  • For Good Times
Q QUIVERTREE PUBLICATIONS for good times STYLISH PLANS AND PRINTABLES FOR PARTIES EVERY MONTH OF THE YEAR julie gallagher PHOTOGRAPHY VANESSA LEWIS RECIPES TARYNE JAKOBI PRINTABLES AMANDA AND MICHAEL CRAMER foreword Ever since I was a small boy I have loved anything to do with cooking, crafting and parties. I was raised by two little old ladies whose whole existence was to make me happy. And they did so by cooking and crafting with me. The parties were plentiful and since we lived kinda far away from other kids, the guests were those little old ladies and my teddy bears. The teddy bears would be dressed up in bow ties, hats and glasses and my grandmother and great aunt would dress up in their finest. There would be finger sandwiches, small pies, scones and whatever I fancied that day. I though of myself as a Little Lord Fauntleroy. I still love a good party, so this book is just what I need. It’s filled to the brim with fun ideas and awesome recipes. The girls have really made a winner here! So let all us partiers unite and cheers to wishing you the best time ever! Paul Lowe aka Sweet Paul www.sweetpaulmag.com 4 5 introduction A FEW GOOD WORDS Following in the footsteps of In Good Company’s in-store experience and daily blog posts, here is a book full of exactly what we love to do all day – share stylish design inspiration and decor ideas for parties. What’s more, this book combines easy-to-execute craft activities, simple step-by-step recipes and “push print” stationery; all with a keen attention to doing-it-yourself.

  • “Just a South African Girl Living in an Alabama World”
“Just a South African Girl Living in an Alabama World” Earlier this month, a friend battling brain cancer shared that he had become frustrated being unable to visit mountainous areas where he could take in the beautiful colors of fall. His illness restricts him from a number of things he wishes to do. However, in the same breath, he mentioned how he had failed to notice the tree God placed in front of his own home that was absolutely radiant with the various shades fall brings. God’s beauty, so evident! The following weekend I explored Moss Rock, a beautiful preserve with such incredible scenery, a great suggestion from my friend. As I walked, I prayed, thanking the Lord for His immaculate creation. The colors of fall were incredible. I was reminded of my friend’s longing to see the colors, and I “just so happened” to have my camera with me. I snapped a few pictures, excited to share the photos! Such beauty! The deep orange colors of the leaves reminded me of the story in Exodus where the Lord spoke to Moses through the burning bush. I found a comfortable place to sit as I opened the scriptures, desperate to hear from the Lord. Why did He draw me to the story of the burning bush? I soaked in each word, to the extent that I even took my shoes off, as Moses did on Holy ground, longing for the Lord to speak to me as He did with Moses. The following scripture moved my heart: "...Who makes a person's mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the Lord?" - Exodus 4:11 It was then I felt convicted.

  • Rooibos and Honeybush Tea United Nations
Diagnostic study for the promotion of beneficiated agro- industry products for export: Rooibos and Honeybush Tea United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) Estelle Bienabe, Cerkia Bramley, Johann Kirsten University of Pretoria October 2008 1 Executive Summary The report provides an overview of the Rooibos and Honeybush tea sectors in South Africa with the aim of investigating the potential for local beneficiation. Particular emphasis is placed on supply chain analysis and the international market dimension. It is evident when comparing the domestic and export component of the respective industries that the lack of value addition in the foreign market create a substantial loss of value for local actors. The report indicates that as the most significant actors already own in-house packing facilities, the ability to package Rooibos locally does not appear to be a significantly prohibiting factor. Given the very low percentage of Rooibos sold in packaged form overseas, it is however, unlikely that the industry will move significantly towards local value adding in the near future, as it will have far reaching implications in terms of reorganisation in the supply chains. It is further evident from the analysis of the overseas market structure that the main actors in Europe have well established capabilities and investment in the different dimensions of value adding as well as a sound knowledge and embeddedness with respect to the international consumer market. The report further indicates that the larger actors in South Africa have positioned themselves mainly as suppliers of raw materials and that this is unlikely to change significantly over the short term as it would result in them directly competing with their bulk sales.

We also offer delicious sweets and savories and invite you to take a moment to relax: This is Chado. Chado is pronounced “sado” in Japanese. It comes from the Chinese words CHA (“tea”) and TAO (“way”) and translates “way of tea.” It refers not just to the Japanese tea ceremony, but also to an ancient traditional practice that has been evolving for 5,000 years or more. Tea is quiet and calms us as we enjoy it. No matter who you are or where you live, tea is sure to make you feel better and more civilized. No pleasure is simpler, no luxury less expensive, no consciousness-altering agent more benign. Chado is a way to health and happiness that people have loved for thousands of years. Thank you for joining us. Your hosts, Reena, Devan & Tek A BRIEF HISTORY OF CHADO Chado opened on West 3rd Street in 1990 as a small, almost quaint tearoom with few tables, but with 300 canisters of teas from all over the globe lining the walls. In 1993, Reena Shah and her husband, Devan, acquired Chado and began quietly revolutionizing how people in greater Los Angeles think of tea.
