    LACHLAN SHIRE COUNCIL PO BOX 216 CONDOBOLIN NSW 2877 PHONE: (02) 68 951 900 FAX: (02) 68 953 478 ROAD CONDITION REPORT To: Media Release From: Keith Dawe Company: Councils & Communication Outlets Date: 24 October 2016 Report Number: 66 Time: 3:00PM Next review: Tuesday 25th October 2016 3 pages Many roads in Lachlan Shire are impacted by flooding as noted below. Long distance travel through Condobolin is not recommended with roads flooded and damaged. Road closures variously restrict light vehicles, heavy vehicles or all vehicles. Please take a safer alternate route or better still, defer travel if not essential. See attached map. Condobolin access to West Wyalong via Gipps Way is open – temporary repairs have been completed on the road. Caution as water remains over the road in a number of locations. Access for high clearance 4wd vehicles less than 3 tonne is available from Condobolin to Tullibigeal, Lake Cargelligo and West Wyalong via SR230 Lachlan Valley Way and SR1029 Tullibigeal Road. Caution as road condition is deteriorating Extra caution is advised as many roads are affected by current flooding or the residual effects from flooding, including soft shoulders, washouts, bog holes, potholes, slippery road surfaces, debris, water on roads and hidden hazards under the water. Conditions can change quickly. More land holders may lose access – make preparations before roads are closed by flooding . Tottenham area – residual damage from flooding, caution is advised: • Tullamore–Narromine road now open to vehicles under 3 tonne – severe road damage. • MR347 Dandaloo Road , Albert-Trangie – open with caution , temporary repairs. • SR3 Tabratong Crossing Road , Tottenham-Nevertire – open with caution , temporary repairs and one lane traffic access.

This represents a growth rate considerably lower than the Local Government Areas NSW average from 2006-2021 (17%). Population density Balranald, Broken Hill, Central Darling, Unincorporated Far has been calculated with a total for Far West LHN being West and Wentworth. 0.2 residents per square km. The Broken Hill LGA represents 62% of the catchment population with 19,361 Public Hospitals people. The 2006 Census data indicates that the Aboriginal Balranald District Hospital population of the Far West LHN catchment is 2,712, or Broken Hill Base Hospital 8.7% of the total population. The Broken Hill LGA has the Wentworth District Hospital highest number of Aboriginal people (1,204) in the Wilcannia Multipurpose Service catchment.

    Ride details Pedal Cure 4MND The Pedal Cure 4MND ride is a fully supported ride from Ungarie, the home town of Neale Daniher and his famous Essendon Bomber brothers Terry, Anthony & Chris, to Windy Hill. Neale is a founding member of the Fight MND Foundation and while suffering MND he has been inspirational in raising awareness & funds to find a cure for this beast of a disease. Over 95% of all funds raised on this ride go directly to research. That is real bang for your buck and you know your fund raising is having a direct impact! The ride winds its way South on country roads. Participants are hosted each night at local footy clubs where they can interact with the local community and help raise the profile of FightMND. The ride is in its second year. Over $140,000 was raised in 2018 with 25 riders completing the whole 6 days (750km). Many others joined in for parts of the ride along the way. Ride structure – There are a few options for the ride. You can do the whole 750km over 6 days or join for 2-3 days or just do 1 day. Each level has a different cost and you will be required to fund raise as part of your participation. Riders doing the whole ride or riders who raise more than $1000 receive a free cycling jersey. Fundraising – The main aim of the ride is to raise funds for MND research. Each rider is required to register & fundraise. You will receive a link to setup your online fundraising page when you register.
