The engage International Summer School welcomes experienced educators, visual artists, curators and academics - working in the field of gallery and museum education and engaged visual art practice - to review and develop their practice during a three-day residential course. ‘Fantastically hosted event which allowed participants to build their networks and connections through well managed group activities and events. Thank you!’ Summer School 2013 participant This peer-led professional development event represents an opportunity for mid-career or senior colleagues to work together to: - Reflect on aspects of current practice in gallery and museum education - Review current research and political agendas - Learn about international contexts for gallery and museum education - Network with UK and international colleagues - Consider the role of artists working with participants This year's engage Summer School will be hosted by Falmouth University in Cornwall from Tuesday 8 to Thursday 10 July. The Summer School programme will focus on the theme ethics and activism in gallery and museum education and the visual arts sector. As well as a stimulating range of peer-led sessions and workshops the event will include a field trip to galleries and artist-led venues such as Tate St Ives and Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden, Newlyn Art Gallery and The Exchange. This is an exciting opportunity to take part in in-depth discussion, meet colleagues from across the UK and around the world; potentially present or lead a session to develop your own research/practice; and to find out about arts and education programmes in Cornwall and the South West. The cost of attending starts at £275 for non-members of engage, £200 for Organisational members and £150 for Personal members. Low-cost accommodation is available at Falmouth University..
