Seconds (and opening the I assume). Simon Go West! So who exactly are you? MW: My name's Michael West and I was born in Southampton on 17th March 1979 What is your current marital status: MW: Single but spoken for. How did you come to be playing for Lymington? MW: Jon Hardy at Chase gave Neil Trestrail my number and lucky for me he phoned up and I turned up at nets the following week. What do you think of your new team-mates? MW: They're an ugly bunch, but overall they've made me feel welcome and accepted me in the team. We have a good laugh. You seem to have been given even more nicknames than Aaron - which of them do you prefer most, or is there one we don't know about? MW: There's quite a few you don't know about and I'm not gonna tell you! 'Taribo' and 'Fred' are the most used. I can't remember the others - there's so many. You must have been well chuffed with the five wickets against OTs & Romsey. Is the standard higher or lower than you expected in the Southern League? MW: The standard is as high as I expected. You tend to get a quicker seam bowler and most teams have stronger batting line-ups (apart from OTs & Romsey, obviously!) You had quite a tough baptism at Hungerford bowling against Jason Laney - how did you think you fared? MW: I thought I did okay on a slow wicket against a very good batsman Have you set any personal goals for this season? MW: I spoke to Adie Aymes who reckoned I should aim for four wickets per match and 500 runs through the season (Oh dear - I better concentrate on the wickets!). My main aim is to help Lymington win the League. What do you miss most about playing for Bramshaw? MW: I miss the guys and the New Forest ground. Who's the best batsman you've ever bowled to? MW: Robin Smith. I actually took out his middle stump once but he blamed it on the bat! Bad Judge-ment What are your best bowling figures and highest score? MW: I once took 7 for 15 in 10 overs and my highest score is 98 (damn!) Despite our two recent blips, how do you see the rest of the season panning out for Lymington? Who do you think will be the best teams in our division? MW: I think it will be between us and the Academy. You work for Chase at the moment - what's it like to work for Jon Hardy? And has Sam Miller mentioned last season's Cup Final at The Rose Bowl yet? MW: Working at Chase is good fun. Jon gets stressed at times but that's mainly my fault! Sam hasn't talked about the cup final (wonder why?!) What's the most embarrassing thing that's happened to you in a cricket match? MW: The strap on my trousers broke once when I was bowling and they ended up around my ankles. Who would you say is the worst dresser in the Lymington team? MW: Ben Craft (a typical student) Do you play any other sports? MW: I'll have a go at anything. Who is your sporting hero? MW: Ian Botham Dodgy dresser What's your favourite TV programme? MW: Emmerdale (presumably it reminds him of Bramshaw - Ed) What was the last CD you bought? MW: R.Kelly Favourite holiday destination? MW: America Have you got a claim to fame? MW: No but I'm working on it What would you buy if you won a million quid on the Lottery? Hero MW: A big house, a nice car and a brand new left big toenail!

Umpires: John Green & Brian Garwood The Hampshire Academy There will be plenty of familiar names on show at the Sports Ground today. Academy captain Tony Middleton (right) starred for Lymington back in the early Eighties before going on to score over five and a half thousand First Class runs for Hampshire. Tony today leads a very youthful Hampshire side that has equipped itself reasonably well in its new Southern League surroundings and won two of its first three matches. David Wheeler has built up quite a reputation in these parts. The young New Milton all-rounder destroyed our Second XI last season with a ferocious unbeaten 122, and scored a total of 582 SPL Division 3 runs, as well as taking 22 wickets. Another local connection is spinner Ian Hilsum who spent time down the road at Bashley and was the Southern League Young Cricketer of the Year in 1999. James Schofield holds the unusual distinction of taking a wicket with his first ball on both his First Class and limited over debuts for Hampshire last season. One of those first ball victims was the current Australian opener Matthew Hayden. Irfan Shah and Iain Brunnschweiler are regulars in the Hants Second XI while all rounder David Griffiths from Shanklin has appeared for England Under 15s. Cove's Chris Benham and Sarisbury Athletic's 15 year old Peter Hammond have been in excellent form with the bat this season, as has 17 year old Martin Bushell from Reading who scored 52 against Rowledge last Saturday.

Elsewhere Today . . . Members are reminded that, unlike Wayne Smith's socks, the teams published below are subject to change. Second XI at Amport (Hants Div 1) Guy Hayward (Capt), Dave Griffiths, Peter Tapper, Mark Jackson, Tony Thorp, Wayne Smith, Nick Jenkin, John McGuirk, Tim Margetson, Chris Noble and Ben Sanger. Third XI at Linkenholt (Hants West 3) Jerry Holt (Capt), Jim Stevenson, Damian Jay, Adie Hunt, James Lowe, Craig Tapper, Paul Sturmey, Sufian Tarafdar, Fred McKie, Rev'd Hayes and Simon Judd. Fourth XI at home to Burley (New Forest 1) From: Meg Gannaway (Capt), Robin Goff, Dom Di Maria, Luigi Di Maria, Bob Iles, James Cole, Arnie Badami, Steve Coltman, Doug Spinney, Tom Bell, Malcom Douglas, David Scott or the Rodway family. See Wayne Bridge at Lymington Sports Ground! Footy fans will be pleased to hear that the clubhouse will be open for England's opening World Cup match against Sweden next Sunday morning. Members may care to note that there will be a Swedish theme for the match - all drinks will cost at least £5 (although there will be a discount for anyone wearing a viking helmet or carrying an Ikea catalogue). Furthermore, the glasswasher will be available for any very small people wishing to have a sauna. But seriously, the club will be open from 10 o'clock, although it's unclear if Bob will allow the bar to open at such an ungodly hour (so to be on the safe side bring your own!).

Local Derby An historic event occurred down at Milford last Sunday as Lymington's two Under 11 sides met for the first time. Although not quite a 'Clash of the Titans', this was certainly a 'Battle of the Brothers'‚ with three pairs in opposition. In the end the result went according to the script with the A team coming out on top, but the B team emerged with much credit. The tone of the A's innings was set by The Bell boys - Michael and Tom - Will Thorp (20), and although no-one display their new Lymington shirts
