GOVERNMENT OF INDIA RAILWAYS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO:532 ANSWERED ON:19.07.2017 CCTV Cameras Mahto Dr. Banshilal;Rathore Shri Hariom Singh Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state: (a) the number of CCTV cameras installed at railway stations during the last three years and the current year, zone and station-wise; (b) the number of CCTV cameras likely to be installed by the Railways during the next financial year along with the funds allocated for the same; (c) whether the crime rate at railway stations had dropped during the last three years and if so, the details thereof; (d) whether in view of providing adequate security to passengers including women passengers and checking theft cases, the Government proposes to install CCTV cameras in trains also and if so, the details thereof; and (e) the number of trains in which CCTV cameras have already been installed? Answer MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS (SHRI RAJEN GOHAIN) (a): Details of the number of Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras installed at railway stations during the last three years and the current year are appended. (b): It has been decided to provide nearly 35,000 cameras with allocation of fund to the tune of ?500 crore under Nirbhaya Fund over 983 railway stations in next two years. ...2/- -2- (c): The crime rate at railway stations over Indian Railways has not shown declining trend during the last three years. Further, prevention of crime, registration of cases, their investigation and maintenance of law and order in Railway premises as well as on running trains are the statutory responsibility of the State Governments, which they discharge through Government Railway Police. -

ICRA notes that Central Coalfields Limited (CCL, JCRL’s parent, owning 64%1 of the shareholding) plans to significantly ramp-up coal production in the North Karanpura coalfield over the medium term, which, along with shorter lead distances, faster rake turn-around times, and lower trip costs following the commissioning of JCRL’s railway line, partly mitigates the traffic fluctuation risk. Moreover, given the strategic importance of the rail corridor to CCL's expansion plans, the operational synergies between CCL and JCRL remains high, which supports JCRL’s business risk profile. In addition, JCRL’s credit profile benefits from the strong financial profile of its parent CCL, as well as IRCON International Limited (IRCON), which has a target shareholding of 26% in JCRL. JCRL’s rating also factors in the fixed revenue share clause with MoR for providing reserve services, which partly mitigates risks associated with inadequate increase in freight rates to cover for rising operation and maintenance (O&M) costs. The rating, however, is tempered by JCRL’s exposure to high project implementation risks, leading to risks of time and cost over-runs, and the company’s sizeable dependence on external borrowings, which is likely to lead to modest debt coverage metrics during the initial years post commissioning. -

The campaign will run through citizen participation during the monsoon season, from 1st July, 2019 to 15th September, 2019. An additional Phase 2 will be run from 1st October, 2019 to 30th November, 2019 for States receiving the North East retreating monsoons. The focus of the campaign will be on water stressed districts and blocks. Govt moves statutory resolution to extend Prez rule in J&K for 6 months The Rajya Sabha approved a statutory resolution to extend President’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir for another six months beginning July 3, 2019.. The Upper House also cleared the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (amendment) Bill, two days after it was passed by the Lok Sabha. The reservation bill and the statutory resolution now await President Ram Nath Kovind’s assent. Rajya Sabha chairman M. Speech of Shri Lalu Prasad Introducing the Railway Budget 2006-07 On 24th February 2006 1. Mr. Speaker Sir, I rise to present the Budget Estimates 2006-07 for the Indian Railways at a point in time when, there has been a historical turn around in the financial situation of the Indian Railways. Our fund balances have grown to Rs. 11,000 cr and our internal generation, before dividend has also reached a historic level of Rs. 11,000 cr. With this unprecedented achievement, we are striding to realize the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s dream of making Indian Railways the premier railway of the world. Sir, this is the same Indian Railways which, in 2001 had deferred dividend payment, whose fund balances had reduced to just Rs. 350 cr and about which experts had started saying that it is enmeshed a terminal debt trap. You might term this a miracle, but I was confident that : “Mere zunu ka natija zaroor niklega, isee siaah samandar se noor niklega.” 2. Sir, the whole nation can see today that track is the same, railwaymen are the same but the image of Indian Railways is aglow. This has been the result of the acumen, devotion and determination of lakhs of railwaymen. Sir, the general perception so far has been that Railways’ finances cannot be improved without increasing second class passenger fares. But my approach is entirely different. In my view, improvements can only be brought about by raising the quality of services, reducing unit costs and sharing the resultant gain with customers. Therefore, instead of following the beaten path, we decided to tread a new one.
