Payment: Payment for the lines will be sent via paypal once all of the lines are completed. (Or half before, half after for larger payments/line counts.) Pale Spectrum is a visual novel and a sequel to Brilliant Shadows. Both are chapters/games from the Book of Gray Magic. Please keep all takes of the same line in one file. ● Zip files and label as: Username_Pale Spec Audition [ex: John Doe_Pale Spec Audition] ● Send auditions to [email protected] ● Subject Title: Pale Spec [name] Auditions Males Priamos Age: Late 20’s, early 30’s Estimated Lines: ~300 Description: A strange man from a strange land, namely one a thousand leagues under the sea. For mysterious reasons (because it’s cooler that way) he has journeyed to the lands above and taken up a position as one of the very few humanoid postmen, serving under the godlike power of the entity known only as the “Postmaster General”. His coworkers are sentient polar bears, and he himself has seen much of the world via the mysterious portals known as the “Post Ways”. This world travelling paragon of male beauty has his life reach a sudden and abrupt stop when he is accidentally ambushed by mages of the Celeste Royal Court and finds himself trapped in Ryuusia. That’s alright though, he had some vacation days to burn and there’s this awfully cute Mage Girl who is worldly enough to be friends with kobolds and adoptive brothers with a Yeti. She certainly is his type, perhaps being stuck here won’t be so bad. Desired voice: Sexy Male voice. Accents preferred however please apply with and without the accent if it is not your native accent. Mid to high range. Line 1: "It’s okay, I can never stay mad at a pretty girl.” (Seductively) Line 2: "MY GOGGLES! WHERE ARE MY GOGGLES?!" (Scared/Shocked/Panicked) Line 3: "I don’t want to hear something like that from some fellow with more muscles than brains." (Taunting) Line 4: "I dunno, I never really missed it. Home was a wondrous place, but so is everywhere else if you let it be." (With sincerity) Ogland Age: Mid 20s. Estimated Lines: ~300 Description: A skilled and highly professional soldier who is part of a secret body building club in the city of Ryuusia. He is captain of the palace guard and recently fell head over heals for the Court Mage, Belinda. Despite being far below her station, he goes after her. He is generally jovial, fearless, and good natured, quick to a joke and quicker still to a laugh. Desired voice: Proper voice but deep, low to mid range, English accent preferred. For inspiration I would suggest Kruber from Vermintide. Markus Kruber Line 1: "Aye, you’ve got a nice set of delts on yah." (In admiration of someone) Line 2: "I was going to say ‘delts’. Not everyone is so crude about a lady in her skivvies." (After having been interrupted in the previous line and berated for complimenting lady parts. Said defensively and possibly a bit annoyed) Line 3: "I have no idea, but I’m on it." (Very deeply confused, however jovial and acquiescent as always.) Line 4: "Uuugh, she’ll have no interest in me! It’s really only a certain group of men who have any interest in men with bulging biceps, anyway. And I hate to say, they aren’t my type." (Sad over an apparent failure to flaunt himself.) Vrayis Age: Unknown Estimated Lines: ~100 Description: The master of the silver tongue. Any words he speaks seem to ring true, no matter how impossible the lie. A god walking among mortals, he holds no constant form, but always bears a beautiful face. Constantly composed, after all, what could break the composure of such a powerful immortal? Desired voice: Any masculine that is well composed. Vrayis shows up having transformed into other minor roles, so someone with a wide range would be preferred as we might be able to use them for many if not all of those roles. As such if this interests you, please send any demo reel you might have in addition to the lines. Line 1: "I will allow them to do what they will. For now." (Spoken with simmering anger, poorly masked, but smooth.) Line 2: "You, go and kill yourself. Outside please, I don’t want to have to clean up the mess." (Nonchalantly, as one might ask another to pass you the ketchup.) Line 3: "You could never do that to me. Not you. Not to me. Not ever." (This is a line where he is specifically speaking to someone to manipulate them. We have no specifics for how this might sound, possibly with a smarmy tone, or perhaps with an earnest tone. We leave this up to the actor’s choice how to deliver this line. Multiple takes are welcome.) Line 4: "IMPOSSIBLE! HOW DID YOU?!" (Yelled, all composure lost and anger, confusion, and fear all bubbling up at once) Rheswenn Age: Late 30s Estimated Lines: ~100 Description: A Yeti adopted by an incredibly wealthy human family who were convinced he was just a very hairy and possibly deformed young boy. Thanks to the circumstances of his upbringing, he became an incredibly successful businessman on his own and eventually inherited his family’s business. He is impossibly strong for a human, as most yetis are, and walked much of the way from distant Kordale to Ryuusia. He plans to take his vacation to Ryuusia very seriously and has set it upon himself to meddle in his sister’s romantic life. Desired voice: Gruff, deeper voice, with a very proper tone. While Rheswenn is a monstrous Yeti, he was raised human and speaks very eloquently. Line 1: "I have… business… to take care of." (Spoken with unnecessary ‘epicness’) Line 2: "Who are you?! My baby sister is pale with weird, glowy eyes." (Greeting his sister as an uncle might greet a child who has grown a great deal since they last saw them) Line 3: "If you do anything to hurt my sister, I will bash your head into a wall until it is your neck striking stone." (Threatening a man who’s about to go on a date with his sister.) Kobold pronounced “cobold” (Like co from coworkers, and bold as in brazen.) Line 4: "It is a pleasure to meet you, Master Mox, Master Krok. This is my first time actually meeting kobolds, so I only speak a little Koboldish. <Chittering noises>" (Very polite and formal as he is meeting a pair of ambassadors for the first time. He proceeds to make strange, chittering noises which he has been led to believe is koboldish.) Females Gwen Age: Late 20s Estimated Lines: ~100 Description: Gwen is of common birth in Ryussia, she had the fortune to receive an apprenticeship with a Master glass blower. As a journeyman, she worked on a number of odd orders from the Palace and thought little of it until a pair of lizard men arrived and asked her to come to the palace for a job. There, they informed her she was a mage. And that’s only the beginning of her story. Desired voice: Any feminine voice. Accents are welcome but we would prefer you speak with your natural accent. We welcome any auditions from any who might feel they can fill the role. Line 1: “I’m sorry, you’re confused. I’m not a mage. I’m just a glass blower, and no more than a journeyman at that.” (In a voice that indicates she believes someone to be joking with her.) Line 2: "I thought you were supposed to be training me!" (Annoyed but not angry.) Line 3: "Hey, nothing wrong with that!" (Defensive) Line 4: "Yeah, I guess I live here now. Someone should probably tell my old Master. Does this mean I’m a court mage?" (With a slow realization of the significance of the role that has been dumped on her. Interpret as you will.) Swan Age: Early 20s Estimated Lines: ~30 Description: Swan is a servant in the palace and an avid believer in both the system and the Holy Goddess.

This makes the vampire a figure onto which readers and authors can project ambivalence about writing – the gothic of living with texts. Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1897) vividly illustrates this connection. The novel presents textual interactions as both dangerous and pleasurable.

  • Converted Classes
optional goodie - - Converted Classes layers and GMs used to the original game and its clones, will have noticed that several of the FH&W core classes are much Pdifferent from the originals. The Assassin, Fighter, Thief and Wizard, although slightly different remain close enough to their earlier incarnations. However, the cleric and druid were discarded; they were replaced by the new Friar, Mystic and Templar, that pray for divine in- terventions rather than get divine spells. Other examples include bards without spells, and paladins that are but Knights who get a few super- natural powers for serving the cause of Law. As such, for the players and GMs who want a true cleric or paladin, or a bard that can cast spells like a wizard, this free supplement is provided. It also proposes a few new classes, though closely based on previously published material, such as the sorcerer (3e), shadow-dancer (3e), or warrior-monk (C&C). Nonetheless, it should be reminded that GMs are the final arbiters on which classes may exist in the campaign world. When there is seve- ral for the same role, it’s probably better for the GM to explain what each of these similar classes represents. For example, if the servants of a widespread monotheistic religion are normally friars, mystics and templars, they should never be of the Agent of the Gods class presented here. On the other hand, it could be appropriate for different faiths to have different character classes. For example, a well organized/structu- red, Christian-inspired religion, may have friars, mystics and templars.
