Objective In this session you cover how to use some of the Email Communications RADEditor features such as: • Managing and using the Image Manager • Table Wizard for a formatted column layout • Applying CSS Classes • Using the Insert options What is a RadEditor? RadEditor is a feature-intense control from Telerik that acts as a Word®-like WYSIWYG (What You See is What You Get) editor for managing rich text and HTML content live within Arena. This control has many features; therefore, a link is provided to additional online resources. The editor tools have been modified so that the most common tools are available. http://www.telerik.com/support Which Editor to Use? While Arena has one set by default, you can specify which of the available options to use in the applicable module setting. The module setting is available on the New Communication and Mission Details pages. How to use Toolbar Buttons Before you focus on a few key features, let us review the available toolbars that contain a set of buttons and drop-down lists you click to perform common tasks. Spellcheck icon for inline spell checking of email content Find and replace icon to find and replace content Cut selected content Copy selected content—text and images Paste content at the cursor Paste Word® content and retain formatting Paste Word® content and clean unnecessary Office®-related font formatting Paste removing all HTML formatting, pastes plain text Paste and render HTML code Formatting When copying text from a different application, use the Format Stripper drop- down to remove any formatting (from just the selected text or whole text). Formatting Select text to apply bold formatting. Select text to apply italics formatting. Select text to apply underline formatting. Click this button to align the selected paragraph to the left. Click this button to center the lines in the selected paragraph. Click this button to align the selected paragraph to the right. Click this button to remove alignment of the selected paragraph. Click this button to indent a paragraph from the left. Click this button to indent a paragraph from the right. Click this button to apply a numbered list to selected text. Click this button to apply a bulleted list to selected text. Managing and Uploading Images Use the Image Manager to upload an image… with the additional option to upload to an existing folder or create a new folder. Make note of the file size limitations and allowed file types. Image Editor After uploading an image, click the Properties tab to make adjustments such as default size, alignment, and border. Adjustments apply to the image. Use the Image Manager Click the Image Editor to edit the image. You can crop, resize, adjust opacity, rotate, and add text. Using the Video Manager Use the Flash and Media Manager icons to upload various files of videos. Each has a default file size of 14.31 MB. Your email server likely has file size restrictions as well. Additional Attachment Options Use the Document Manager to upload a document. Use the Format Stripper to strip desired formatting. Traditional Format Options Use the traditional document format options: • Bold • Italics • Underline • Justification – left, center, right, full, and remove all alignments • Indent and hanging indent (“outdent”) • Number and bullet outline Hyperlinks After applying the URL hyperlink, you can right-click to access properties or use the options at the bottom of the HTML window. Use the Table Insert Consider using the Table Builder to create content areas, such as for communication templates. Using Snippets and Symbols Code Snippets are predefined chunks of content (HTML). Arena Administrators can customize the available options in the respective XML file in the ~Arena ChMS\Arena\RadControls\Editor folder. Use the symbol drop-downs to insert symbols. General Formatting Use the drop-down lists to change: • Font color • Background color • Font • Font Size What is CSS? CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheets. CSS defines how HTML elements are to be displayed. Styles were added to HTML 4.0 to solve a problem. CSS saves a lot of work. External Style Sheets are stored in CSS files. What is CSS? CSS is available in Arena. Your Arena Administrator can add new ones and then specify which one to use in the respective modules. Work with CSS Users can then select a CSS element to apply to select text in the HTML message area.
