3. Salden Chase Update West Bletchley Council’s Salden Chase Sub Committee met on 11th April 2019 to review updates and actions relating to the applications for development on land adjacent to the parish. Its discussions and recommendations were considered at the subsequent meeting of West Bletchley Council, held on 23rd April, when it was resolved to both “submit a formal challenge to Milton Keynes Council’s handling of the South West Milton Keynes application” and “allocate an additional £10,000 towards challenging the proposals for development”.
Meanwhile, at a meeting of its Strategic Development Management Committee held on 24th April, Aylesbury Vale District Council extended its delegation to officers, in respect of the South West Milton Keynes application, to include the requirement to secure a financial contribution towards secondary health care facilities at Milton Keynes University Hospital within the legal agreement referred to in that delegation.
Aylesbury Vale District Council has yet to confirm formal approval of the planning application but should this happen correspondence has been prepared by the Salden Chase Sub Committee to challenge AVDC’s decision.
The Sub Committee has also again confirmed its decision to meet on a regular basis with urgent meetings to be called on receipt of further relevant information.
Please continue to check our website at: www.westbletchleycouncil.gov.uk for updates.
BLETCHLEY EVENING WI
Why not join a friendly group of ladies who meet on the First Thursday of each month, 7.30 p.m. at St Andrews Church, St Andrews Road, Bletchley.
We have a varied range of speakers who visit most months.
Our Programme for 2019 includes a talk on ‘The Wartime Housewife’, trying some ‘Chair Yoga’ – for those who don’t want to tie themselves in knots – or a practical craft evening, which involves using our mouths for chatting and our hands for creating.
We look forward to welcoming new members.
4. DISHWASHER
A commercial dishwasher was installed just before Christmas in time to help with the running of the local Winter Night Shelter at Whaddon Way Church Centre, West Bletchley.
A big thank you to the contribution that West Bletchley Council made towards the purchase and installation of the new machine. The new church building was built over 6 years ago and the kitchen was fitted with just the basics at the time as it was felt that a dishwasher was not an essential expense.
The Church has just taken on being on the Milton Keynes church rota for the Winter Night Shelter between the months of December and March in the West Bletchley area, providing an evening meal and cooked breakfast. The dishwasher will provide a fast, hygienic wash which will free up volunteers to be helping in other ways, not only at the night shelter but other community events held at the centre.
Thank you.
ARMED FORCES COVENANT
The Armed Forces Covenant represents a promise by the nation that those who serve or have served, and their families, are treated fairly.
West Bletchley Council has signed the covenant and in doing so has pledged to be an armed forces friendly organisation.
We are now in the process of considering ways in which we can offer support to our armed forces colleagues, residents and their families. Please continue to check our website for updates.
Further information about the Armed Forces Covenant, including support and advice for veterans, can be viewed at the following link: Picture of Cllr Veronica Belcher Chair of West Bletchley Council, signing the Armed Forces https://www.armedforcescovenant.gov.uk Covenant

The story so far: We have 4 separate Don’t park on them! schemes up and running involving over
100 residents. They have been litter picking, cleaning garage areas, cutting verges outside their home and wild flower seed planting. At present there are 3 more areas considering joining, how about your area, get in touch to discuss how it could work for your area?
6. HAVE YOU EXPLORED THE PARKS IN WEST BLETCHLEY RECENTLY? Did you know the grass in Barleyhurst Park, Chepstow Park, Church Green Park, Eight Belles Park, Rickley Park, and The Leys Park is cut fortnightly from April until October. This means the parks are always ready whether it’s for picnics, ball games, family get-togethers or exercising etc. Almost all of the parks have playgrounds for the children to play in. Barleyhurst Park
The park is connected to the redway network via Shenley Road and through into Blackmoor Gate/Dulverton Drive in Furzton. Barleyhurst Park is mainly grass with a few mature trees and shrubs and former field boundary hedgerows with a play area with a range of equipment. There is also a woodland area with paths.
Chepstow Local Park
Chepstow Local Park can be accessed on foot and cycle by the redway network and is signposted via Chepstow Drive, St Johns Road and Newton Road and is bordered on two sides by the Race Course Estate. The park is a large informal area of just over 4 hectares and has attained Green Flag status. The amenities include areas for informal sport and recreation, allotments and play parks.

The surrounding area of the park is made up of grass, mature trees and several seats. There are car parking areas within the park at the Shenley Road entrance. The footpaths, benches, and bins will be upgraded and an outdoor fitness equipment / trim trail will be added this year.
The Leys Park
The Leys is a large park which runs between Whalley Drive and Westminster Drive. The area is mainly grass with mature trees and shrubs. It has 2 play areas one at either end of the park, in the middle is a kick about area and fitness equipment. A path links all the entrances of the park together and give park users an excellent opportunity for exercise.
7. CARNIVAL 2019: Out of this World SATURDAY 8th JUNE | 12:00 – 17:00
This year’s Carnival is inspired by the 50th anniversary of man first walking on the moon.
For Carnival’s 18th year we will, once again, be bringing West Bletchley together to kick off the summer in MK. Join in and cheer on your community such as schools, Churches, charities and groups who all work very hard to be a part of the event each and every year.
This year we will be catered for by local students from Bletchley College’s award-winning restaurant, The Brasserie. Food stalls will be based adjacent to our stage with local dance groups performing, followed by talented, professional artists that interact with the crowd alongside ‘have-a-go’ games, activities and market stalls.
We remain grateful and mindful that neighbouring properties to the Carnival site on Rickley Park are generally accommodating for the sake of the event, despite suffering some disruption on the day. As we continue to steer the event towards a family festival feel, we anticipate less noise and reduced set-up/take-down times. We appreciate your understanding and hope you will come and check out Carnival for yourselves. Anticipated Site Schedule:
