Local Curiosities The area of Villedieu Intercom, counting 29 municipalities around Villedieu-les-Poêles, is crossed by the rivers Sienne, Vire, Sée and Soulles. This area, which is typical of Normandy, is characterized by several smaller mountains, such as the Mont Robin, near Percy, with a height of 276m. Beslon: • Cross-shaped church, which was enlarged in the middle of the 19th century, among others with stones of the Saint-Fraguaire church, which is right next to it. Montbray: • Bourg with grouped habitat in arc of circle around the old castle mound. • Former castle, transformed into town hall with a monumental granite staircase of the 17th century. • Restored washhouse close to the old estate of the castle. • Saint Pierre Chapel in the heart of the agglomeration with interesting furniture. • The church of Saint Martin, further, is characterized by very rich furniture. • Many path crosses. • Magnificent panorama on the valley of the Drôme, the forest of Saint-Sever, the borough and the abbey of Saint-Sever. Morigny: • Church, whose bell tower was rebuilt at the end of the 19th century, object of a popular cult in Sainte Venisse. • Very beautiful property of the Aumoire with defensive dovecote, pond, former property of a canon of Avranches. • Typical rural country house made of granite. Percy: • Village from the reconstruction. • State houses, rue Gustave Blouet (road of Montabot), having reliefs in front of the houses due to Lambert Rucki. • Cross-shaped Neo-Gothic church restored in the 20th century. Saint-Maur-des-Bois: • Formerly renowned for its paper mills on the river La Sienne. • An oblong church with a bell tower on the west side, the object of a popular cult. • Funeral heritage including the tomb of Gendrin-Dumesnil, officer. Saint-Pois: • Big village on hillside with houses made of country stone. • Neo-Gothic Church, consecrated on September 16, 1888. Stained glass windows of the choir on the roundabout created by the glass-maker François Aberge of Toulouse in 1899. • Deep valleys, numerous outcrops of granite. • Castle on the road of Saint-Michel-de-Montjoie: dovecote, chapel, monumental porch, wood/forest. • Granite Road. The Tanu-Noirpalu: • The Viaduct of Guibel, built in 1869. • Romanesque Church of the Tanu, apse with a furnace bottom shape, 11th-12th centuries, extremely rare in La Manche, porch of the same period, old funerary slabs. • The church of Noirpalu beautifully restored in 1998 after the fire which destroyed it on January 11, 1996. Bell tower from 1657, choir and nave from 1771, lengthening of the nave in 1828. La Trinité: • Very beautiful canopy of the Crucifixion at the head of the church. • Many ancient gravestones around the church, outside and inside. • Panorama on the “bocage”. • The obelisk of the public garden of Coutances comes from the quarries of La Trinité. Villedieu-les-Poêles: • The town of Villedieu-les-Poêles is characterized by the conservation of a dense traditional habitat.
