Weston Newspaper History Itinerary Date Publication Activity Sep 28, 1833 Royal L'Spa Courier Revision courts for the purpose of revising the list of voters. Weston had six electors (Think this means people eligible to vote in the village) Oct 21, 1843 Royal L'Spa Courier Joseph Purden was accused of stealing from Weston under Wetherley 1 gallon and a half of split beans, the property of William Harris his Master, sentenced to 6 months imprisonment in the house of correction and set to hard labour. Nov 1, 1845 Royal L'Spa Courier Notice given. Application to Parliament for making and maintaining a railway. Railway intended to be made and maintained from within the parish of Weston. Including compulsory purchase of land and property. See attached A Apr 5, 1850 Hereford Journal Reverend George Stable BA appointed to vicarage, vacant by the death of Rev Thos Warde May 11, 1850 Royal L'Spa Courier Thomas Connelly, John McDonought, Michael Kilgallan and John Kilgallan charged with assaulting Thomas Brennan at Weston. Brendan and John Kilgallan had been taken by mistake and therefore set at liberty. The complainant was knocked down and brutally ill treated by the defendants his statement corroborated by Jane Campbell the landlady of The Bull in at Weston, defendants fined 10 shillings six pence each including costs and allowed a week to pay the money Jul 8, 1850 Birmingham Gazette Rev George Stable took the oaths upon presentation to the vicarage of Weston under Wetherley. Sep 7, 1850 Royal L'Spa Courier Extensive fire broke out in the Rickyard of Mrs Sammons containing 13 large ricks, a hovel, a cowshed, agricultural implements and wagons were all consumed by the fire. Children playing with Lucifer matches were responsible. Two Leamington gentlemen observed the manner in which a child was amusing himself with matches and commented that he would start a fire, just before it started. Jan 28, 1862 Royal L'Spa Courier Fracas in the hunting field. North Warwickshire hounds were in full cry near Weston Under Wetherley when a gentleman who had been staying at Leamington named Allcock road his horse towards a small enclosure belonging to Mr Thomas Campbell a farmer at Weston Under Wetherley leading his hack with intention of making a shortcut to the hounds. Mr Campbell stood with a warning attitude and asked Allcock to stop swearing and not ride over his grounds, Mr Allcock disregarded the command and jumped the fence with his horse Mr Campbell then held up a gun to bar the hunters progress over his land. A struggle took place and the gun exploded taking away a riding whip and Mr Campbell's coat. Mr Campbell took out a summons against him for striking him which was to be heard at the magistrates in Leamington but neither party appeared. Sep 17, 1863 Birmingham Daily Warwickshire agricultural society prizes for Devon cattle. First prize to A Umbers of Western Hall for the best Bull. Post Dec 4, 1863 Leicester Journal Birmingham and Midland counties agricultural show. Third prize to Mr F F Wells of Weston under Wetherley for pig breeding May 13, 1864 Coventry Herald Charlotte Walker was charged with stealing £6 and 10 shillings the property of Thomas Muddiman of Weston, the prisoner was remanded until the man she had robbed had recovered from the state of drunkenness in which he was found. Sep 3, 1864 Royal L'Spa Courier Absconding from the reformatory. Joseph Hobson brought into custody and charged with absconding before the term of his imprisonment had expired. Very interesting story see attached C Sep 17, 1864 Royal L'Spa Courier Warwickshire agricultural society. Mr R Farmer won first prize for best cwt of cheese made in his own dairy in 1864 & Oxford Times and second prize for the best six cheeses Jun 24, 1865 Royal L'Spa Courier Poor rate of 10.5d in the pound set for Weston Dec 23, 1865 Royal L'Spa Courier Cattle plague Southam division request for candidates to be appointed as Inspectors Nov 17, 1866 Royal L'Spa Courier Poor rate for Weston set at 7p in the pound Apr 13, 1867 Royal L'Spa Courier Warwickshire reformatory institution. Annual meeting of the supporters of the reformatory institution for boys at Weston Oct 26, 1867 Reading Mercury Edward Barrett 17 charged with absconding from the Warwickshire reformatory at Weston under Wetherley. Prisoner was apprehended the following day and handed over to the Warwickshire Constabulary. Oct 31, 1868 Royal L'Spa Courier The poor rate for Weston was set at 9pm Oct 31, 1868 Royal L'Spa Courier The County Reformatory. The Rev Sidney Turner her majesties inspector of reformatories visited the Warwickshire County reformatory at Weston, the reverend gentlemen examined the boys in the branches of knowledge in which they are instructed and made a satisfactory report. An inquest was held at West Hall the residence of Mr E Umbers before Mr W S Poole coroner on view of the body of Ann Trottman 18 years of age accidentally shot the previous evening. Mr Thomas Umbers the son of Mr D Umbers explained to the jury how it happened. Upon taking the gun down off the beam it by some means slipped and the deceased thinking it was going to fall came and caught hold of it by the muscle when it accidentally went off lodging its contents in the girls forehead where her brains were knocked out onto the floor. Sep 17, 1878 Royal L'Spa Courier Petty Sessions Annual Licensing Session - Drunk and riotous in his own house. John Eales innkeeper of the Bull public house was reported as being drunk and riotous in his own house and since this time the conduct of the house had not been good. John Eales was not present at the session and the licence not granted and was instructed to 'stand over' until Eales was present.

Park in the far end of the car park, permission has been given. Walk description Starting from the Hatton Arms Inn. We walk to Hatton railway station following field paths and return back to the inn along the tow path of The Grand Union Canal. The Warwickshire and Birmingham Canal opened in 1799 and was built to carry coal to Warwick and Leamington to help to develop industry. Throughout its life it has seen cargoes of steel and tomato puree for the HP factory in Birmingham.

The trust is also responsible for arranging an independent appeal against refusal of a place at the school. The trust must act in accordance with admissions legislation and the School Admissions Code.
