SNAPStudents on Capital Hill

SNAP Students were recognized for their academic achievements on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.

enator Hillary Rodham Clinton and Senator Edward M. Kennedy con- Sgratulated SNAP Students from Boston, New York, , Raleigh, Washington, DC, and the Navajo Indian Nation.

Also in attendance were Tim Shriver from and Evander Hollyfield Famed Boxer and Chairman of the Hollyfield Foundation.

SNAP Chairman, Edward Gartz said "In a night of very heavy voting on Capitol Hill Senator's Kennedy and Clinton took time out of their very busy schedules to visit and address the Ed with audience of SNAP Students and their Snap Students parents. Senator Kennedy and Senator Clinton greeted the students, camera's were click- ing all over as the students talked to all of our famed guest and the night will be remem- ber for a long time by all of the SNAP Students." "Jaye Monroe dazzled the audience with a rendition of the poetry called "War Painted" that he wrote for his SNAP class. Jaye, reciting his poem in the Navajo Language and in English to honor his Grandmother who at the time was seriously ill and had encouraged him to learn the ancient lan- guage as he grew. Senator Kennedy hugged Jaye, and Jaye gave the Senator a copy of his speech." Both Senator were exception- ally gracious and the students were thrilled to meet them in person."

SNAP STUDENTS, is a nonprofit 501c3 organization. It's mission of SNAP is one of prevention through education. The core of all of SNAP Student teaching projects is to enhance the students reading, writing, Ed with Hillary Clinton and Pricipal and research skills and improve communication within the family and within our world community. SNAP projects are designed to provide an opportunity for students to think through, research and write about the ramifications of involvement with alcohol, drugs, guns, gangs, smoking, teen sex, and other risky or illegal behaviors in an effort to halt these dangers before they ever start.

SNAP teaching is new , an over whelming success, and needs your help.
