I learned to knit when I was 20 years old. As an Afghani living in Saudi Arabia, I taught myself by watching YouTube videos because when I started to learn knitting, there were no knitting videos in Arabic. Therefore, I had to learn English as well. Once I learned to knit and learned a little English, I opened a YouTube channel to teach knitting in Arabic. Knitting may have started out as a hobby, but then I discovered that it was a passion. I started designing in 2018. Knitting designers are not common in the Arab community, so to see another knitter make one of my designs would be one of the most exciting things I could imagine, and it would fill me with incredible joy and be a dream come true.
The name Dream Glow comes from a BTS + Charli XCX song of the same name. When I was designing this scarf, I was listening to this song. The lyrics didn’t only speak to me; they touched me on a deep level, as if the song was written about me.

FINISHING
Weave in all ends using a tapestry needle. Soak the shawl for 20 minutes in lukewarm water, press out the excess moisture with a towel and lay shawl flat, pin to shape, and allow to dry.
