bill Klingbeil SRT Motorsports Thursday Practice Notes Twelve Hours of Sebring at Sebring International Raceway March 12, 2014, SEBRING, Fla. - SRT (Street and Racing Technology) Motorsports ran through a thorough and complete schedule of testing Thursday with its Viper GTS-R teams at Sebring International Raceway in the opening day of practice for Saturday’s 62nd annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida. Placing an emphasis on team execution and pre-race preparation rather than an all-out pursuit for top speed, both the No. 91 SRT Viper GTS-R and drivers Marc Goossens, Dominik Farnbacher and Ryan Hunter-Reay, and the sister No. 93 SRT Viper GTS-R of Jonathan Bomarito, Kuno Wittmer and Rob Bell, were put through their preliminary paces of the weekend. The SRT entries posted their respective fastest laps of the day in Thursday’s morning practice session in which the No. 93 clocked in at 2:00.763 (111.491 mph) and the No. 91 lapped at 2:01.321 (110.978 mph). In total, the six drivers on the SRT lineup have a combined one victory, four podiums and nine top-five results in 22 career appearances in the 12 Hours of Sebring. Hunter-Reay co-drove to a victory in the LMP2 class in the 2011 edition of the endurance race and was the class runner-up last year. Both Farnbacher and Goossens have appeared on the podium at Sebring. This weekend’s race at Sebring marks the one-year anniversary of SRT Motorsports’ return to major-league sports car racing in last year’s 12-hour classic.

This time round, it was Timo Bernhard, Earl Bamber and Brendon Hartley (N°2 Porsche 919 Hybrid) who claimed the discipline’s most prestigious prize after winning the weekend’s drama-packed race which was led during the hours of darkness by the N°1 Porsche 919 Hybrid (Jani/Lotterer/Tandy), in the wake of the near-simultaneous retirements of the N°7 (Conway/Kobayashi/Sarrazin) and N°9 (Lapierre/Kunimoto/Lopez) Toyota TS050-Hybrids, and after the long period spent by the N°8 Toyota (Buemi/Davidson/Nakajima) in its pits to resolve a technical issue. During this time, the N°2 Porsche concentrated on its bid to recover the chunk of time it had lost on Saturday evening while curing a technical problem. Undeterred, and after the race had been led briefly by an LM P2 prototype, the three drivers went on to emerge at the top of the order with one hour remaining. Since the beginning of its uninterrupted sequence of 20 Le Mans victories in 1998, Michelin has won the Le Mans 24 Hours in association with Audi, Bentley, BMW, Peugeot and Porsche. And prior to that, it won the French marathon with McLaren, Mercedes, Alpine-Renault and Chenard & Walcker.
